Well, it's definitely a limited edition bass (one of 500 made) so I'm sure that there are those who've bought one to keep as an investment. As those will have been kept in pristine condition, any basses with signs of play won't be as (potentially) valuable in the future in comparison.
So, if the one you've got your eye on has any marks etc already, I wouldn't worry at all about keeping it as a case queen.
