PJ Basses Yamaha vs Spector (or something else?)
rhysyjob replied to Al Krow's topic in Bass Guitars
Someone’s got there thinking cap on. 😊 I owned a LTD (esp) once with an EMG MM pickup in the bridge and a P soapbar at the neck. Proof that great pickups cannot save a cr4p bass!!! i didn’t realise that Spector didn’t do PJ neck through 5 strings... Sandberg? -

Spector Rebop 5? What do I need to know before I buy?
rhysyjob replied to FarFromTheTrees's topic in Bass Guitars
I have both a Euro and a Rebop. Both are wonderful Basses and have that scooped Spector tone that just cuts through a mix. To my ears the Euro has the slightly more aggressive tone, the Rebop is a bit more mellow. As for neck heaviness I have swapped the tuners on my rebop to Gotoh’s (to match my Euro) no neck dive with a reasonable strap. I hope this helps. -

I've owned a few Bongo's and agree that they are unique toneally. However for double humbucker g&l l2000 are hard to beat and you can pick up the tribute series at a good price too.
