1.
Everyone knows that regardless of the gig, you need 2 Ampeg 8x10 stacks.
LOL I agree but the Ampeg colour scheme clashes with my flairs!! I have a Hotone thunder bass (5w) micro amp & an Eden 12inch at home it seems loud (as loud as the so called 500w class D I recently tried!!). Anyone used a 1 to 10 watt amp through a bass cab in an acoustic setting? B
 2. It looks a Peach! B
 3. If you could convert the SPL of an average acoustic guitar into watts how may approx would it be. More specifically if you want to duet with an acoustic with bass what is the fewest watts you can get away with? Brendan
 4. Does this all mean I can safely run a 12inch wizzy (no tweeter) cab with my Hotone Thunder Bass 5 watt without fear of damage? It sounds great and is pleanty loud enough for home, but been worried "what if it clips" Brendan
 5. In that case I must have got a faulty one, it was audiable when playing at above normal home volume (the master was above 12 o'clock, gain about 10). I need to visit a store that has stock and test my next amp. So may still be a MiBass eventually. I am glad for you guys you are happy with yours. I would like my next amp to be an Ashdown. B
 6. I can only assume you all like to "flap your flares" either that or I'm hypersensitive (probably the latter, probably at bit of both) LOL.
 7.
So the questions are: 1. Are you getting a replacement or just giving up on the MiBass? On a more technical note, 2. Why fit fan when the power amp is designed to be used without one? 3. Is the fan on all the time or or temperature controlled?
1. Giving up on it I don't think that one had a fault TADTS ("the sales guy said have you had someone else listern"!!) It's me who is using the thing see 3. 2. Welcome to my problem, no one seems to make a small 100 to 300w amp without these fans 3. Yes the fan is on all the time -- When I play an harmonic then damp I want silence!! I got my first Bass amp in 1976 (Carlsbro Cobra) and have only found this can't get an amp without a fan sucking air all the time thing in the last few years! Progress!!!! B
 8. I am returning the Amp the fan is way too noisy for me (louder then my MK500!!!), can hear it all the time I am playing! I will keep the 10inch cab though B
 9.
Originally the Mi10s were 4 Ohm, but I don't think they sold that many of them in that guise, most people looking for a light modular setup would've liked two 8 Ohm versions, so I guess they listened customer suggestions, including my own, and changed the spec. I think they only make 8 Ohm ones now, there may be some 4 Ohm ones still in shops, but they're not making them anymore. Eude
Thanks Eude I have ordered a MiBass 1x10 rig from Andertons (the warranty and Ashdown customer service helped swing it!). I plan to see how I get on with the 1x10 & add either another 10 or a 12 later. So Bonzodog or anyone else if you try the 12 & 10 together can you report. Thanks all B
 10.
I've got a little MiBass 2.0 and from what I can tell it's a pretty transparent sound, quite hifi sounding, but you can dial in grit if you want. There's amps out there with more powerful EQ etc, but it ticks all the boxes I need and from what you say, it'll do the same for you. I haven't tried mine live I'm afraid, but I think it'll keep up assuming you use a 4 ohm load to get the full juice out of it. From all the Class D's out there, not many come with a 5 year warranty and very response customer service, I'd go for it if I was you mate Eude
Hi Eude -- Your sig says you use 2 10inch MiBass cabs, but on the Ashdown website they are listed as 4ohm each! are they really 8ohm? Thanks Brendan
 11. Does anyone have or has used a Markbass Little Mark 250 Black Line ? Could you tell me if the cooling fan is on all the time or if it is switched? As I keep asking this for different amps is there a light weight cheap amp that doesn't have fan noise all the time & is good for "intimate" settings? Thanks Brendan
 12. Thanks barkin -- next plan B then B
 13. Does anyone have or has used a Hartke 2500? Could you tell me if the cooling fan is on all the time or if it is switched? Thanks Brendan

 15. Has anyone tried or got the new Marshall DSL 5c combo yet. Are they OK? does the emulated out and low watt setting work OK?? Brendan
 16.
If you find it hard to picture then may i suggest that you read a little on the history of Motown and what was happening in Detroit at that time. Many white musicians, arrangers, writers and performers were at Motown in the 60s. There are a couple of good books and a DVD that give a good idea of what was happening in Detroit both musically and politically in the 60s. By 1967 and the time of the riots there were singers like Chris Clark, singer, producer and writer R Dean Taylor, session players Bob Babbitt and Dennis Coffey and the songwriting team Lori Burton and Pamela Sawyer (from Romford, Essex) just to name a few at Motown. Also the Detroit Symphony Orchestra played on numerous recordings and even released two LPs under the name of the Same Remo Golden Strings with the Funk Brothers.
As always Music & Musicians show Multi-Culturalism & Love for fellow mankind! But Carol Kaye admits She has never been to Detroit!!! B
 17. This is part of the modern retail experience & buying “on-line”! — It is hard enough to try a good range of regular basses never mind 6 strings. I am luck that I have a pair of Status 6 strings that really suit me. Of the sixers I have managed to try in the Manchester shops the Ibanez (not sure if it is the same model as you) was good & I really liked the Far East made Spector 6. I have never seen a Yamaha 6 never mind tried one (but would like to) & the MTD Kingston look good (need to try and get down to Bass direct to try). But you have to travel to the other end of the country to try stuff or take the risk to order something on line & not get on with it (in theory though you can send stuff back that doesn’t suit you — but that’s a PITA) Brendan
 18. Yasmine Hamdan was great B
 19.
How on earth did this post veer so far off course its now in off topic? (Or at least it should be)
Big Plus 1
 20.
Guy Pratt is a member here...ask him..??
Guy do you string one Statii with flats & one with roundwounds? Loverly playing BTW Brendan
 21.
I mentioned him last night ;-)
Woops so you did -- Sorry Dave -- If you havn't checked out his Strange Sensation album you may like that
 22. I can not believe that no one has mentioned how good old Percy Plant & his band were fantastic IMHO Guy Pratt (and Brian) were great too -- does anyone know does he string one Statii with flats & one with roundwounds? Brendan
 23.
When I saw From The Jam earlier this year, Bruce Foxton was using his Ashdown stack (410 + 810) and it sounded amazing. I need light gear so my Markbass set-up is ideal, but if I were looking for a set-up now, after hearing Bruce I`d be checking Ashdown gear out - and if it were light enough, no doubt buying it as well.

Were you on the stage? If not did they have an ashdown pa?
Actually I did stand right in front of Bruce's stack (could hardly hear vocal/guitar, drums) & it sounded fantastic. Lozz is was actually a 4x10 & a 2x15 -- but yeah the amp looked like it weighed a ton!!! Brendan

 25.
Obviously there will be full accountability for all this money that people are going to give them, and no risk whatsoever that it will be squandered in any way. If this was a legitimate project likely to generate any serious media interest, then surely Fox would already have selected The Hunt For A Stolen Stock Fender Precision as one of their Cold Case Files series? This has got 'scam' written all over it. Or possibly carved into the neck with a pen-knife.
+1 to what "Jack" said B
