  1. I'm in the same place, can't imagine not picking up a bass any time I sit down at home. It's how I chill out and relax after a long hard shift. If I'm not playing, I'm online looking at and reading everything I can. Even on breaks at work I'm "window" shopping. I prefer to think of it as research 🤔
  2. Now that I am on holiday with the family,  I  get an email saying the bass I have my eye on (and intend to purchase) is now back in stock. Typical 🙃

I had exactly the same thing. Currently on holiday until end of next week. I got an email this morning telling me bass that I’ve been waiting for finally became available. Purchased straight away and will be delivered to my workplace.

PS. I wonder if it’s the same one? Jackson Minion, white with maple fretboard from Manns Music.

Ibanez btb for me, been eyeing them up for years and finally decided to go for it once I get back. Using this time to make sure 100% as I have been flip flopping on choice a lot recently, reckon this is the one

  3. I think it's just where the binding ends. But I know very little , please carry on
  4. Oh wow its hot here 37°C today 🥵

Itching to play already and we only got here last night. Tenerife is unseasonably hot

I come home about 1am on Tuesday. I may be just a pile of bones in a puddle of sweat by then. It's so hot they've closed the schools here this week. Never seen the like before. Ran out of t shirts quickly, 4 showers a day is not uncommon as is 4l of water 🥵

    Katana bass

That's excellent news guys, thanks. Bias confirmed, will have one of these before long 😂
  6. My daughter wants to play! Happy days! Also twice as much gear to buy which I see as an additional plus point. She quickly dropped playing guitar after a couple of tries but has stuck at 4 strings and asks me to use a bass almost every night. She got the bug big time and is soooo excited by anything and everything bass. I'm loving it ❤️

My 13 year old daughter asked me a couple of weeks ago if she can use one of my basses. So I've given her my old Dean Edge 4 for the time being. She wants to respray it Candy Apple Red, hopefully I can get away with just a standard metallic red....

Excellent news. When my son was in his teens, he started to play bass - and that inspired me to pick up my bass more often.
Hope your daughter stays keen on bass :)

  7. So these have been out for a while now, how do people feel about them nowadays? Any issues that have appeared or known problems? My daughter has decided she is going to play bass (hallelujah!) and has already chosen her instrument of my pain, an epiphone eb3 in cherry. I am going to give her my orange crush 25 (which is like new) to use so I'll be requiring a new amp myself. Once she's practiced a bit and has a bit of playing under her belt I'll buy her whatever she needs. Until then I have my eyes on a 2x10 katana as GAS continues to bite me hard and will not stop until satiated
  8. Donny Benet today. I have sole control of the workshop sound system 😂 12 hour shifts become bearable when you can listen to what you want. Luckily my two colleagues enjoy listening to him as well, which is my fault. They enjoy his in studio vids, and now his albums 👌
  9. Ouch! I don't think I'd keep it with a ding like that, that's more than just a small chip or mark. Somebody dropped that then sent it out anyway hoping the person on the other end didn't notice Edit:extra word removal Edit 2 : (didnt want to clutter up the thread with my crap so i stuck it here)why do I find these so damn attractive now, I never liked the colour before, but the whole thing together ❤️
  10. I have a couple of guitars I regret buying, soon they will turn into a new bass and amp 🤞
  11. Why thank you kind sir!
  12. Overrated : Anything Gibson. Underrated : Wilkinson pickups , for the price there is no competition , £20 for the nicest sounding P pickup i ever heard is incredible
  13. I don't usually gravitate towards that style of bass but that is lovely. Wilkinson pickups are very underrated , 99% of people would not be able to tell they were "budget" pickups if the covers were unbranded. The one i have in my HB P is huge sounding.
  14. Have you tried 2nd hand? at that price i think you are only going to find Harley Bentons new , i have not tried one so cannot comment on them. I picked this up for about £180 a few years ago. Early 80's , ebony board , side dots on the note , lovely to play
  15. I saw B stock on Thomann last night for £269 Edit: checked again and there are no more
  16. Indeed I have not! Nobody near me has them in stock yet. I was planning on playing each (hopefully at the same time) before I finally make my mind up. Although I'm flip flopping all the time on what I'd like next. Currently I'm back to a P bass, it's my favourite look and sound and the body shape is perfect for me. It lacks versatility though compared to the others and I'm starting to think I dont care. Schecter,Fender, G&L, the list is almost endless. I already have my modded and improved HB that I absolutely adore, why another P? It's just as well I have a holiday first, give me some time away to think things over. I'm not rushing into this for once.
  17. I have only one fretless. It has dots on the side where the frets would normally be at 3,5,7,9,12 etc. It took me a minute to figure out the dots were at the fret positions and not between them like I'm used to. As I don't play it often , I sound awful when I do. If I had a choice I'd probably go for side dots but with fret lines marked on the side as well
  18. Ah crap , GAS is already biting bad enough... Strangely enough , this has been an exclusively Scottish thread so far
  19. Neck through with an ebony board for £500 is pretty nice. It certainly looks nice. The extra strings are not doing it for me , four is more than enough to contend with. I wonder who they are aiming it at? Its kind of got an ultra widdly turbo shreddy tap vibe
  20. In my experience with the Edinburgh store I have yet to see anything set up at all. Apparently they have an excellent tech yet everything seems to go out as it went in. I've had to setup every single instrument I've bought from there from a £120 banjo to a £2k+ Les Paul. Never asked about a setup, but also never offered with a new instrument 🤷
  21. The more i look at the Reverend decision p in venetian pearl the more i think i may stick with passive. But then i click to a different window and i'm confronted with the meteora... I wonder what merchant city are like on trade ins 🤔
  22. Sounds a bit fancy that , would only lead to more GAS for me , as if it wasn't bad enough with all these gorgeous instruments appearing lately
  23. Very nice indeed , but what exactly is Rick'o'sound?
  24. I've never experienced one myself , and i'm limited in experience of actives in general. Are the Fender ones terrible? I have an Ltd phoenix that takes a 9v battery yet the controls are vol/vol/tone 🤷‍♂️
