  4. yes, but one camp is wrong
  5. Ah, using a phone isn't always the best way to navigate this site.
  6. i seem to remember something about "pictures of my 2 new Spector purchases, soon" ?
  7. To give the OP a serious reply: I still love me a bit of shred. I can't play as fast as I used to be able to, although if I practised nothing but shred for 2 hours a day for the next 3 months I would probably get up to speed (see what I did there ) but at my time of life I'm not prepared to do that. The point is, I could shred faster than than the tempo of 'Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick', yet I found HMWYRS far more challenging to learn. So IMO it's not about the bpm's it's what you can do with them.
  8. As others have said 'it depends'. At it's simplest and still suitable for any gig I've done or am likely to do: fingers ---> Strings (30's - usually Rotosound) ---> Bass (custom Shuker) ---> wireless (Getaria Airbridge) or OBBM cable ---> Peavey Vypyr VIP3.
  9. what gets missed from this interview is shortly afterwards when he says "I like it because it's fun". Fair enough IMO. I don't want to do it - albeit play bass - if it's not fun.
  10. The band have split, in that they will no longer be working together (at least not as Daft Punk (for now)) but there will be reissues and more compilations, so it's not stopping.
  11. I used to have a 350w Trace Elliott combo. It was loud enough for any gig, and I mean any gig 😎
  12. Daft Punk - not a punk band..
  13. I cannot recommend my Flattley Bass Poison Ivy enough. There are some deals to be on their Silver Series pedals through their Reverb shop: https://reverb.com/marketplace?make=flattley-guitar-pedals Hand made boutique pedals made in England, and they are still small enough that you can phone them up and have a chat
  14. How do jazzers make it work, despite never selling enough to feature in the hit parade, and playing the small gigs that they do? There are some names in the Notable Deaths thread, who I have never heard of, but they seem to have been consistently working as a musicians without having to get a second job.
  15. Wow! They are women! They are in a band but they are women! They are playing their own instruments but they are women! They are playing metal but they are women! They are doing what men do but they are women! Whatever next? Maybe we'll have women driving buses, and possibly even women being politicians!
  16. Nothing about how the ultra low emissions zone, congestion charge payable before and after 12am, and 24 hour parking charges in central London, will affect anyone who wants to go or play there.
  17. Best strap? Surely the triple LED guitar strap!
  18. Sounds interesting, will give it a go later.
  19. which is why before going, graduate employment rates for their chosen institution(s) should be looked at.
  20. Following lockdowns I would suggest the Baked Potato song.
  21. Amp and speaker or combo. No spare but always have a decent DI (or pedal with a DI out) just in case.
  22. if you want a real Monk doing death metal...
