Staining your fingerboard...photos.

Have to agree with the above, it looks amazing. Well Done! -
This is what I've ended up with at the moment: It's an off-white / parchment guard from a 2006 USA Precision. Still undecided, but as it's only being used as a backup I won't lose any sleep right now...

One of the nicest Precisions I've ever had my mitts on was a CS Pino Palladino signature. Not Sunburst, but set it up with a set of TI flats and you really are in P Bass heaven. -
Things you'll never have GAS for again
LewisK1975 replied to Delberthot's topic in General Discussion
Yup, never say never. But at the moment: Anything apart from a 4 string. Large/Heavy Amps / Cabs. Basses with Jazz width nuts. Minimum of 1.625in / 42mm required! Separate effects pedals - The Helix has cured that one! -
Up for Sale is my Tech 21 SansAmp ParaDriver, with Tin / Instructions. Similar to the Bass Driver, but also has a parametric mid control, super useful! Good Youtube vid here: Never thought I'd sell this, it's the only pedal that's been on EVERY pedalboard setup I've ever done. But since I've had the Line6 Helix, there's really no need for me to keep any separates, so everything must go! Only a few left now! £120 delivered to your door in the UK, and I'll even dust in between the knobs before I send it. No trades thanks!

TC electronic spectracomp for sale. Only up for sale due to recently getting a Line 6 Helix. Selling off most of my pedals! Was bought from Thomann as B-Stock, but I don;t know why it was B-stock, it's in perfect condition. £60 gets it delivered to your door anywhere in the UK. Will be sent in the original box. No trades thanks! Great compressor, programmable to hell and back via the toneprint app. See Dood's impressive review video of them here:

Please count me in for one of these, I’m gigging mine regularly and this will certainly help with my concerns about using it at the dog and duck!

OK! A few gigs in now with the Helix. Wow - Just Wow. Fantastic bit of kit. I've set up a patch where I tried to cover most things I might need for my usual cover band set. The patch I created is a blend of 2 signals, clean low end with (switchable) octave down & then a hi-mids/treble signal with (all switchable) overdrive, octave up, chorus and flanger. Both signals also start with some compression. Then it's mono XLR out direct to the PA and using in-ears. It's a lot of fun creating the patches, trying different amps/cabs/mics for the different signal paths etc, which overdrive sounds best etc, and I'm very pleased with what I've managed to create so far. Also the ability to share patches with other helix users is really cool. Even if you don't end up using them yourself, I've so far found them to be a good 'education' on what you can do. Or indeed use them as starting points for creating my own patches. Who knows what's around the corner, but I can definitely say for now that the Helix is providing everything I need to sound great. And to be honest, I don't think I've even scratched the surface with it yet...

In my post I said that I understood the point being made about the bass having a Fender logo. I'm not disputing that. My point was that the listing had been used as an example of someone buying what they believed to be a genuine Fender. Whilst that is true, IMHO the reason for that belief cannot be ignored. He believed Limelight Basses to be re-worked genuine Fenders. He was wrong, but spent his money without doing the proper research (he's openly admitted this). This reminds me of stickers on those paint removal heat guns which say 'Do not use as a hair dryer'.

Seems logical to me. In the method you describe, all 6 speakers should still put out the same volume as each other but would show more resistance to the amp, and enable you to add another 8ohm cab to your rig. Obviously, you'll need to turn the master output up a little higher than before when using the modded 6x10. But as has been said on here many times before, the actual audible difference between 500w and 1000w is not nearly as dramatic as you might think.

RE: The Limelight sale thread that's being referred to as an example. Yes, it has a Fender logo. I understand the point being made regarding that. But, AFAICS the listing advertised it as a Limelight. The problem was that the buyer did not understand what Limelight did. The buyer incorrectly believed that Limelight took factory produced Fenders and reliced / pimped them and then re-sold them. That is very clearly the buyer's own fault, surely? The seller has not attempted to deceive potential buyers, and Basschat has no responsibility to educate them about Limelight's business model either..

Yep, another shout out here for the lower end Yamaha Basses, they represent amazing VFM on the 2nd hand market. Like this, £221 new. I bet it's brilliant. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/13100717285058--yamaha-trbx174osv-old-violin-sunburst

Yep, nice work Bill, cutting through the mix like a hot knife thru Butter!

Admittedly I haven't bought many albums this year, but from what I have got, the best I've heard is the Sons Of Apollo album, Psychotic Symphony. All star line up of Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian, Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal & Jeff Scott Soto. Not one for everyone, but well worth it if you're into that sort of thing...
