If times were different, I'd suggest going to a Bass Bash, and talk to people and play as many basses there as possible I would not buy a bass without playing it first, but it may be a while before you can do that

I still have my blue IKEA trolley. I would not recommend it. Fine for floors such as in IKEA but not much good elsewhere. I've still got and use the trolley I bought from Maplins.

Depending on the line up of the band, sometimes changes are needed. If I was playing '99 Luftballons' in a 3 piece band, I'd play a different bassline than I'd play in a line up with a keyboard.

pre-Covid there tended be a more mature crowd at the start of the set, so we would do more of the 60's/70's stuff. Towards the end of the night the age range tended to be younger, so we would do some of the more modern stuff. But finishing with Johnny B. Goode, was pretty much guaranteed to get all ages dancing. -
May we need a mass debate? We could thrash it about in the open?
