1.
I always thought that "Waiting for an alibi" is a flanger & "Dancing in the moonlight" is a phaser.
Based on the responses I reckon you could get with using either effect on either song!
2. +1 for the TC BH250, cracking little amp. Toneprints are excellent, although I really only use the (excellent) spectracomp.
3. Been on IEM's for some time now. At the moment, I use my TC BH250 as a DI (spectracomp is brilliant) into the Behringer X18, JBL tops, mackie subs, and I use the Ultimate ears UE900s IEM's (as recommended by Russ). Takes a bit of getting used to, and only works really well if everyone is using them.
4. Edited with a very specific trade option - otherwise now Sale only
5. Thanks for all the replies guys, all very helpful! Marc, for me it would have to be the RW P neck, although I would really like it if it was a little narrower, like 1.65" instead of 1.75". IIRC your RW P has a slimmed down neck?....
6. I've always thought Thin Lizzy's 'Waiting for an alibi' gives a great representation of a phased Bass sound. Nice and high in the mix too.
7.
This does seem like the best solution..Time to get mocking up I think!
So I'd end up with something like this:
8.
A P bass with Jazz pickups, with a suitably-placed thumb-rest?
This does seem like the best solution..Time to get mocking up I think!
9. And here lies my problem - It's the shape and position of the precision pickup which feels right to me when I'm playing. When I put my thumb behind the screw 'ear' of a Precision pickup it instantly feels right. So I suppose the question is, is there a precision shaped pickup that sounds like a Jazz pickup? I'm guessing not, due to the single vs split coil.......
10. Here's a challenge for you my fellow Bass Brethren!, Is there a Bass which looks like a precision and feels like a precision when you play it, but sounds like a Jazz? Through donkeys years of trial and error, I've come to the frustrating conclusion that I prefer the feel of precisions, but prefer the sound of a Jazz. I'm toying with the idea of adding a J pickup to my Roadworn Precision, but I only expect this to get me 'in the ball park' as it were... What's out there for me? Anything? Or will I just have to suck it up?
11.
As we are on the subject of fretboard cleaning...has anyone tried "Gorgomite" ? It claims to clean both fretboard and frets...at the same time !! This eliminates the need for masking the board when cleaning the frets ? http://gorgomyte.com/index.html
Yep - I've got some and it's great stuff, doesn't smell particularly nice, but does the job admirably.
12. Very nice, I'd have to agree with the 9.7/10, this is one of the cleanest example I've seen. I had the 5'er for a while and was mightily impressed. GLWTS.
13. Looks like I may be able to come to this one too - pretty sure my Sunday is going to be clear and I can't think of a better way to spend it. I'll add what Gear I'll bring when I confirm with 'er indoors. It's a couple of hours drive, but I think it'll be worth it..
14. Don't know for sure - but in the 3rd pic where you show the back of the neck, it looks like the headstock section is a different piece of wood to the rest of the neck? You can see a diagonal line where the different woods appear to join? Perhaps there was a headstock break and that section was replaced? Could be that's how they were made in the first place, but that seems unusual to me.... The nut alignment should be easy enough to sort out, tap it off and re-glue it in the correct position.
15. Ashdown sell em for a quid through their website: http://ashdownmusic.com/shop/product.php?id=2515 There's a dropdown box on that page where you can select which VU meter you want to buy, at the bottom of the list you'll see the bulb.
16. i think the only real advice here is to get it to an amp tech? Intermittent faults are a bugger, but if it's now dead, it should be easier to diagnose...
17. +1 - they repaired my ABM1000 for free, all I paid was the cost of postage to get it to them..
18.
All inbuilt wifi is pretty pants in my experience - defo one for having a play at home or rehearsal... but for live use, I'd definitely want a more resilient router. There will be as many people who will have an opposing view but there you go. Check out the Facebook forums for the Behringer X stuff and you'll see it comes up on pretty much a daily basis.
I resolved to simply use my X18 with a wired connection to laptop. No good for wandering around out front I know, but I generally do the mix from where I stand anyway... I think I'll take it wireless one day, so then a trusted, competent person can make adjustments while the band is playing rather than having to relay messages to me in between songs...I prefer baby steps when it comes to these sort of things!
19.
Oh no mate. Sorry to hear of your redundancy woes! Great looking bass, and I can say with absolute confidence that FuNkShUi is an absolute gent An absolutely trustworthy bloke, great BC'er and you can deal in total confidence with him Good luck with the sale of this beauty mate But most of all, good luck on the job front....
Couldn't have put it better myself.
20.
they might be on the new white version, 1st 2 editions had spb1's.......I think anyway....
1st edition 2001 (MIJ - LPB clouor with the red pickguard) had the SPB-3 2nd edition 2009 (MIJ - Blue sparkle with mirror pickguard) had the SPB-1 3rd edition 2015 (MIM - White with mirror guard and WHUFC logo) has the SPB-4
21. I've also been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times and have had some e-contact too. Genuinely helpful chap, and his knowledge is seemingly endless.
22. Paul, my apologies, I missed your question. After consideration I am withdrawing the Bass from Sale. Thanks all.
