  1. I agree it shouldn't need it, just pointing out I've seen it before.
  2. The neck / string alignment thing can happen with any bolt-on neck during transit. Should just need a pull one-way or the other to sort that out. IMHO the major thing wrong with these is that the pickup itself is barely wide enough to cover all 4 strings. It wouldn't take much placement error at all to get it wrong. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending it at all, just seems to me they didn't consider this when coming up with the design. All the other complaints - neck dive, preferred truss rod access etc is stuff we've been saying about Basses for ever.
  3. Yep looks like it's barely been out of the case never mind gigged. Expensive? Certainly. But as is said above, don't think I've seen a cleaner 51-52 year old bass than that.
  4. Few bits popped up on Youtube already. They were filming for a DVD release at the Wolverhampton show apparently. I've also just been watching the show from the old Town & Country club back in the day. Also fantastic.
  5. Excellent purchase, I Always wanted one of these - When I first started playing at 14/15yrs old, The Whitesnake album Slip of the Tongue came out around the same time and I remember seeing Sarzo playing one in the 'Fool for your loving' video.
  6. Don't know if he's been mentioned yet but this guy is a monster player. https://www.youtube.com/@TJH3113 Mostly him playing along to songs, great if you're into Rush, and he's got some lovely Basses too. Loved Guy Pratt's Lockdown Licks, always have a click through Andertons All about the Bass, SBL, Bass the World, Low end Lobster, Luke from Become a Bassist to name but a few and of course our very own @Dood has a great channel too (DanVeallBassist). My other favourites (not necessarily Bass related sorry) are Premier Guitar rig rundowns, Dave's World of Fun Stuff, Circle of Tone, Justin Hawkins, JHS pedals...
  7. Yep I've done a deal with Will recently and he's an absolute gent. Email's back and fore beforehand were excellent, and my goodness he's got some lovely stuff there!
  8. I've only ever been asked as part of a whole band, when signing CD's etc for someone. Never individually!
  9. Me and a few are going to Wolverhampton on Friday. Looking forward!
  10. It's great when you find 'your' strings. Personally for me it's Dunlop super bright nickels 45-105. Quite bright at first but they settle quickly, and then stay the same for ages. They're also lower tension than other 45-105's out there that I've tried, which was something I'd been looking for for a long time. Haven't done any proper recording for a while, but when I did I would usually put a fresh set on about a week before, and make sure to play a bit every night on them so they lose the initial over the top zing..
  11. Yep - You can't go far wrong with a Sansamp. I've used the Bass Driver and the Paradriver direct to PA, both excellent pieces of kit, and like someone else said above, run off phantom power.
  12. Rusty Cage by Soundgarden has vexed me for years. I know the first half of the song is ultimately a 4/4, but I'm damned if I can find/hear the 'one' when I listen to it, and I've listened, A LOT hahaha.. The second half of the song, which is technically more challenging time signature-wise, I can get that no problem, weird!
  13. Lovely Job Andy! Looks the business. Always impressed by the sound of these too..
  14. I'll just add 'I'm hungry' to that...
  15. Honestly - If I had the money there, and I really wanted something, and felt it was priced realistically, I'd buy it. No limit.
  16. Just checked Thomann and the LPB is currently £306. I've already got one of the China made CV's in the Fiesta Red, so I certainly don't need another good Squier, but goodness me it's pretty...
  17. I sold this Bass to Ed and it was me who did all the detective work with Fender to find out about the factory mess up with the neck. No reason to be concerned at all regarding the provenance, deal with confidence! It's a great Bass. GLWTS Ed!
  18. Great colour on that!
  19. Those are definitely SPB-3's / Quarter Pounders Dave - You can tell by the size of the Pole Pieces. Lovely Bass, stick a mirror pickguard on there and get your Maiden Tribute band going! GLWTS!
  20. As it would be with or without the WHU crest on it, which was my original point in response to Lozz, it IS off-putting for many. More to the point, ANY P Bass, be it black, white, red, blue or sunburst is just a paint job. We all have our preferences. I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't consider aesthetics AT ALL when buying a guitar / bass.. The SH sig also has the Mirror Pickguard, and I think now his SPB-4 Seymour Duncan pickup, plus his signature rotosound Flatwounds. All unique to that model..
  21. Bought some tuners from Simon - great comms and everything went really smoothly, deal with confidence! Cheers Simon!
  22. Agreed Loz - Fender should take note of this type of approach and drop the West Ham crest from the Steve Harris sig.
  23. Bought a stunning Yamaha Bass from Andy - deal was done very smoothly and pickup went as planned (just a shame neither of us really had any time for a chat!), couldn't ask for more, cheers Andy!
  24. That's stunning Andy! - I wonder if that will arrive before I come to collect the Yamaha from you... And if so will I be allowed to even look at it?!?! Seriously tho - Beautiful Bass!
  25. Gulp! And I'm up in Manchester next Friday 26th.....
