My latest acquisition, the Roadworn Jazz, was kind of a xmas present, so, Yes I guess!
-

The full monty bass recording (YouTube: ''Brixton - Closer'')
LewisK1975 replied to Brixton's topic in Recording
Yep - It sits in that song really well, excellent stuff. I know Warwicks aren't for me, but you're right, in the right players hands, and in the right song, they sound great. -

Tc electronic / Spectracomp users - Help please
LewisK1975 replied to A.G.E.N.T.E.'s topic in Effects
I've got 2 of them - one bought 'B' stock from Thomann same as you. One bought s/h on here. Both have the same knob resistance. I agree there's not a huge amount of resistance when turning the knob, but as it's only a single knob on there it's easy to remember where it should be set, so I don't worry too much about it staying put in transit (it does move when it's in the pedaltrain soft case). As others have said, if you're not happy, you should return. -
Don't do it! Bloody awful things... Took 4 EBs for me to realise it
You could be right.......Still, I've got too many Jazz Basses at the moment and one's going to have to go at some point. Would I consider a trade offer for a nice Ray, probably Ha!

Needs a good setup too, seen the string action?
-
Yep - Stingrays for me. Up til the last couple of years, I'd primarily played with a pick, and they never seemed to really work for me. Tried 3 of them. Now I play almost exclusively with fingers, and really think I should give them another go...

I'm not a Fuzz fan really, but I couldn't help notice how the EBS Fuzzmo pedal has been dramatically reduced in price in a few places... https://www.amazon.co.uk/EBS-FuzzMo-High-Distortion-Pedal/dp/B00GMY1RR8

Hey Steve, welcome from another South Wales inhabitant... Like Funkshui says above, stay away from the marketplace on here if you want to stay sane!
Sold Lewis my Fender Road Worn Jazz bass and the whole transaction was carried out smoothly and in a timely manner. Communication was prompt and respectful throughout. Cannot recommend Lewis highly enough. Enjoy the bass my friend and I hope to deal with you again in the future.
Cheers Dave! The pleasure was all mine!

My alignment OCD only kicks in if the strings aren't equidistant and centered on the neck. Pole piece alignment doesn't bother me unless it adversely affects the individual string volumes...YMMV!

Pedaltrain 1(old model). Where to find a soft case?
LewisK1975 replied to eddiehoffmann's topic in Effects
They do show up on Ebay periodically. Pedaltrain don't sell the cases (hard or soft) separately so you won't find them in any shops.. -
I've been using the TC spectracomp for some time now. Only use it on the standard 'out of the box' setting and I'm finding it really very good indeed. Anything up to midday gives you mild compression with some fattening of the sound and going past midday gets you more into the 'limiting' side of things. Of course it's all pretty subjective, as every compressor will react differently depending on the player. But certainly, the toneprint editor for the TC means you can pretty much alter ANY parameter, so technically, you should be able to get something out of it that suits you..

I'd say Yes, this is on their FAQ's: Can I use my Markbass amp in countries with different voltages? No! Your amp/combo was manufactured to be sold and used in the country of purchase, and is factory preset to that country's voltage. If you use it in a country with a different voltage without using a power converter, it will not work and may be seriously damaged. So the voltage would be the same, maybe ask MarkBass themselves via email? I don't know what their response time is like, mind you.
Played mine last nigth and I'm getting a bit of choking/dead spot on the G fret 4. Going to tweek the setup and change the strings this weekend
How did you get on?
Have supported name touring acts a few times & have had a proper sound check with full monitors & reasonable room on stage on some occasions & a last minute line check with no room (not allowed to move anything) no monitors at all on others depends who you are supporting. Soundpeople have always done their best under the circumstances & we were always professional & got on with it despite the difficulties imposed. No moaning or the soundpeople lose sympathy very quickly. Some headliners were unaware there a support band & others were very friendly & approachable. Every gig was different & we always did our best to put on a show. But yes, welcome to the music industry, you know exactly what rung of the ladder you are on!
Here speaks the voice of experience, gents. This should be the last post on this thread, it contains everything you need to know. But it's not, because this post is.

Use a lighter touch and let the amp do the work. Even the more 'beastly' bassists you could think of play with a lighter touch than you might imagine.
..........When I know a gig has supplied backline the 'artiste' part of me will whinge about not having 'my sound' or whatever but the rest of me is really, really happy for the 5 minute tear down!
Haven't done a shared backline for many years, but as I read this, I chuckled, remembering how I used to just unplug my bass, put it in its case and go back into the crowd. Lovely.
