1. Bumpity. Has anything changed, or are the promoters at this venue still up to the same tricks? UPDATE: Apparently yes, they are. S.P.
2.
I smashed him into the ground like a blonde tent peg!
Finding an entrance where they can. S.P.
3. You'd need to connect the preamp outputs of both amps to separate channels on a mixer. The output of the mixer would then need to go to a separate power amp, which would be connected to the speaker cab. S.P.
4. I have four of these supported by three of these apiece. They've been up for over 2 years without any problems so far. S.P.
5.
The line There is a mark (made by a badly thrown dart) on the headstock as shown on picture 3 caught my eye - just how badly were they playing?
Maybe the thrower was actually spot on, and it was the bass playing that was bad. S.P.
6. Heh - item condition: like new. I'm guessing that "owned and played by" means that he played it for the total of about 2 minutes. Edit: actually, hang on, if it's a '76, then it probably has been properly played. Which makes the "like new" designation even more ludicrous. S.P.
7. Here's how I might rewrite your advert. We are Hell To Pay and we are looking for a new bass player. We'd describe ourselves as a Manchester-based Hard Rock band, but you can judge for yourself here - http://www.myspace.com/helltopayband - and here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkxckqCzRtc We need someone who can keep good time, but also knows when to throw in a little creativity to enhance a bass line. Backing vocals desirable but not essential. We're in our early/mid 20s and have been playing together for 18 months. In that time we have (blah blah blah - keep this as brief as possible, just list the best stuff). Our next plans are to record an album and (blah blah blah - on the contrary, the more stuff you can put in here, the better). If you're interested, please email us at [email protected] Fred (guitarist) (make sure you give it the personal touch)
8.
looking for a bassist in their early to mid 20's.
This might be your problem. You're excluding about 90% of possible candidates in one quick swoop there. How about changing it to "we are in our early to mid 20's" or something. The current wording is basically saying "if you're 28 years old, we're not interested." S.P.
9.
try this
Oh that's helpful. But it's not a closeup. Oh, wait, I've got this. There. S.P.
10. Can you offer a closeup of the headstock, ideally against a paler background? S.P.
11.
Attendees list updated on the first post on page 1...
Incidentally, last year I suggested that we use a wiki page to maintain the list of attendees - then everybody can edit it themselves. What do you think? S.P.
12.
Nice and cheap. I've really got to get me a cheap bass head...
Scour eBay and gumtree for a used Peavey. That'll probably do you nicely. S.P.
13. Assuming you are talking about the Ibanez PD7, you need to turn the knob marked "Level" (the rightmost one) to the left. You'll need to experiment a little to find the setting that gives you the desired result. S.P.
14. Heh, I'm having fun browsing your bookshelves. S.P.
15. Ah the famous gold sparkle jazz bass. Previously seen on basschat here and here and here and here and here and here and here. S.P.
16. I hate matching headstocks, gold hardware, and brightly coloured straps. S.P.
17. Count me in. My equipment list is on my profile page - I'll bring anything that anyone expresses an interest in (so, I'll be travelling light then ) S.P.
18. OP has an Ampeg B5R which is rated down to 2 ohms, and presumably is trying to get the full 500W out of it, instead of the 350W that you get at 4 ohm. To the OP - if you do succeed in this, then prepare for somewhat disappointing results. S.P.
19.
Shergold had both a dreadful logo, and a habit of putting gothic black-letter script on scratchplate (as well as clunky, planky, styling). A shame, as they were as good as the early WALs they look so like.
Drop-shadows earn bonus points. S.P.
20. Mani's now deleted his twitter account. Fortunately, I had the insight to copy-paste the relevant tweets above. S.P.
21.
One has a bigger penis
Ah yes. Didn't see the penises at first. S.P.
22.
Not really feeling these fellas either
Ugh. To me, this looks like a double-neck with a 6-string and a 6-string. The bridges are clearly different, and the fboards are made from different woods, but other than that, I can't see what distinguishes the two halves. They both appear to be fretted. Anyone know? S.P.
23. Keep it flat, it looks like an Extra Strong Mint. S.P.
24.
Do you think Mani's a bit pissed off by any chance?
No idea what you're talking about. S.P.
25.
Hmmm... anybody know what the gossip is?
Mani's twitter account is very telling...
