I actually think that he has some cool sounds, but that rig is just ridiculous. Reminds of that quote 'Bureaucracy expands to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy.' The different chains will eventually achieve mystic qualities as they get more complicated and there will be 16 guys backstage programming and switching things in and out at various points. None of which can ever be fired because everybody is scared that the system has become so incomprehensible that nobody will ever figure out what it is that they did. Wait... it is actually the Irish Public Service I am annoyed at. Carry on Chris.

Thanks for that

Amazing empathy for the song and vocal melody from Jamerson. Interesting that Marvin wanted the bass amp placed so close to his piano. Anyone name that amp ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9KC7uhMY9s
monday morning bump
Played one of these recently at a studio in Cornwall and really liked it. I am tempted to offer my Genz-Benz 9.0 up for trade, but I suspect it would be unreasonable for you to ship this with no flight-case (I'm in Ireland). Anyway, bump for a great amp.

+1 to the idea that mic'ing the cab usually sounds better unless there we are talking about crappy cabinets/mics compared to expensive Di boxes/preamps/compressors. other mics that I have used for bass cabs to good effect live, (in addition to the Heil mic mentioned, which i have heard is very good) Shure SM7 Sennheiser 421 EV RE20 Beyer Soundstar Mk II
A bump for this lil beauty. I've got the version without the DI, and it transforms my passive basses. Couldn't live without it. Just thought I'd say A thought - interested in a trade for a Trace Elliott SMX Dual compressor? I'd add cash.
The trade is not for me, but many thanks for the bump. Cheers, Nathan
parcel2go.ie are cheaper and very good
Thanks Fitzy73 these guys seem good ( correct url is parcel2go.com/ie though, in case anyone else is looking for a courier ) It seems these guys will deliver the bass in it's flight case to the UK for €25. I will cover postage to whoever is willing to pay the asking price, in the interest of getting it there safely and saving me packing hassle, can't say fairer than that !

A couple of other things about this bass: It has a pair of Seymour Duncan 'Basslines' installed which sound great, I don't have original pickups. EDIT I have been informed that these are the originals (see below) thx basshead56 /EDIT Active/Passive push-pull switch/rotary knob needs a blast of contact cleaner. Quiet when set, but slight crackle when moved. I will try and do it if I get time to pick up some cleaner, am heading away for much needed two weeks holiday on Sunday.

Some photos from yesterday evening in rehearsal room, sorry quality is not fantastic in some of them, we were under a little pressure for time. Should have shipping prices later, I think I would prefer to send with flight-case. Total weight with case is 17kg, so it is doable.

Great thread. Is there a definite date for the arrival of the console ? Or are you going to just watch the market for a while and see what comes up ? Cheers, Nathan
