Stockholm bass guitar shop?
DoubleOhStephan replied to Jimelliottbassist's topic in General Discussion
Reread question π -
Theres no umlaut on the bass in these pics either..?

Most unconvincing "roadworn" ever?
DoubleOhStephan replied to thebrig's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
They don't half pick some weird places to wear. How on earth would a bass wear under the strings behind the pickups (sunburst above) or around the bridge (green)..? Surely, if you're gonna do it, look at pictures of actual rw basses and replicate that. -

Just an FYI on that site, if you click on a genre, it'll take you a Spotify play list with representative music ππ» -

Well look at that, a very subtle but definitive mute! Thanks @arthurhenry, I'll work on that, another string to the bow ππ»

I don't like white basses. I don't like white basses. I don't like white basses.... π¬ That's a stunner fair play, it's taking all my will power not to start googling white Sandys to see what's on the market!

Zep vs Minaj... π€ -
Not quite sure what you mean. Always up for learning a new technique though, but when I just tried I wasn't muting, just playing a note..? Can you do a demo or post a pic? Cheers

Very true. Thinking about it, they also invented daw software which has enabled lots of musicians to record music to a high standard in their bedrooms. So, in a way, nerds have saved music!! π -

Hmmm... If you're going down that route then Napster is probably more responsible as created peer to peer sharing. Or you could blame MP3s for being a format which enables peer to peer sharing. Or, is it the Internet for providing the facility to do peer to peer sharing..? Looks like it was the nerds what done it! π -

From the Spotify list? If you click on the name it will give you a selection of tracks to listen to. -
If you've got all evening, you may come up with something using a random name generator... https://www.google.com/search?q=band+name+generator&oq=band+name&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0j69i60l2j0l2.3082j0j7&client=ms-android-huawei-rev1&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 Good luck! π

Now you've mentioned Spotify, according to the Every Noise at Once website (which is an algorithmically-generated, readability-adjusted scatter-plot of the musical genre-space, based on data tracked and analyzed for 3,068 ((!!!)) genres by Spotify), "Rock" is the 5th most popular, with various subtypes appearing further on down in the list. Given this list is generated by data from 100 Million Spotify users (so a pretty large sample size of music listeners), I reckon it gives a more accurate representation of Rocks popularity. As an aside, Grime comes in 203rd place with Drill in a 412th. Stick that in your pipe Bobby π http://everynoise.com/everynoise1d.cgi?scope=all -
You know, its funny you say that. I was watching an old John Lee Hooker performance the other day, and his bassist was wearing his bass very upright (like a double bass). It looked a bit weird but I'm sure it was a more natural position for his fretting hand. I seem to think that the original electric bass was supposed to be worn like that, hense the position of the tug bar being placed so you pluck with your thumb (could've just made that up though) π¬

Ahh fair play, I didn't realise that. I just assumed these were your first & second vlogs. Apologies

Hey Scott The first thing I'd like to say is, good on you for following through with your idea. I think you genuinely want honest feedback and I'm a huge advocate for giving and receiving feedback as one the best ways to improve at anything. I've treated your videos the same as I would any new YouTube content and hope my comments are taken in the spirit that they're intended. I tried to watch both your videos/vlogs, but the first one... sorry, I only managed about 5 minutes or so. I just felt the first 2 minutes of you sat in the car in the rain, then getting your bike off the car to then being sat on a wall were all a bit pointless and felt like filler. I started clockwatching and getting impatient after about a minute, so by the time you'd starting talking about your wife at around 5 minutes in, I'm afraid to say I lost interest and bailed. Onto the 2nd video. I was feeling a bit guilty about bailing on the first one, so was determined to see this one through to the end, which I did. I feel like the first 20 minutes could have been condensed into just a couple of minutes. It took the best part of the video to get to the point, and unfortunately, once you'd got there it was a bit underwhelming. The biggest thing I felt that was missing was bass related content. If I watch a YouTube channel with Bass in the title, the expectation is that's what I'm going to hear about, especially when the content provider is a bona-fide gigging bassist who builds his own basses(!!!). I mean, you've got stuff to say that I'm gonna be interested in! But, 25 minutes of a bloke saying, I've done a video, you should too, was just disappointing unfortunately, simply because my expectation was so high. I dont mind long format, if I'm doing a long drive or something I actively seek them out. I'll often watch/listen to 1,2 & 3 hours podcasts or vlogs. It just needs to be engaging right off the bat (I'd personally dispense with the intro bits, walking around town or whatever) and cover subjects you know deeply. With all the respect in the world, this is your 2nd vlog and its all about how more people should do vlogs..? The other thing I'd say is, make it so it translates as a podcast. The beauty of them is, you can listen when you're doing something else. A dedicated vlog requires the audience to focus all their attention on it. Having both formats gives the audience options and will also make sure you focus the content to keep it tight and constantly moving (no sipping from mugs or arty establishing shots). All the best with it and good luck! ππ»

Right, cos typing "I'm interested" isn't particularly difficult, do we really need that done for us. Its probably an American sales thing,L. You've got a red hot lead, they must be interested to have been looking in the first place. There's no such thing as accidents, close that sale etc... ππ
