  1. I've got a '99 NS2000 (Korean) and she's coming to the grave with me. Nuff said! 😁 She's a bit of a case queen these days as I want to keep her a close to mint as possible, but on the occasions when I do get her out, I fall in love all over again. Tone monster!
  2. Not sure if this is wrong, but I can't recall ever seeing a sunburst Fender or Squier where the burst isn't continued on the rear. I've done a quick search for the serial number and it's correct, I'm just not sure if it's a replacement body..? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F392408606474
  3. It's personal preference, this guy is setting up to an average height, some want higher, some what lower
  4. They are a German bass, designed and built in Germany by Germans using German wood. The manufacturing of some components (Eg bridge or wire etc) may be done elsewhere.
  5. @wishface it's very difficult for anyone here to be able to offer a definative answer to your question (although they're a helpful bunch so will try their best) as it there are a number of variables which need to be ruled out before knowing for certain exactly what the "problem" is. Example - Is the neck relief correct, is the bridge set correctly, is the nut correct? If yes then, does the neck have a twist or bow, are the frets worn, are they bedded in correctly, does the neck require a shim etc etc. All of those things really need to be understood before the issue can be diagnosed and the correct solution offered. And without having the bass in hand and only a text discription of the problem (especially by someone who is inexperienced) makes solutionising almost impossible. I totally accept you're unable to pay to get a tech to look at your bass, but hoping to get an answer on a forum without being able to rule out any of the factors which cause fret buzz is a bit wishful (no pun intended) thinking. My advice would be to forget what you think the problem is, start again from scratch and look at the youtube set-up tutorial below (there are plenty of others on the if you don't like these). This is video 1 of 4, go through them in order following the instructions precisely - Once done, you'll then know you've eliminated poor set-up as a cause and have an actual fault which needs fixing. If that's the case, search for tutorials specific to that issue and work through it. Hope this helps.
  6. This is a cool idea. When I was in an originals band, I'd often work basslines around the vocal arrangements, never tried to follow the vocals though. Nice one. +1 on Anita too 👊🏻
  7. Aye. The Sire I had was excellent but, I truthfully wouldn't say it was a £1k equivalent though. I also had a Maruszczyk jazz at the same time and that beat the Sire hands down in all departments (except maybe finish). I also found the controls on the Sire too fiddly for my fat sausage fingers. Great basses though and definitely worth a look.
  8. Sorry, a bit late to the party but, if you're not looking for leather, I'd highly recommend a Neotech Mega Strap. Very comfortable & lightweight.
  9. I'm saying you'd need to spend between £100-200 for a decent used bass, £150-250 for a decent new bass. I've never played a Harley Benton so, whilst I'm sure they're absolutely fine, I'm not in a position to personally recommend one. The other issue is, if you want anything other than a HB P bass, even a HB Jazz costs £150 (at least from Thomann including delivery), so really it's just a matter of lack of choice at that price point. Re. Used basses, I'm a huge fan of used gear and have only ever bought 1 bass new (a TT4 which was on sale with an extra 20% off) but, for less than £100, I don't think you're going to get anything other than an already "bottom of the range" bass (less than £150 new) or a beater which, as I mentioned above, unless you know what you're looking for, could come with a host of problems unless you're lucky. Completely agree.
  10. That's perfect, thank you! Tbh, I'm only playing my Sandbergs atm (all my other basses are in storage in prep for a house move), but I do like a mex Fender (I've got a Jazz & a strat) and at that price it looks a good deal. Been fancying something to put flats on too...
  11. I agree, I think sub £100 you're either buying an already budget bass not worth much more than that new (but without warranty), a higher value bass with possible problems or you're getting a bargain. For it to be option 3 you need to know what you're looking at and what to avoid, not something a first time buyer can be expected to know.
  12. One of these has just popped up on ebay with a very tempting starting price, just wondering what your thoughts are on the general quality etc of this era (07/08) Mexican P's? Anything to look out for or avoid? Cheers https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273981042123
  13. Standing in the Shadows of Motown https://g.co/kgs/CRPpsW All about the Funk Brothers, the band who played on a shed load of Motown songs.
  14. Not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to understand what you are basing this comment on - "the average beginner or parent don't want to spend more than £100 on a bass" 🤷🏻‍♂️
  15. On further consideration, I'd also query the validity of this statement. Using eBay as a barometer (a predominantly used marketplace so should be weighted to used instruments) and by applying the following filters (category - bass guitar, buying format - buy-it-now ((to exclude more expensive gear with a low start price)), price range - under £100, located - UK only) the results are - Used - 112 Opened, never used - 26 Refurbished - 3 Total all used - 141 New - 175
  16. I don't disagree, but I'm asking what you are basing your assertion that "the average beginner or parent don't want to spend more than £100 on a bass" on? Given the entry level market starts at £150, for your assessment of the market to be true, dealers would rarely sell any basses to new players.
  17. What are you basing that on? I've just done a quick search in GAK, and their cheapest bass starts are £145. Using your logic, that would suggest GAK are completely ignoring the starter market and going straight to 2nd instrument buyers. I don't think that's the case. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/4-string-bass-guitars
