Met Lewis on Sunday for a trade, my jazz for his jazz.. an absolute pleasure of a deal, and a pleasant couple of hours chat over coffee to boot! A genuinely helpful and knowledgeable chap, would not hesitate to deal with him again, Paul.
Cheers Paul, can only echo everything you've said above, thanks again for a great deal (and apologies for my tardiness!)...

Some pics of mine, FWIW, I know they're all pretty much the same!

45-105, Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, which are very low tension. Been using them for the best part of a year now with no complaints. Getting good life out of them too.

I was also pleasantly surprised at the 'notched' tone sections of the stack knobs, reminded me of the gain/master knobs on the old Trace Elliot amps, and gives a feeling of quality....nice touch!

Advice needed on Barefaced cab conversion
LewisK1975 replied to lownote's topic in General Discussion
I'm in the same dilemma as the OP - picked up a used 12ohm two10 and ordered the 4ohm conversion kit from Alex. Mine did come with full instructions, and they emailed them to me as well in PDF, so if you'd like them, let me know and I'll pass it on. Haven't done the conversion either, I've gigged and rehearsed it at 12ohms, and that was only with a TC BH250 head, and had no problems at all. Having spent on the kit, I kind of feel I should get it done, but it really works fine as it is....... -
I heard a lot of people raving about the Trickfish Bullhead .5k - 500 watt amp. I think it won one of the awards at the show.

Picked up one of these today! First impressions are great!

If that photo is not an Orange advert, it really should be. They are the only things in that picture apart from things made of stone / concrete that are still structurally together.

Upgrading my Fender Jazz 70's reissue. Advice welcome
LewisK1975 replied to Harlequin74's topic in Repairs and Technical
Yep - my USA 75ri had a J-retro fitted when I got it, but I'm not really into active Basses so I replaced it with a Kiogon loom and sold it on. No doubt it's a great piece of kit though, and really easy to fit. As said above, put it in before replacing the Pickups, it'll do all you need. -
As a few others have said, try and have a go on a Roadworn P. Yes, MIM, but oh so very good. S/H values are in your price range.

Have you tried posting this on the Attitude Facebook page? I think they're difficult to come by, but there's a good chance someone on there will have replaced a bridge at some point, and may have alternative suggestions...

Currently in my cover band, the singer and drummer (Spouses) own the van, PA, mics, cables, lights and Drums. Only thing taken from every gig is fuel money for the van, varying amount based on distance travelled. We then split the remainder equally. If replacements or repairs are necessary to the PA or the van, then we'll discuss how to pay for it. Usually ends up being that we won't take anything from the next gig or two and use that to pay for what's needed. We all use the PA and the van so it's OK with me that we all maintain it. If the repairs / replacements are 'emergency' status, i.e., can't do the next gig without them, then one or more of us will pay up front and get our money back from the next gig. If anyone leaves then there's no money owed to anyone. Nice and easy.
Do people actually buy signature basses/guitars because they like the artist?
Isn't that the idea?
Any old cloth? Here's the 'science bit': http://www.explainth...ibercloths.html
My bass gets a wipe over with a microfiber after every gig. I also use it wrapped around and up/down the length of each string a few times. Only ever use a bit of dunlop polish if I'm re-stringing. Otherwise all cleaning is done with a microfiber, marvellous things, I tell ye'!

STOLEN: Bryan Beller's bass collection
LewisK1975 replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
Yep - a great read, he definitely has a knack for telling a story! Hope he gets the Basses back..... -
Yep - He has a very light touch, which combined with heavy (55-110) Flatwounds, set with very low action is how he gets his signature 'clank'. It's why most guys trying to emulate him can't do it (or certainly can't do it for very long), they end up digging harder and tiring quickly, and they need to do the opposite. Of course it also depends on the individual setup etc, if your action's too high and you start tickling the strings, you ain't gonna clip the frets for the all-important clank! Also helps that he is able to put brand new flatwounds on for every gig...

Not a support band really as it was a co-headline - but I went to Limp Bizkit and Korn on Sunday in Cardiff Motorpoint. Seen LB a few times before and they've always been brilliant. LB were on first and their sound was absolutely shocking, Kick drum was huge and boomy, Barely audible guitar, no bass at all and the vocals were OK(ish). I also thought their setlist was very hit and miss, they had 70mins, and with that they ought to have been able to treat us to a string of belters, but instead we were treated to a sprinkling of the good stuff along with long interludes between songs and random DJ sections. Gutted ain't the word. Didn't even stay for Korn (wasn't planning to anyway but I was in a good mood before, so thought 'you never know').
Keep at it. Phantom is the one I've never gotten right. There's one bit about half way through which I simply can not do. I know the notes. I know the order. I know the speed. Can't get all 3 together though Comes in at 3:37 on this version https://www.youtube....h?v=n-K36JrFRdc
That's the bit that always gets me as well!
