1. In Plymouth - Been modded / upgraded (delete as you see fit), but still a bargain for someone I reckon!: http://www.ebay.co.u...z0AAOSwRQlXejex
  2.
fret board could do with a really good clean, would have thought they would have at least done that for that much money and that scratch plate is awful
Couldn't help but think the same about the bridge......
  3.
It`s also got 3-bolt neck, thought that went out before 77 - certainly had on my 77 Precision.
I think the 3-bolt neck actually came in on the Jazz Bass around '75 and lasted til around '79. Not sure the precision ever had a 3-bolt neck... Looking closer again, I actually think the truss rod has split the fingerboard on it at some point at the first fret and that's why the first marker got changed. I think that would explain the lower price actually.
  4. Also looking again, it looks like the first fret block marker is different to the others, truss rod worked been worked on by popping the block out?
  5. Noticed this today: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_Jazz_1977_Natural.html Price seems low at £1299? Aren't prices for these normally around £1800+, or even more from a shop? I know it's had the plate changed to stak knobs, and doesn't have the original case (not many do!), but I wouldn't expect that to devalue it by £500? Or am I missing something? BTW I'm not bringing this up because I'm thinking of buying, just seemed strange to me!!
  6. I'm no expert, but I'd say it's a nice job on the relic (a lot of work has obviously gone into it), although I do think the BIN is high. The 'make offer' button is available though, if I wanted it I'd be starting offerings at about £300 for it.
  7.
That's a Laser Electric Heritage, Matsumoku build. Nice bass and easily a bargain. Welcome to the world of Vintage MIJ! Jon.
I had one of those back in the 90's. Loved it and it was solid as a rock. Can't remember what took it's place, maybe a Fenix Jazz?
  8. Think I'll bookmark this thread for reading every time I get a GAS attack. Some of these stories serve as good warning of what can happen when GAS gets bad!
  9. Loved that Army green colour on one of the guitars they showed there....
  10. Caught the highlights on Sky Arts this weekend - mixes sounded fine on that, but I expect a lot of post-production has gone into it...... Really enjoyed Halestorm - they've been around a long time but I'd never heard them before, that girl got some pipes! Jane's addiction's Chris Chaney's sound was spot on too.
  11. I see hipshot have brought out a BA2 lookalike bridge - form an orderly queue! http://store.hipshotproducts.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=426 Must've been a short meeting to come up with that name too!

    Boss TU-3S

I would imagine they'll be knocking them out for less than a standard TU-3 if they don't sell as well as they hope. I was thinking about getting a polytune clip to shrink the pedalboard, but I really like the mute that a 'normal' tuner pedals give you, and you're right that there are now plenty of good quality smaller footprint ones around.

    Boss TU-3S
But the TU-3 would work in these circumstances, as would all the other through tuners on the market by boss, Korg etc. I don't get what gap this is filling?
I guess they thought some folks would like the idea of TU-3 reliability, but with a smaller footprint and always on. But I concur, I can't see why.
  14. I use an ABM1000 (evo3 preamp with a 1k class-d amp) with 1 or 2 super compacts at the moment. So very very good.
  15. It's a 4 string - I could be wrong on the width - but the Attitude does have a famously wide neck...
  16. Any of you fine people ever done a nut replacement on a Yamaha Attitude ltd 2?, if so where did you get the replacement nut? I'm struggling to find one! I think the nut width is 1.75in / 44mm..
  17. What a fantastic looking Bass. Top job!
  18.
Fair enough then, like the keyboard player with Iron Maiden. Its a shame but if thats what he wants.
Mike Kenney, who's also Steve Harris's bass tech, used to play the keyboards for live Maiden shows, dunno if he stil does? Back on topic, I thought Muse were effin brilliant on Friday night. Watched on telly, sound through my Denon system, excellent! Chris really is a monster player, and his signal chain and use of effects really is something special..
  19.
The output is not usually powerful enough - but crucially, by using a mixer, you can blend the two signals and mix your bass independent of the monitor engineer. "More me"
See - missed something.
  20.
The DI on the MB2 allows for pre-eq out. The jack output allows for the EQed signal out. What I would do is use the DI to send to FOH and plug the output of the MB2 to a mini mixer and also plug in the return from the foh/monitor desk into your little mixer which you use to power your headphones.
Why not just use the headphone socket on the MB2 to power your headphones? Or have I missed something (always possible!)?
  21.
The vintage grill takes care of that!

I can't see them...☺
Haha OK - what about the folks (like me) with black steel grilles? Edit: Nice setup that doomed.
  22.
.......although the Geddy looked really smart with the rosewood fingerboard
Sacrilege!!
  23.
It's landed. I now need to book a rehearsal room for two hours to break it in... Just me, my gear and some ear plugs.
Just to be super fussy, does anyone else wish they'd use black screws/bolts to hold the speakers in?
  24. Funny how peoples experience can be so different, I've done a few deals there, buying outright, PX'ing, warranty repairs, never had any issues with Mark or Marcus. Both of them know their stuff and will give you good honest advice. I've never been in there and told I was wrong for wanting something. I also find them excellent at email communication, they always reply really quickly with any queries I've had..
Some very opposing recollections on here. I think if I got asked why I wanted a 4 as well as a 5 string, well, I'd say it was my choice. IME there is a difference in the E tone on a 4 and 5 string, and a HUGE feel difference.
And I bet if you told Mark that, he'd be fine with it. Whilst I agree that they dont suck up to you just becasue you may spend some money there, I don't mind that at all, I find the whole smarmy sales technique more off-putting if anything..I'm happy to have my ideas challenged, it's healthy! And you never know, you might learn something new!
