  1. I don't know the answer, but you could check that easily with a multi-meter.
  2. They do it to prove it's legit, folks won't spend thousands without the proof... I also think it's highly unlikely that there are ANY vintage Fenders in existence today, that have never been taken apart... YMMV!
  3. I always try and be polite to requestors, lord knows I'd never do it to a band, but I think it's OK from the general populous. Sometimes you get lucky and you do actually know the song! My caveat with it though is that they wait until you've finished the song your currently playing. Nothing bugs me more on a gig than some p1ssed up punter/puntress trying to shout in your ear when you're mid-song, 'Tell you what mate/love, how about I come down to where you work on Monday and shout in your ear while your working?'
  4. All true of my situation too, also a nice bunch of blokes who enjoy their gigs and don't take themselves too seriously.
  5. Recently started helping out a with mate's band, doing 3 or 4 gigs a month for them, and I'm really enjoying it. Good mix of mostly 80's pop rock, but definitely not your usual pub band fayre.
  6. Saw one of these in PMT Cardiff and have to admit it caught my eye too. Good score!
  7. You must have a time machine! Seriously, WOW 😲
  8. Mega (and I mean MEGA) expensive but the BAE 1073 is apparently incredible. http://www.baeaudio.com/products/1073dmp
  9. Couldn't give a hairy arsed pissing silly billy of a flying flip.
  10. Stunning Bass and some rather tasty playing too! GLWTS! Wish I didn't have home improvements to do....
  11. Shared this on the Facebook Yamaha Attitude page. Hope you dont mind @bigsmokebass..
  12. Was at a local pub gig some time last year, got talking to the bass player. "Nice Stingray", says I. "Have a go", says he. OMG, I swear the action was about a half an inch off the fretboard. I said, "Mate, you're working much harder than you need to be", "I like it like that" he said, "I like to feel it's fighting me back!" We're a strange bunch..
  13. Had Loads over the years, and I mean LOADS. Currently I have: 1978 Precision - bought in 2006 America Elite Precision 2009 Roadworn Precision: Squier Classic Vibe Precision: Bitsa PJ (now has a gold anodised guard):
  14. I think it works really well, love the shape of the headstock too. For me, matching headstocks only work on necks with Rosewood / other dark fingerboards, like this one! Well done, excellent work.!
  15. If your going to do a replacement nut yourself, my advice is to buy 2 or 3. And go file/sand a little / check / repeat when shaping the overall nut size & cutting the slots. And yes, nut files can be very expensive. It's actually quite rewarding when you get it right though!
  16. I have the Helix, so tune through that mostly. But on occasions where I'm not using it, I also have the TC Clipon and I'll never buy a pedal or rack tuner again. It works perfectly. Even in some very noisy rooms.
  17. No, sorry that's not correct. Your amp has a minimum load of 4ohms. If you connect an 8ohm cab and a 4ohm cab in parallel (the normal way) you get a total load of 2.7ohms presented to the amp. Not OK for your Orange OB1. You could get a series cable which will add the ohm's together and present a total load of 12ohms to the amp. This would send 66% of the amp power to the 8ohm cab and 33% to the 4ohm cab. I haven't checked but I guess the Orange is 500w at 4ohm. That power will be reduced at 12ohms. The best advice in this situation is to get another 8ohm cab to go with your 8ohm Orange 4x10. That will present a total load of 4ohms to the amp and give you max. power.
  18. Bloody Ell I think you're right BW. What to do?!?!
  19. Saw this on Bass Direct and it's taken my fancy: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Ellio_Martina_BT4.html The web certainly isn't awash with info/demos on them but I did see Mark Vanderkley playing one here, whilst demoing the aurora amp, listen to that E string! Anyone know any more about them??
  20. Beat me to it! Also the Attitude Bass is made in Japan. I always thought his original decision to stop using Ampeg was due to him observing quality issues with them after production moved to the far east. He's certainly very friendly and helpful on the Facebook page dedicated to the Attitude Bass. As well as his political views, I've never been sure what to make of the scientology thing either. I've always been a kind of 'each to their own' type of person. Although I can feel that changing as I get older......
  21. Noticed this a couple of times lately - folks take the time to put the post up and then disappear and don't respond to any of the advice/help...
