1. Interestingly, they've gone the opposite way for the Jazz: Champagne - has the pearl plate and maple board: Ocean Turquoise has the Tort plate and Ebony board: I prefer the champagne on those, guess that proves I prefer maple fingerboards!
2. I love my natural Elite P Bass, so was excited to see these pop up:- Champagne: Ocean Turquoise: Quite like the Turquoise, not fussed on the Champagne personally. YMMV!
3. Yep very cool. Mistake though IMHO to do the back of the neck. That will feel awful in the hand.
4.
Would BEAD work in the meantime?
This was gonna be my suggestion...
5. OK so maybe a silly question Davie, but have you got one of the Rudy Sarzo signatures from the late 80's / early 90's? I remember drooling over those reading guitarist mag in the back of my maths class.
6.
Am I right in thinking that he didn't actually use the Ric as much as peeps in general think? For me the Jazz bass he was using had the best tone YMMV of course Great band though, seen them several times although annoying missed the R40 tour.
I think he used Rics a lot (if not exclusively) live during the 70's / early 80's. It's up for debate on what he used to record. There are a few interviews where Geddy says even he can't remember..... Back on topic, 'Beyond the lighted stage' is great. The other more recent one 'Time stand still' is a documentary about the R40 tour and the end of the band, certainly as a live entity anyway. It's a bittersweet watch TBH if you're a big fan.
7. Do what I did - get a cheap squire PJ. Modding your 70's P bass is something not to be done lightly. It's irreversible if it doesn't work out. Here's the thread where I asked a similar question: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/311537-buy-cheap-backup-vs-modify/page__fromsearch__1
8. Bump with a price drop to £1100. Also edited full Ad to include part trade options.
9. Gonna have to get along to one of these one day!
10. Yep, can't deny his genius or his contribution to making the Bass more 'recognised' , regardless of whether you're into his music or not....
11. Weekend bump! Also now for sale on Facebook groups...
12. Fingers crossed for you!
13.
The crowd footage from that gig is the stuff of legend!
Indeed, and I was there!
14. Tis a thing of beauty! If my Yamaha Attitude sells in time I shall be all over this!
15. Saw them at Sonisphere in 2014, I was waiting for The Winery Dogs, and Chas and Dave were playing before them. Great fun and really got the crowd going, and yes, great Bass lines.
16. First Bump Trade / Part Trade options now in Ad.
17. Wouldn't be able to run a guitar and bass at the same time, but the Tech21 ParaDriver DI works really well for both guitar and Bass.
18.
Do you have any more spec on the bass? even a model number or anything. Thanks
It's a standard Mexican made model. Can't know the year of manufacture without the serial.
19. 25/9/17 - NOW £1100 28/9/17 - SALE £950 or; TRADE £1100 Up for Sale is my Yamaha Attitude LTD2 in Black. These don't come up very often, and given the price of the LTD3 model, they now represent pretty good VFM.. Bought new by me in 2009, no other owners. Up for sale as I've now got a LTD3 as well and keeping 2 of these is just silly! The Bass has all the usual refinements you'd expect - Hipshot D-Tuner, Dual outputs, Dimarzio pickups, scalloped upper frets on the D & G strings etc.. Only modification is the replacement of the nut, from the White one it came with, to a black tusq nut. And I think it looks much better! It has been used, done a few gigs but not many, I've used it more at home really. The bridge/saddles paint is worn from use, and there are marks on the pickup covers from the strings. That's how low the action is on this one, very close to the pickups and it sounds ANGRY. Plays beautifully. There is a small paint chip on the rear edge of the belly chamfer, shown in the pics, with a 5p for scale.. Comes with the blue-lined Yamaha Hardcase I got with it, which is marked, but only cosmetically affected. All catches and hinges working fine. Also has the paperwork, allen keys and keys for the case. I'm Based in the Bridgend Area of South Wales, but as always I'm willing to travel to do a deal with a fellow Basschatter. Not really looking for trades, but could possibly be open to a p/ex with cash my way. Try me, you never know! Trade / Part Trade options would include: - Barefaced two10 / Four10 Fender Precisions / PJ's w/P-shaped body / SQ JV P / with Precision width nuts (1.625" / 42mm) Any questions, please ask! Pics below, also there's a link to some photobucket pictures, taken before I replaced the nut and put the truss rod cover back on... Cheers! http://s53.photobuck...itude%20Ltd%202
20. I think the best Bass endorsement I've seen for this unit is the fact that Billy Sheehan is now using one (the LT) for his live rig. Like or dislike his tone, he's a fiend for compressors / bass distortions / signal paths. If it's good enough for him to use live, then who am I to argue? 21. Re: The Who One of the Planet Rock presenters quoted Pete Townshend yesterday as saying most of the songs were essentially them Jamming along to a Keith Moon drum solo.
22. Very nice, great pictures too.
23.
The Foo's for me too. I like Dave Grohl. Always comes across really well. To be honest, so do the rest of the band. I'm just not a fan of the music, even though i'd really like to be!!
With you on this one Kert, aside of the first 2 albums, which I do like, it's been essentially rock music for folks who don't like rock music.
24.
Lifeson makes my teeth itch when he solos. In fact I'm not sure he does solo. I think he throws the guitar down the stairs and just records that.
Horses for courses, sure, but even this? https://youtu.be/78D00dYOBrM
