This is so sad. I lived & played, in many bands there in the late 80s through the 90s. All the places You mention had many venues & pubs with music! At least 5 or 6 in Ludlow (Bull, George, Assembly rooms, etc. & 4 or so in "The Castle" (Grapes, Castle Hotel, 3 Tuns, Vaults, etc. And places around like Knighton, Clun, Leominster, Hereford all had pubs & clubs with gigs. And Olivers in Shrewsbury had Bands most nights! 😢 Real Sad. B

This + 1 & that is where the "Mega Bucks" come in. New means brand new sparkling need to change them very regularly, Mark (sponsored string deal) used to swap basses (with new strings) mid-gig because the sound had gone off !!! From bitter experience it is a very expensive sound to chase! Any of the lighter gauges will do (40 to 100 last a little longer but not much!!!) B

Can only remember He played Fender Jazz basses. Never saw a 5 string back then. He also has a Bass & Vocal duo called "Then There Were Two". I tried to use this concept with the singer from one of our old bands, but She wasn't open minded enough & the few gigs we did She mainly had me bashing out chords on an Acoustic guitar (not very fulfilling!!) So it didn't go anywhere. Think there's an interview with him on Bass Magazine online? He might mention effects there? B

Don't think so if You look at the B&W photo it's got the regular "Series" rounded tail the GA's are very pointed. But I have only seen GA's in that colour before 🙂
