1.
The L6 guys on another forum have been teasing. It appears that the Pearce they used to get the model is a "legendary" one. I'm thinking it might be Sheehan's modified one. Giggity.
It is. Confirmed by the man himself to Jon Willis at the NAMM show. There's a post/thread about it on the Yamaha Attitude facebook page.
2.
A previously enjoyed one has just appeared on the Bass Direct used page representing a rather decent saving.... http://www.bassdirec...ll_3tSB_P4.html
This has been tickling my fancy too. No way I can justify the spend at the moment though, and I like all of my Basses too much to let any go in PX at the moment............sigh
3. In our covers band we have a girl singer and do pretty much exclusively modern pop tunes, with a couple of older songs thrown in here and there. Relatively well known in the area for being one of the only bands who have a set like this, amongst a sea of dad rock bands. We still get asked regularly if we do any AC/DC. My usual response is - 'Next week's band'll do that mate'.
4. Everything suggested above will work fine - I've used matchsticks / toothpicks before now and it's worked OK for me.
5. Cover band - Rita Ora - I will never let you down Original band - 1st track of album, 'Heavy situation' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GF_MENE7lY
6. I'd say so Karl - two 12ohm cabs in parallel = 6ohm load presented to the amp.
7. Indeed, very nice, neat setup. Good luck with the wedding too.
8. You could also mount that amp on a pedalboard if you wanted. Granted you'd still need to run a cable to the cab.
9.
Helpful.... This looks like an interesting piece of kit and, providing the £ price doesn't exceed the $, it looks like a good price too! Haven't checked, but do tech 21 sell power amps to accompany this??
Dunno either Kev, I did note with interest though, that a 'trend' that popped up at the NAMM show was pedalboard mountable power amps. Saw it on a youtube vid.
10. Haha, no certainly not the RW Jazz, it was a 75ri Jazz, which had become something of an ornament in the house, so a no-brainer for me really. I'll definitely use the Flea.
11. Yep - couldn't resist Marc - Put up one of mine with every intention of selling, then the Flea was offered in trade. Oops, still got too many...trouble is now, it'll be even harder to let any of them go, I've got a soft spot for all of them. Doh!
12. Delighted to start this one off - met Paul on the M6 last Sunday for a Bass trade. Had a great chat about all things Bass, would not hesitate to deal with Paul again..Cheers Matey!
13.
Met Lewis on Sunday for a trade, my jazz for his jazz.. an absolute pleasure of a deal, and a pleasant couple of hours chat over coffee to boot! A genuinely helpful and knowledgeable chap, would not hesitate to deal with him again, Paul.
Cheers Paul, can only echo everything you've said above, thanks again for a great deal (and apologies for my tardiness!)...
14. Some pics of mine, FWIW, I know they're all pretty much the same!
15. 45-105, Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, which are very low tension. Been using them for the best part of a year now with no complaints. Getting good life out of them too.
16. I was also pleasantly surprised at the 'notched' tone sections of the stack knobs, reminded me of the gain/master knobs on the old Trace Elliot amps, and gives a feeling of quality....nice touch!
17. I'm in the same dilemma as the OP - picked up a used 12ohm two10 and ordered the 4ohm conversion kit from Alex. Mine did come with full instructions, and they emailed them to me as well in PDF, so if you'd like them, let me know and I'll pass it on. Haven't done the conversion either, I've gigged and rehearsed it at 12ohms, and that was only with a TC BH250 head, and had no problems at all. Having spent on the kit, I kind of feel I should get it done, but it really works fine as it is.......
18. I heard a lot of people raving about the Trickfish Bullhead .5k - 500 watt amp. I think it won one of the awards at the show.
19. Picked up one of these today! First impressions are great!
20. And you Paul, great chat, we'll have to do it again sometime!
21. Cheers for the PM's chaps - All replied - Listing is on hold for now - trade meeting arranged for this Sunday.
22.
Wow. this is an absolute bargain. These are superb basses.
Thanks for that and PM's replied to! Couple of decent offers, but nothing to push me over the edge at the moment..
23. For your pleasure; Here's my 2003 USA Fender 75 re-issue Jazz, For Sale / Trade. Weight currently not measured, but it's not lightweight, I'd guess around 9.5lbs, but I'll measure more accurately later. Bought S/H by myself from Bass Direct March 2016. Only ever used at home by me, but obviously been gigged by previous owner(s). Not a museum piece by any stretch of the imagination, there are some good dings on the Headstock, which I've tried to capture as best I can. That's the worst of any damage though and it's not been affected structurally in any way. Also has the 'period correct' orange lined Fender Hard Case it came with. I don't have the ashtray / pickup cover, they weren't with it when I bought it. It's not been drilled to mount the ashtray either, which I believe is somewhat rare. Has a Kiogon solderless loom fitted, it had a J-retro when I bought it, but I didn't get along with that. It also had a replacement KSM Bridge when I got it, this has also been replaced back to spec with a genuine Fender 75ri Bridge, which I had to get from the US via eBay. Bass is in Bridgend area of South Wales but I can deliver or meet up within reason. Bass is also advertised on a local FB page for he same price / trade value. Cash is obviously King, but I am Open to trades on this one, not really 100% sure what I fancy, I'm not really Gassing for anything in particular at the moment, so try me with anything, I can only politely refuse! Feel free to ask any questions! Thanks for looking.
24. If that photo is not an Orange advert, it really should be. They are the only things in that picture apart from things made of stone / concrete that are still structurally together.
25. Yep - have to agree with everything being said, I was hankering for one of these for ages, and was lucky enough to pick one up on here before Christmas. Whoever gets this certainly won't be disappointed..
