  1. Hi Nick, I'm not sure that was quite the sort of proposition I was looking for - then again some of the best fun in life can be the little surprises. Anyhow, possibly is the short answer with all the usual provisos. Dr S
  2. Hi, My current gig - a rock covers band - is coming to a close soon and so I will be available to join or form another outfit. Although I am essentially a rock musician, I can do most styles, where required and this is a link to a short composition, which shows a little of what I can do: www.doubleball.co.uk/Bass_Salad_Surgery.mp3 Although I am certainly no longer in the first or flush of youth, I am a keen and experienced player with a serious attitude. I currently reside in the RG28 post code area, which is somewhere between Basingstoke and Andover and Newbury and Winchester, all of which I can travel to. So if you are looking for a reliable player or have a good project idea then please drop me a line. Dr S.

Are the round core noticeably different from 'normal' strings?[/quote] Hi, I use Nickel Signature strings from XL2XL on my Steinberger, which are a 42-102 over a round core. I find this gauge sits just right on the slightly narrower neck profile and being round core, which is more difficult to manufacture correctly, they tend to stay bright for a lot longer. Dr. S.
  4. Hi, I am a long time Steinberger fan and another good source for doubleball strings is XL2XL. They stock D'Addario, Elites and their own Nickel Signature, which are excellent. Dr S.
