  1. Very cool 😎 Whenever I see a burst firebird, I always think of Dennis Coffey (Funk Brothers) and how surprised I was when I watched Standing in the Shadows of Motown and saw that he played one. Upped the cool factor to 10 for me 😉
  2. @Dov65 just FYI, I've given you a bum steer with the colour wheel. Complementary colours are next to each other, clashing colours are opposite each other 🤦🏻‍♂️ I do stand by the rest of what I said though about getting to b&q and getting some swatches.
  3. Get yourself a couple of pairs of long nose pliers, whip the back cover off, hold the jack nut in place inside the guitar whilst tightening the outer nut.

  7. Aye, hense the 😉 What I didn't realise until after I made the comment (which piqued my own interest) , was quite how prolific they were. I knew they wrote for other people, but a catalogue of over 1000 songs is unbelievable, which is why I edited the comment with the link. I guess that suggests that, even if someone hates the bee gees, I bet they like a song they've written.

  9. I imagine it's to stop people insulting each other and prevent arguments escalating. Unfortunately, the the Internet isn't the best place for people to act with the same maturity or decorum they would in real life.
  10. Musical taste is developed in our youth, so what we like as teens tends to stay into adulthood.

Obviously colour choice is highly subjective so I won't make any recommendations on that, but to help choose a colour, assuming that you're not changing the neck, I'd personally look for something which is complementary to yellow of the fretboard & headstock. A good place to start is to look at a colour wheel and see what's opposite yellow (which are blues and maybe violets). Then, get yourself to a paint store (like b&q) and pick up different samples of your chosen colour and see what works best with the neck. Keep in mind that colour changes dependant on the light, so that needs to be kept in mind when you're doing the matching.

  13. I've got a mini 3 way switch on a PJ (between the tone & input) which does bridge/both/neck. It's very discrete and works great, although obvo I've got tone control too

  17. That looks very cool. Do the stacked knobs thing. I did it on my 60s reissue (thanks to @KiOgon) and its taken it to a different level.
  18. Well, that's a really tricky question because, ultimately, it's all about what you're hoping to get out of it. So, the more musical theory you know, (potentially) the better your composition will be, along with free style playing, transcribing existing music etc. But, there's no magic bullet, one size fits all solution, it's a personal journey. I think the more you understand the music you want to play, the more you'll recognise the theory which suits your needs. Sorry I can't be more help, but all I can suggest is, try out a new scale then play around with it. Stick on a drum beat and play around with the notes, just grooving over the drums. If it doesn't work for your jam, bin it and try something else. If it does, focus on different roots or mixing with different scales. The thing is, no matter what you learn, any proactive playing is a forward step and will improve you as a bassist.

  20. In that case, I think you've answered your own question so defo go for it. Is there a best way? Well, everyone learns differently so it's hard to say definitively. Probably the most efficient way is to get lessons from a pro (either in person or Skype type lessons), they'll be able to assess your current ability and plan out the best route to your goals.
