3. Not sure of the exact type, but this may be of interest, high starting price though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ME:B:SS:GB:1123
4. Do a search, last I remember a V4 combo was up, perhaps 6 months ago.
5. Its all coming back to me now,,,, http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=trace+v8 There were two on at the same time, and one had very interesting bidding.
6. I paid £1450 for V8 and 810 about 18 months ago, I have seen them go for less but usually more. One on ebay not long ago with Two correct cabs 412 and 215, didn't sell at £1700 I think.
7. Mates and I would make a day trip up to Leeds in the mid 80's, we spent most of the day at Music Ground, it was just such a great shop. The above statement has no connection whatsoever with Music Ground today.
8.
As it was said earlier Mark is off at the moment, although he is still taking emails. I will be in saturdays - Wednesdays and can be reached by PM or email on [email protected] Apologies to anybody that has had a bad experience when ordering from our sister company website. Please give either Mark (mark_random) or myself an email or pm if you wish to order anything and we can personally deal with your enquiery. cheers Wes
Wes, you can only do your best, after that, its out of your control, although I don't think you'll ever get reviews like Denmark St shops, I'm pretty sure nobody here goes there ( to buy that is).
9. I dealt with the shop as I would rather ask and find out if something was in stock, but if you talk to the shop you are also talking to someone that's into their music too and maybe not as into the other things that are involved after they've just sold you a bass, even so my bass arrived V quickly but on sending it back for a refund I was given the run around a little, it won't put me off buying from them again though.
10. Very Red Gibson EB2 through an amp I can't remember but 100w with 4 el34's and a home made 2x15, a really good sound and would really like to use it again now. Swapped the EB for a Grabber cos I thought at the time the EB was just for old men, loaned the amp and cab to a mate and never saw them again, Tw.t.
11. Sorry for listing a sold item, and I know its not the '' One'' , being a 'Magnavox' and not an 'Ampeg Inc', but interesting as a reference anyway. Ampeg SVT-VR

I think the VR is still quite a good amp, but these days, I think most small pub bands just don't and can't play as loud as we used to, if I still had the SVT I probably wouldn't even be using it as I just couldn't get it up to that break up point. The SVT CL though has a Gain control, I was thou so dissapointed with the VR that I never tried one and then bought a V8, of which I'm ''kind of'' happy with. Looking forward to hear what you think of the 400 with the Barefaced, sounds ideal.
13. Very sad indeed and so much so for the real mates he had, condolences to family and friends.

Ampeg SVT-VR

I had heard that the VR was a direct as, copy of the original, so I tried one a few years ago and it only took minutes before I switched the thing off. The problem was I had a 1970 SVT in the 80's, you never forget the way they sound and the VR didn't sound like it. They are a great bass amp and streets ahead of most, but if you want the sound of the original, it's just not going to get there. Can you not buy yours back?.
15.
I am certain that's the one Wayne (punkdude) loved in Leeds. I went there to try it and they'd sent it down to London the day before.
They're probably reading this very thread, just like they did when Wayne started the original one. Funny they had an offer of £1715.00 but declined it

Yes I saw that one. Just looked at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_PQ0eBb83c...feature=related and found that Chris Glen has a P bass pup inbetween the gibson pups, still sounds amazing though.

Gibson Porn

Thanks guys, I bought it in the US a few years ago, I don't think it had ever been played and at that only ever with flats, I did have a few issues with the pot's which I will write a thread soon about. Very easy player but not Fender low action, I think these and the EB2's are just not meant to have a low action.

Here's my 70 EB3 Slot Head, with original case and made especially for the Slots, even room for an EB3L Slot too, but am not sure they ever made one.
22.
and just be sure it doesn't have a tweeter as well
I think most of these do tend to tweet too, as they were positioned in close proximity to the larger woofer.
23. In the 80's my bro and I went to buy him a Les Paul, we went through around 25-30 in london one day from high priced to new and low price to used or beaten, we played all acoustically, only two sounded good, one was a 62 standard and out of his price range and the other was a new early 80's standard but this one just didn't sound in tune, now I know why. One guitar did stick out though and this was an Explorer, it just rang out with smooth but crisp tone, it just was so superior to any LP he had played, so he bought it and its been his only guitar since..........Until last year his longing for a LP and some middle age haze set him on the hunt again, he tried many and almost gave up, but one day he eventually found it, it absolutely blew every single LP he had ever played, but I said 'its not a Gibson' ' Correct he said' ' Its a Hamer Studio Custom and its f@ckin awesome'. I bought my 4001 this way, but that was really really difficult to find one that didn't sing.
24. Looks good, and IMO much better looking than black. Wonder if the other Jazz was a US one or still a CIJ.
25. I don't think a working Bass player will buy this, we're not that s.....d, you soon pis off your band mates with 2 amps and 2 cabs. A Ric guitarist will be the winner of this as I have never met a stranger breed and its right up they're street.
3x jack sockets, .0047u cap, hammond style metal box, neutrik TRS plug and 2m of cable. Total cost £11, labour 20 minutes. Rub in the magic snake oil and add vintage looking logo. Result £79. I shall look into making identical units, advertise them on ebay, and wait for the insults to start flying when they claim I have "stolen their design". I hasten to use the word "stupidity" lest I annoy the mods, but really...
I had the same idea a few years back, sell someone something they think they need. When I first bought my 4001 in the 70's, I made one and as I had taken out the .0047 cap, I put it in the box and linked it to a DPDT switch, unlike the monkey above who thought he had a brilliant idea to add the cap for those without it, but never thought to add a switch instead of an extra jack. I'm quite happy for you to add this mod to yours, hell I'll even buy one off you just to wind myself up.
