  1. I was working all the way through lockdown, so the whole furloughed boozing in the back garden thing didn't apply to me. The only time I drink is when I'm gigging (and obviously not driving), or seeing bands, so as that wasn't happening I wasn't drinking and my alcohol tolerance has now severely diminished.
  2. Fate Gear, one of the better Japanese Steampunk bands IMO.
  3. IMO the only time this has worked, is when Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé's Barcelona album was rerecorded - after Freddie had died - with an orchestra.
  4. I've seen a bass, where the owner had moved the bridge further down, to make the longer strings fit better 😖
  5. Are you sure about your eye? Maybe you should drive to Barnard Castle to check?
  6. mine too, sort of. It was the college bass that I learned on and appropriated for my first year.
  7. Agreed. Getting the 'attack' associated with playing with a pick can easily be got from fingers.
  8. Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by Bombalurina went to number 1 in 1990. Achy Breaky Heart wasn't released until 1992 so I guess something had to fill the void...
  9. I used a pick when I first started to play bass, as I was still playing classical guitar and had long nails on my picking hand. I finally settled on Jim Dunlop's Big Stubby's as my pick of choice.
  10. Carefully tune your instrument before playing. That way you can play out of tune with a clear conscience 😜
  11. he wants to be careful, he may get sued for exploitation, child pornography etc...
  12. I've had 5 string, and 6 string basses, but I've found my home with double octave necks and D extended fretboards, both headed and headless, so no having to get use to a detuned E string 😁
  13. Yeah, people on clip shows and documentaries often churn this one out. Not quite true. Most musical genres tend to have a peak commercial success of roughly 2 years. The hair metal scene - which was always bigger in the USA than here - had been going on since 1981. As happens it was time for a new generation to find their own thing. Gunge wasn't the only 'new' genre making a stir in the early 90's but no-one blames New Metal, or pop-punk for killing hair metal. Not too many hair metal bands changed to a gunge style and became successful, off the top of my head I can only think of Pantera, and Alice in Chains.
  14. It took me a while to realise those are tree branches at the back of the stage, and not a logo for one of the bands...
  15. nowhere at the moment. I'm yet to rehearse with my new band 🙄 but I'll bring it to the next Bassbash I go to.
