1. I'm using it on my phone, seems ok, but haven't fully explored it yet. Music selection is acceptable. Some functionality from the old iOS music app has disappeared, which is annoying. (can't figure out how to shuffle songs by an artist for example). Also since upgrading, my car stereo no longer wants to talk to my phone. The radio stations seem good, I'm going to explore those further. So for me a mixed bag at best. I don't really trust Apple when it comes to music, but then I've always hated Spotify as well, and if I had to choose between them I think I would still go with Music.
  2.
Jonathan at Feline is a great guy. Has wonderful 1980s poodle-permed hair too. He maintains all my basses for me and does excellent bass setups.
All sorted now, (see couple of posts above) but thanks for the suggestion, they do seem like a popular choice. Poodle hair is a rare sight these days, might be worth a visit down there to Croydon just to marvel at it.
  3.
Where's he based in SE?
Crystal Palace, I think it's SE25.
  4. I'm going to bump this thread because I found someone locally who did a set-up and some mods on this bass (pickup swap, new pickguard and covers), his prices are really reasonable, and he did the work very very quickly, so for anyone looking for someone in this part of London, I can happily recommend him, his name is Ben, his number is 07723401338. I'm loving how this bass has turned out.

Looks amazing! I prefer a maple neck too. Would love to hear some sound clips of this.
  6. Thanks guys, ordered some new ones off eBay, and getting a refund on these, didn't have the balls to file down a brand new pickguard. You live and learn..
  7. I'm in the process of customising a USA Precision, and I really wanted to replace the black pup covers with some cream / ivory colour ones. So I ordered these made by Northwest Guitars off Amazon, and the screw mount bits are visibly too large to fit - in fact the holes are not even in the right place at all. So can anyone suggest a place where I can order cream pup covers that are actually the right size? Thanks!
  8. No idea how much to charge for this, it's a bit scuffed up on the outside, perfect on the inside, I got it with a recent purchase but have no real use for it at the moment. Perfect fit for a precision bass, plus it includes a FREE unopened set of Roto Bass 45-105 strings. Collection from SE London preferred, I'm happy to post at buyer's cost.
  9. Ditto Looper, boxed and perfect, £50 plus postage or collection from London.
  10.
I'm down in sunny Devon.
Unable to check right now so call it £3, if it's any more I'll cover it.
  11.
How much would postage be?
Not sure, but I'll find out. where would you need it posted to?
  12.
I think Sibob is looking for one of these might be worth PMing him GLWTS
thanks for the heads up, I'll drop him a pm!
  13. P-bass pickguard, 3 ply black, no holes for thumb rest or truss rod, still in packaging, brand spanking new. (I ordered the wrong one by accident.. brain malfunction..) Pickup from London, postage anywhere.
  14. Love these, I resisted the temptation to buy one last year but it wasn't easy, the tone is amazing on these basses, and that maple neck feels really good. There's a shop in west London that has one for sale, although I still think it's overpriced, it's not in as good condition as this one.
  15. bump! There's an almost identical one going for £825 on Bassgear - but without the all-wenge neck!
  16. Really nice! Where did you find it?
  17.
Yeah yours and mine look pretty much the same and I know about mine so I'd bet my house yours is genuine American. Good news I'd say. Maybe you might want to pick up a Fender branded neckplate off eBay or something just to finish it if you wanted to. steve
Really good news, definitely. It's a rare-ish Precision (lined fretless) that I picked up the other day so I was worried that it may have been a parts bass posing as the real deal. Not a hugely expensive bass but still advertised as a legit MIA, so I'm glad it's all good. Thanks for all your help with this, really appreciate it!
  18. Ok! Here we go, I pulled the neck, and this looks like it's genuine to me - what do you guys reckon?
  19.
Neck looks spot on. It's only a little sticker and was for basses sold in 96. Yours might be earlier or someone's taken the sticker off. What's the neck end and pocket like?
Ok, that's good to know. I'm going to pull the neck off in a minute - the fit is perfect, no gaps, so if someone faked this, they definitely found a good match for the neck.
  20.
PM'd you mate x
replied!
  21. Here's the front and back of the headstock.
  22.
you could take a pic of the neck pocket or under the scratchplate to show wiring pots etc, someone will put you straight. i had a 1998 precision which was through body stringing it had Fender corona on the neck plate.

Here's mine. Looks like I have a 96 neck and a 95 body. This is genuine as I bought it new. steve
Thanks so much guys! Really useful. Steve - that headstock has the 50th anniversary decal on it, right? Or is that a sticker? My headstock doesn't have that, but it's a fretless from 95/96 (serial N55xxxx), so it should have the same decal on there too.
  23.
Do you have an idea of the year it's from? Serial number will be on the front or back of the headstock or on the neckplate. Then we can look at other bits steve
Hi Steve, the bass is mid-90's, neck serial checks out as legitimate, but - and it's a big BUT - the neck plate is blank. Which may mean nothing, but it may also mean someone put a legit neck on a Squier body. The body is string-through by the way. This is why I was asking if there's anything specific on the body that may give me clues - It's a nice light bass, it plays very well so I'm hoping it's fine, but the blank neck-plate bugs me.
  24. I'm doing a bit of investigative work on a p-bass, and I'm trying to establish if the body and pickups are genuine MIA. I've not taken a bass apart before so I'm putting some feelers out to see if anyone can give a bit of advice before I pull the neck off. Are there any markings I should look for in the neck pocket on a genuine (not vintage) MIA? Any serial number locations? Any other body markings or stamps anywhere? How about pickups - any way of telling where they're from? thanks!
