  1. Hi Steve
  2. Absolutely loving this thread! so many laugh out loud moments πŸ˜‚
  3. Very nice!
  4. Well we made it through January with barely a casualty , personally i reckon i can go quite a while without feeling the need to splurge some cash on miscellaneous gubbins. The Mrs offered my next bass for my birthday so i escaped new instrument GAS easily there. Only had to buy a new bridge , tuners , pickup , pots , knobs , strings......
  5. Good news then 😁
  6. Despite having a new bass on the way i'm still in. The reasoning is , the Mrs bought it for my upcoming birthday. This gives me 3 excuses. 1 - she bought it. 2 - its out of stock for a couple of weeks which takes us into February anyway. 3 - my birthday isn't til next month anyway. By my reckoning , i'm still in this
  7. The Orange is my amp and its great for in the house but i would say thats its limit for volume. If friends come round and we have a muck about with my guitars it can hold its own with my 15W valve Marshall. All at low volumes however, quiet cul de sac setting and all. However you're definitely in the right place for advice, if someone here hasn't owned / played it then it probably doesn't exist and the wealth of knowledge here is staggering
  8. Hi Rob Try an Orange crush25 bass amp, terrific for in the house and general practice at sensible volumes. Four and a half turns?!? That is a lot! I've adjusted horrors before but never needed more than one full turn. You must have been able to fire arrows from it!
  9. For a first bass that is amazing! Definitely one to keep a hold of
  10. It looks like i'll be giving them a miss if they have neither benefits of brightness or feel. I only have one jazz bass and its set up perfectly on flat wounds so i'm very wary of changing anything on as it feels so good. Looks like i need a new guitar not strings ... Shopping time i guess πŸ™ƒ
  11. No problem!...i just have to stay away from my computer at all costs , whilst i'm isolating just after being paid. Help.
  12. All opinions count!
  13. Apologies if this has been covered before , i did a search and nothing came up... At the moment i have flats on my Squier jazz and i absolutely love the feel of them, however i much prefer the sound of roundwound strings like the ones on my ltd. Currently trying to learn how to properly slap the thing and i feel like having the right sound is more influential to me picking it up more. Are half rounds simply a halfway house between the two being similar to both but without eithers distinct benefits? I have no real objection to the feel of rounds i just much prefer the feel of the flats. Is it possible to find strings that feel like flats but sound like rounds? Apologies again if this has been covered , i'm just trying to find my place on this instrument and at the moment it sounds sloppy slappy. Thanks for reading
  14. That's a beautiful instrument , i can't imagine how tricky it would be to play a fanned fret fretless though. Even harder if the lines weren't there i suppose. Gorgeous colour , lovely wood, love it 😍
  15. That's gorgeous 😍
  16. Reckon i'll be fine in the end , there is always the thought of the Mrs intercepting a delivery πŸ˜‚ The one i'd go for would probably be the BBP34 in midnight blue which is out of price range anyway. Perhaps a little later in the year πŸ€”
  17. Its a dangerous month for me, stuck isolating this week with wages in the bank and me desperately avoiding (trying anyway , admittedly not too hard) looking at a teal blue Yamaha BB on guitarguitars website. I think i can win this battle
  18. Definitely doesn't count , i've priced up new strings recently. Thankfully i was sitting down. πŸ˜‚ Out of curiosity did they ever install a machine for turning you upside down and shaking you by the ankles as you leave? Just to make sure they got every last penny from you. I haven't been for over a year now , really need to pay a visit but leave my cards at home / remove small change from pockets in case they have a machine...
  19. Good luck! I've yet to make it out of the Edinburgh store with an intact wallet
  20. Oh thats lovely, afraid i'm going to be no help to you at all
  21. But maybe we want to see it?
  22. Thanks , i'll add it to my watch later and have a go when nobody is around to witness things Edit: Now watched... @Bunion I cannot thank you enough for this link, this just explains it better than any other i have seen and i have seen more than a few now. Thankyou!!!!!!
  23. I'm trying to learn how to play slap style and having a terrible time. Like i cant play anything and it just isn't clicking for me. The end goal is to play music by one of my favourite bands - Primus. Fingerstyle , no problem. I've played guitar nearly 30 years and can find the note i'm after. Usually... Slap remains elusive to my apparent lack of talent. Still not giving up. One day i'll have it down. Tommy the cat will be within my grasp.
  24. They always reminded me of a school bully. Lots of bluff and puffy chests but unwilling to back it up if put on the spot, beside from backing away going "...yeah... , i'll have you...just you wait.."
  25. I'd stick some furry ears and googly eyes on that , make it look like a camel too.
