Davie made me a cutting / routing template for my Harley Benton PB-50 to re-shape the headstock into the traditional tele shape. He refused to take payment for the template and posted it to me at his own cost, as well as giving me detailed instructions on how to use it for best results. Davie's a real credit to BC and a true gent! Cheers Davie!

As far as I remember the neck on the Mex version is the same as the neck on the Jap version. I.e., very thin. It's only the US version which has the thicker neck specs.
That's the thing, if you're happy with the nut width and fairly chunky handful, the PB-50 necks play very nicely. Great value, imho.
Couldn't agree more, the neck on mine is excellent too. The fit in the neck pocket is what amazed me the most for a Bass of this price point, it's super tight!
Was happy to help That reminds me I promised LewisK one. Better get the saw out this weekend
Haha, no rush Davie. Cheers matey.
And yes, that bass does not need a J-PUP
You're right of course, it doesn't need a Jazz pickup. It's spectacular as it is. When I saw it first it reminded me of my '78, lovingly christened 'Deedee' by a former bandmate: It's just that I'm loving my PJ at the moment. No offence intended, YMMV etc!
Yeah, I like PJs too. I have an American P at the moment, but like you, when playing often wish for the J in there. Could get one added I guess, but probably better to sell and buy a PJ. Saying all that, I really don't need one either, I have this (slightly different, and lovely) PJ that I had made for me by Chris McIntyre here in Edinburgh. I just have a nostalgic hankering for a P Plus.....
That is one Smaaaaaart looking Bass.

It's a looker for sure, with addition of 60's position Jazz pickup at the bridge it's have me GASsing badly.....
-
Very nice, is it a custom build from Fender Parts? And what Pickup is that?
-
Awesome, we've got the P1's in our band but don't use them in true stereo so the P2 makes a lot of sense, I'm in! EDIT: Wonder when they'll be on sale, Googling doesn't bring anything up a the moment.
We probably have mutual friends, who do you play with mate?
My main gigging covers band is The Coversluts. We used to do The Claude quite regularly but not done it so far this year. Cardiff-wise, I know Rich Boucher who was in FFAF until they retired, and Dan Goode who's in 2tickets2thegunshow. Marc S on here is also a great chap.. Cheers Lewis

Slightly off topic but I can't help wondering why the 2x8 cab is sooooo expensive compared to the amp and the 1x10??!!

"Dad, I want to play bass, who should I listen to?"
LewisK1975 replied to interpol52's topic in General Discussion
From the OP, I have to agree on GNR's Appetite for Destruction. Love or loathe the band, on Bass it's pretty straightforward technically, and it's a great starting point for a learner to grasp how a bass player and drummer work together to create a groove. -
Spotted this but haven't watched it as yet, might just do it when I get home from work today.

Should I cancel gig I am going to for my bands gig?
Far better to have an annoyed band rather than an angry wife!
Happy Wife = Happy Life. -
Welcome Aidan, I'm from Bridgend, and there's more than a few other South Walians on here too. Enjoy the forum, the only word of warning is that it's a terrible place for giving you G.A.S.!

Yep they are great, I had a similar setup for while, 2 supercompacts and was using the BH250 amp / also had an Ashdown ABM1000. Great punchy sound and venue dependent I would use 1 or both. Ultimately I decided to try a two10 and found out that suited me even better (I must like a bit of colour from the cabs).

Probably the most famous champion of the 2 amp setup is Billy Sheehan. There's plenty of Youtube vids / rig rundowns where he explains it in detail and why he does it. He has 2 totally separate signal chains. One comes from the EB0 position pickup on his Yamaha Attitude and stays clean, keeping the low frequencies rumbling away, and the other signal comes from the split-P pickup on the bass and has little / no bass frequencies at all, and this is where he adds the distortion / other effects. I did something similar for a while but by having a stereo pedal board, feeding 2 inputs on our mixer. It works really well for not losing your low end when bass distortions are used. I do wonder with all the current crop of expensive bass distortions around (Darkglass etc) whether it'll even be an issue in the future..

Why Do Some People On BC Seem To Have No Sense Of Humor
LewisK1975 replied to Thunderbird's topic in General Discussion
I looked it up too. That's a new one on me.
And me. -
Thanks Lozz & Clive, another 2 great deals done. Both of you top guys to deal with. Very easy, smooth transactions from start to finish.
-
I spotted Clive's wanted Ad for a TC spectracomp and after a couple of messages we'd sorted out the deal, Clive paid straight away and I posted the same day. Thanks again Clive and enjoy the pedal!

Sold my Ashdown AB1000 to Lozz, excellent comms and swift payment received. Cheers Lozz!

At the moment I'm getting a good consistent tone I'm very happy with. How? I'm using a DI at the end of my pedal board and in-ears. No amp on stage. What's been said above is true, the same Bass & Amp will sound different from venue to venue, so it'll have you grinning from ear to ear one night and pulling your hair out the next night.
