1. Cool thanks gents, gives me some hope that someone out there will be looking for one of these!
2. More pics taken by myself today:
3. More Pics as promised:
4.
Is that the Sandberg who's praises you were singing?
That's the one! - No doubt the Sandberg is a great Bass, but just for a laugh I only took a P Bass to my gigs last weekend, and had no trouble at all! So I thought, you know what, lets get a really nice Jazz and that'll be fine! Therefore my Sandberg VM5 and Musicman SUB 5 are now up for sale, in the for sale section! Will it ever end? I hope not!!!!
5. OK so my 5 string clear-out continues...... Here's a really nice example of the fabled USA made SUB Basses. Most of you probably already know the story of these but for those who don't: These were made in the same factory as the standard USA Stingrays for a few years in the mid 00's. Slab bodies, cheaper finishes and hardware meant they could sell them for less than a standard Stingray. Rumour was Musicman stopped making them because sales of the standard Stingray were suffering due to these being so good and significantly cheaper... Only mark is a small paint chip on the back of the neck, which I'll get a pic of later on tonight. I'll also add some better general pics of it too. I've only gigged it once (it was a backup to my Sandberg) and the guy I bought it off only used it for recording occasionally. Bass is in the Bridgend area of South Wales, but I can travel for the right deal or could courier at cost. I don't have a hard case for it but could supply a non-musicman gig bag if needed. Any trial is welcome, any questions about the Bass please ask! Cheers!
6. Yep - Tecamp withdrawn from sale - tried it last night just straight into the amp without putting through the pedal board at all - Glorious! If only I wasn't a compression / overdrive junkie.........
7.
Gorgeous bass, congrats Lew!

Despite what I grew up hearing about CBS Fenders the 70s was truly a glorious era for beautiful jazz basses. Lovely example you've got there.
Thanks Gents - I'm really happy with it - Now for the 5-string clearout! Turns out I don't need the B string after all......
8. Ha - destiny indeed! Unfortunately I haven't got an interface for recording onto PC, thought about getting one a few times, never got round to it! The main difference to something more modern would obviously just be the neck shape - 7.25" radius and more U shaped than C shaped. Also the micro-tilt is a great idea, not sure why they stopped doing that.. I would also say the pickups are lower output than more modern Fenders, but hey that's what the gain knob on the amp is for...
9. Here's my 1975 Jazz - Just acquired by myself - Previously owned by Basschat owner Steve Miles.
10. [s]£1150 o.n.o[/s] [s]£1050 ono[/s] £995 For Sale is my Sandberg VM-5 HCA bought from Bass Direct in May last year. It's in 'hardcore aged' metallic red with a rosewood fingerboard and matching headstock. Turns out I don't really need 5 strings and having recently bought a YOB Jazz bass I need to recoup some funds! I have everything that was supplied with the Bass when bought (Sandberg gig bag, allen keys and tags) Bass is located in Bridgend area of South Wales, ideally would be collection but I can meet up within a certain distance, no problem. Could also courier at cost. Any trial is welcome. Pictures added are from the Bass Direct website but are of the actual Bass..specs below, any questions about the Bass please ask! Sale would be ideal, but feel free to try me with trade offers of 4 string Basses, you never know.. This bass has been "hard core aged" which is a process that gives the bass a vintage look and is manually worked on in a time consuming process to achieve a unique look to each bass. With body that is made from Alder. A 6-bolted Maple neck with 22 High quality frets and a zero fret underneath the nut. The PM5 features one Delano P-Bass Pickup at the neck and one Delano Powerhumbucker at the bridge giving you an amazing amount of tone options. The Hardware is of a high quality and is designed by Sandberg, the bass comes with High Quality Sandberg gigbag. 11. I worried about this for a very long time - bought the Voodoo labs Pedal power 2+ in the end and now I don't think about it any more. It's expensive but it gives me peace of mind.
12. One quirk of the ME50-B which I liked when I had it was - If you setup a patch which had both the +1 octave setting active and the 'hi-band drive' active, it only distorted the octave up signal, leaving your normal bass sound unaffected. Good that.
13. Micro POG - great octave up and can be routed separately too if you need it to be...
14.
I bought the original Billy Sheehan EBS pedal. It is a nice bit of kit but I really didn't take to the voicing of the drive and felt that even with the blending option the drive resulted in a bit of low end loss. This isn't me having a go at either Billy Sheehan or EBS, as obviously the pedal was designed with meeting Billy's approval not mine! I think that the 'phase invert' switch on the new model is probably a reaction to my issues though.
I read a few posts and exchanged a few messages with other users who had commented that the with the pedal on, the clean and distortion channels are actually out of phase with each other and this was the cause for the low end loss being felt. As some of you will know Billy uses a stereo rig setup with all of his low end coming from a separate neck pickup on his bass routed to one amp, and the high end coming from the split P-Pickup, routed to a different amp. He wouldn't notice any low end loss because there's no low end on the signal which is routed through the sig pedals in his rig.... FWIW I agree that EBS probably knew this (I'm not having a go at EBS or BS either, like you said, it was designed with BS and his setup specifically in mind) and this phase 'invert' switch is actually putting the clean and dirty channels back in phase with each other. The same result can also be achieved by putting another pedal which flips the phase into the distortion loop ( I used a £20 EHX LPB-1).
15. Yep I'd thought about the RW Jazz when I was looking for a Jazz recently - trouble is I have a penchant for maple fingerboards - now if Fender did a RW 70's Jazz with a maple fingerboard, block inlays and binding to match, colour me interested!
16. I agree with you 100% Marc - I've got the same model as you (albeit with the unmmodified neck) and it is definitely the best Precision I've ever had. And I've had a few......I'm only in Bridgend if you ever want to A/B yours..
17. So I've been fancying a 70's Jazz for a while. Toyed with the idea of getting a new re-issue / USA Geddy Lee. Then was browsing my usual sites (bass direct, bass gear, wunjo, andy baxter, bass gallery) and came across a YOB Jazz on the Bass Gallery website. They also had a '77 in exactly the same colour / neck combo so I decided to go and have a look at them. Spent a while A/B'ing the 75 and 77 and preferred the 75, the neck just felt a little deeper in my hand (more 'U' shaped maybe) than the 77 and it's certainly what I'd been looking for looks and sound-wise. Talked it over with John and subsequently found out that the 2 Basses I'd been trying were commission sales, both owned by a certain Steve Miles (owner of Basschat.co.uk). So - I'd found a YOB Jazz in my favoured colour / neck combo, which had already had a Badass II added (probably would have done that myself anyway) and got myself a few bits thrown into the deal - seemed a bit of a no-brainer to me really.. So I drove it home in its rather nice (albeit non-original) case. Spent some time on it, gave it a spruce up and re-string, setup to my taste (action was really low, I like to dig in a bit so needed a tweak) and she's ready to go! 18.
Thanks very much for that - I did consider similar, but I want to keep boxes and leads down to an absolute minimum... just having one extra jack lead kind of appeals... having said that, just one combo and one cable would be the ultimate. I ask only out of curiosity, it's very unlikely I'll ever need to actually run two combos in the real world.
Yeah I understand - I'd love to run a stereo rig with one amp doing lows and one amp doing high frequencies, but I think my bandmates would laugh their heads off if I showed up to a gig at the Dog & Duck with a 2 amp setup.....they just don't understand
19. My OCD just went into orbit for the overhang. Great looking gear mind you..
20. Or maybe an ABY box, something like this, will do exactly what you want to do, and they don't cost a lot.. :-
21. Personally I'd say it depends on your own circumstances - If your band has full FOH and you only need an amp for on-stage monitoring, small lightweight stuff is the way forward. Certainly too there's plenty of small lightweight options around nowadays which can more than handle their own for Pub / club size venues. Just getting my opinion in before this turns into another class D vs SS vs Valve thread and people start saying 'heft' a lot.
22. I was looking at these back last year - hit the same problem as you, no-one has one! Not much online review-wise either.....Ended up buying a Tecamp PUMA 500.
23. Withdrawn for now - need to shift some Basses instead after a rather heavy investment on the weekend.....
