Plus a Kustom practice amp, gig bag and cable for £89.99 bargain for someone I think.
6. Yep, very nice indeed. Loved the sound from 'The Chain' vid.
7.
No he's Blair, same as me :-) Aye Lewis. Have the later Koa RSB too (RSB stands for Rudy Sarzo Bass). One of these days I'll find a Sarzo Cirrus.
Fabulous, Davie. Every time I see one I get the GAS. There was one in The Gallery in Camden for a while last year IIRC. THink they wanted about £550 for it...
8.
When are you getting yours?
Very tempted Matt!, It would make a lovely partner to my Natural one...
9. Here's a vid of Chris Chaney demoing using the new colours. The turquoise p bass looks great! https://youtu.be/trijQnaLPrk
10.
Apparantly there are known for being a bit rubbish. I bloody hate active electronics. I am happy to live with one pick up and fit new electronics. Although how do I decide between neck and bridge???
Ah OK, I wasn't aware they had a 'rep' for that. I suppose if that is the case, then there's bound to be others who have modified / upgraded...
The first thing you'll want to do is measure the size of the pickups to ensure that an alternative will drop straight in, as that will soon scupper your chances of changing things out should you have to carve holes in the body.
Yep, if you're gonna change the pickups, then this will save you a lot of time and heartache.
11. Isn't the K5 active? It shouldn't be 'weak' sounding....
12. I'm pretty sure that's a 1.65" nut.
13. Interestingly, they've gone the opposite way for the Jazz: Champagne - has the pearl plate and maple board: Ocean Turquoise has the Tort plate and Ebony board: I prefer the champagne on those, guess that proves I prefer maple fingerboards!
14. I love my natural Elite P Bass, so was excited to see these pop up:- Champagne: Ocean Turquoise: Quite like the Turquoise, not fussed on the Champagne personally. YMMV!
15. Yep very cool. Mistake though IMHO to do the back of the neck. That will feel awful in the hand.
16.
Would BEAD work in the meantime?
This was gonna be my suggestion...
17. OK so maybe a silly question Davie, but have you got one of the Rudy Sarzo signatures from the late 80's / early 90's? I remember drooling over those reading guitarist mag in the back of my maths class.
18.
Am I right in thinking that he didn't actually use the Ric as much as peeps in general think? For me the Jazz bass he was using had the best tone YMMV of course Great band though, seen them several times although annoying missed the R40 tour.
I think he used Rics a lot (if not exclusively) live during the 70's / early 80's. It's up for debate on what he used to record. There are a few interviews where Geddy says even he can't remember..... Back on topic, 'Beyond the lighted stage' is great. The other more recent one 'Time stand still' is a documentary about the R40 tour and the end of the band, certainly as a live entity anyway. It's a bittersweet watch TBH if you're a big fan.
19. Do what I did - get a cheap squire PJ. Modding your 70's P bass is something not to be done lightly. It's irreversible if it doesn't work out. Here's the thread where I asked a similar question: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/311537-buy-cheap-backup-vs-modify/page__fromsearch__1
20. Bump with a price drop to £1100. Also edited full Ad to include part trade options.
21. Yep, can't deny his genius or his contribution to making the Bass more 'recognised' , regardless of whether you're into his music or not....
22. Weekend bump! Also now for sale on Facebook groups...
