  1. Well I can play all the right notes, but not necessarily...
  2. Monsters of Rock, Milton Keynes Bowl 2006. Plenty of 'support' bands I wanted to see, including Alice Cooper, who should have been headlining instead of Deep Purple.
  3. Best not mention hemi-demi-semiquavers then! πŸ˜‰
  4. Still love me a bit of shred, but can't shred as fast as I could even a few years ago. I would sometimes use a legato technique, which strangely enough is not a technique I can do when I shred on guitar. Sometimes I used a double-fingering technique - up and down stokes with the same finger - but I can't do double-thumbing yet.
  5. Spasticus autisticus - Ian Drury. Scope-us autisticus, isn't quite the same.
  6. I sold the basses I would never sell - the Hamer Blitz bass I always wanted, and my Rob Allen Mouse (although I bought that back, thanks @Clarky!). But I REALLY would not sell my custom Shuker's
  7. ABBA - The Dancing Queen, young and sweet only 17, would be 62 years old now.
  8. Hi Caz, a bit of a decenting voice from me! My Shuker's have the extra 2 frets like the Kubicki's, but even so I've found that for noodling around at bedroom levels my Digitech bass synth wah, does a good enough job at my attempts at Uptown Funk. Before buying a 5 string, I would suggest getting a decent bass synth pedal - most have an octave function - rather than a dedicated octave pedal, and try it. If it doesn't do what you want you shouldn't lose money if you move it on. Remember, it's what works for you.
  9. have a drink have a drive, go out and see what you can find - Mungo Jerry. And the less said about the original lyrics to 'The Sun has got his hat on', the better...
  10. would Iron Maiden have had continued success, if it was disclosed there was no 'real' bass and drums on every album from Number of the Beast? (and the singer had been arrested for domestic abuse and the drummer was a convicted wifebeater - but that's another story...)
  11. A blast from the past, for those wanting to relive their misspent youth...
  12. Once heard never forgotten...
  13. i mentioned Stewart Lee's sanctimonious Oxbridge smuggery in another thread. Nothing there to disabuse me of that notion. Although I am aware it may be his 'comedy persona' or 'act', and he may actually be a fine fellow to have a pint with.
  14. Wouldn't it be great to have a new music scene? When was the last one?
  15. Bought my Twisted Sister Epi Les Paul from them. Much pinkness 😎
  16. A thread on Doom Metal and Candlemass are not the first band mentioned? \m/
  17. No probably about it. There are plenty of interviews with Mike Shipley talking about the recording process.
  18. No real bass or drums on record after Pyromania.
  19. So from what I've read, Taylor Swift signed a 6 album record deal in 2006, in exchange for a large advance to kick start her career the record company would own the masters. As the writer or co-writer of her music, she still owns the publishing rights. This was/is standard practice for new or unsigned bands. (A band owning their masters was so unprecedented in 1998, that Motley Crue had to sign an NDA to stop them saying how they did it). Now apparently Miss Swift is cross because the masters which she does not own have been sold by someone she does not like? Am I missing something? Her PR Machine has successfully portrayed her as a victim, when all involved are multi-millionaires. .
  20. Current bass player Jenny sounds great, and always has a big smile when she's playing 😎
  21. no mention of Rock Goddess yet? They reformed a couple of years ago and the latest album is quite good 😎
  22. whereas I know people with autism for who music is their connection to the world, and non-verbal people on the spectrum who can have sophisticated dialogues through music
  23. Check out Infectious Grooves to see how insanely talented he is 😎
