like C extension on a double bass, although mine is to D. The clamps turn and clamp on the E fret, and E flat fret. When both clamps are open I have an open low D.

Worst Probably my custom earplugs, but only because I got them with the connecting string which is annoyingly microphonic. The slightest touch or movement on something reverberates down into the plugs and ears. Best This

I disagree with the 'i could never play like that' sentiment. If you were willing to practice 6 hours a day, and knew what to practice, in a year's time you'd be pretty close (figures may vary for the individual).

Back in the day I had a Carvin guitar amp. Nothing to do with Lita Ford endorsing them ☺️ Sounded great. Very good for (old school) metal.

They don't seem to hold their value second hand, which is great for the buyer because they are great basses. I had a BB 5 string, can't remember the exact model, I liked the feel and could get such a wide variety of tones from it. This is the only pic I can find of me playing it.

I have a guitar which has an Epiphone Custom Shop stamp on it. But it's still made in Korea. Great guitar though.

Update. I've purchased an EHX Mono Bass Synth pedal (in fact the one mentioned by Hen barn above). Having had a fiddle at bedroom levels, there are a couple of sounds I really like. It has presets, which is incredibly useful, and although glitchy, not as glitchy as some pedals. Possibly my technique doesn't help, but the longer I played, the less glitchy it got.

The EHX Mono Bass Synth pedal, also has presets.

Does this also mean it also doesn't do 80's keyboard bass sounds?

I was working all the way through lockdown, so the whole furloughed boozing in the back garden thing didn't apply to me. The only time I drink is when I'm gigging (and obviously not driving), or seeing bands, so as that wasn't happening I wasn't drinking and my alcohol tolerance has now severely diminished.
