1. We did a 3 date mini tour last weekend with 2 other bands, great time had by all. 1st gig (Thu) was at The Pit, in Swansea. Should have been at The Scene, but venue was changed due to the Scene being trashed by some clubbers the week before. Great gig, good FOH and engineer. 2nd was at The Musician in Leicester, another great venue, but we (being 1st on) were pushed for time at soundcheck and were unable to use our sequencer (used in a couple of tunes) so had to improvise a little, still a great night. Strangely enough we had a hotel for the night too, and at Breakfast we realised that we were sharing a hotel with McCanns! That was a bit of a shock! 3rd Gig on Saturday was at Surya, in Kings Cross London, small venue, again a great FOH and engineer. Overall we had a blast, and a lot of sleep on Sunday!
2.
This is so similar to our situation at the minute Lew, i had to look to see if i had written it!! Our drummers exact words when i asked if he'd learnt them was "i had a quick listen" too!! Its the same apart from him being reliable actually He has forgotten about a couple of practices and is often late. But it's like you say we are all mates after playing together for as long as we have. Worst/most annoying part for me is our drummer thought it was ok, and not an issue, because it "all comes together in the end"
Haha!!
3.
Mainly due to ambivalence from other band members for me. I've quit 2 bands in the past because of other band members not wanting to learn new songs, albeit one of them was also due to gig clashes with my other (originals) band at the time becoming a problem. My particular favourite being when the band members agreed on 3 new songs to learn, and so I booked a rehearsal room for a week's time. Turned up for rehearsal the following week and it became obvious that the drummer hadn't even listened to them. I just asked him outright if he'd learned them, and he replied 'I've had a quick listen'. Spent the entire 3 hour rehearsal on one song. I put up with it for ages as he was a reliable guy and not a tw@t, but in the end enough was enough..the band didn't continue without me. Says it all really.

How long did it take before you realized it wasn't for you? The reason I ask, once it took me 4 rehearsals when it should have taken 1. Blue
It was a bit different to that really, we were a gigging band that had been going for a few years, and to a certain extent we'd all settled into playing the same stuff every gig. The odd new tune getting added here and there. I really wanted to revamp the set as I felt that we were becoming bored and sooner or later audiences will definitely pick up on that. We all got on as friends too so I didn't want the band to stop. This is when we agreed to learn some new stuff and we agreed on the 3 songs as a start... We did continue for some time after, but after our New Years Eve gig for '14 into '15 I took some time and made my decision to quit.
4. Indeed! someone got a nice one there...
5.
Mine would be a '75, so I reckon a Jazz bass would be best.
Same here, and here's my '75 Jazz.

7. Open to trade offers? Or Sale only?
8. Don't know why, but it really doesn't do it for me. Ho hum, it'd be a boring world if we all liked the same things!
9. £480 starting price, certainly a bargain if it stays down that low. 10. Kev, Did you check on the jack socket if the metal part which makes contact with the tip of the cable has bent out of shape? i.e., take the bell plate off and plug a cable in, and see if the cable tip and curved part of the socket 'tab' are contacting correctly? Like this: That's the simplest thing I can think to look at....
11. This won't be very helpful at all I'm afraid - I've gone from minimal pedals (tuner, comp, chorus in a bcb-30) right through to a Pedaltrain with a stereo output setup (used with a yamaha attitude): I now find myself right back again at just plugging straight into my amp (TC BH250 utilizing the spectracomp toneprint) and DI'ing to the PA. Only thing I'm finding myself missing is the occasional octaver. Sorry if that's negative sounding, it's just where I find myself right now........ I suppose a good starting point for you would be to consider what sort of sounds you really like from the multi effects unit and look at getting the individual pedals which could achieve something similar??
12.
PS. "The point" had closed due to a single complaint! And "Fuel Rock Club" is under threat due to yes, a single complaint! And the resident who filed the complaint is renting, and not even an owner occupier!
Complete insanity. Cannot believe that Womanby st is under threat. It's in the City Centre & has been a live music area for as long as I can remember, when will this madness end? Does this same person complain about the noise in the city centre on Rugby International Days? Lets get the Millenium stadium shut down too is it?!
13.
Yes, I remember The Point fondly. Played there a few times, it was always a good night. Sadly missed. I hope the git who complained has an infestation of fleas.
Me too, great venue. Enjoyed many nights there!
14. Depends how many other bands are playing really. If it's just you and then the headliners, you'll probably get anything up to an hour. For instance - my prog band is doing a mini tour next month with 2 other bands, we're on first and getting 40 mins.
15.
And to add insult to injury its one of the few remaining places with carpet everywhere. The one place I always get a great bass sound and some moaning git ruins it. The pub just had some changes made to the band area to improve the experience too. Big shame.
Indeed a terrible shame. Wonder if the same guy would move next to Heathrow and then start complaining about the noise of the Planes taking off / landing. He does have his own noise meter. B3llend.
16. One place I played with a former band a few years ago in Swansea had the strangest thing going on. Large pub split into 2 places, I think it actually used to be 2 separate businesses and they did a large doorway knock-thru type thing. Band played in the smaller room and in the larger room they had a separate DJ playing current music at a similar volume to the band. The strange thing was the only thing separating the two rooms was a curtain pulled across the wide open double door! Basically when you were between songs all you could hear was the disco from next door through the curtain. People only came into the band room if the main room was full!!
17. This really grates doesn't it, move next to a pub well known for having regular music and then start complaining about noise. FFS! Surely if you think it's going to be a problem just don't buy the house in the first place? I despair, I really do.
18. 3 weeks from France, mad really isn't it how these things can vary. When you consider you can get stuff from Thomann in a few days. Different I know, but distance-wise...........
19. And they've got 3 for 2 on Dunlop Super Brights at the moment, ordered yesterday and delivered today. Awesome.
20.
I really like the TV format of having bands doing a short set instead of one song in a circle, like Later... Obviously OGWT and The Tube had this format, but also Channel 4's short lived The White Room from the mid 90s (anyone remember that?) which was a great show. It allows a band to get into the groove a lot more than doing one song and stopping again, which results in a much better performance I think.
Yep, The white room was great, hosted by Mark Radcliffe, ran for 4 series between 94-96 (wikipedia).
21. Take a breath guys. No guitar shop I've ever been in lets you just grab stuff off the wall that you fancy having a go of. And even if I saw someone else doing that, I'd still ask first.
22. Dunlop SuperBright Nickels 45-105 for me. Was looking for a low tension set and various threads and indeed the Dunlop web page were particularly keen to point out that they were surprisingly low tension. Got a set and have been very impressed for over a year with them now. I gig every weekend (always 1, sometimes 2 or 3 gigs) and they last at least 3 months for me. I do always wipe down after a gig though, so YMMV! Can be had for sub £20 on ebay too. Lovely.
23. I guess Ryan Martinie wasn't available? He filled in when Fieldy took time out a few years ago when his mrs had a baby. Or if he was available, he must be pretty annoyed to have a 12yr old asked instead of him.
