(Thud).
Heh, I'm not trying to suggest that the placebo effect is necessarily stronger than a treatment that has been scientifically proven to give benefits. It's more the case that if you have a patient who needs a triple heart bypass, and the two options are (1) a homeopathic remedy, or (2) nothing whatsoever, then the patient in the first group will have a marginally higher chance of survival. But the same would be true if you gave them a normal sugar pill (which, technically, is what a homeopathic remedy actually is) and told them that it was a homeopathic pill. In this case, if you have two cables that are indistinguishable in a double-blind study, and hence functionally identical, you can gain a marginal benefit by playing the psychological game. As long as the subject doesn't know that this is what's happening, of course. S.P.
 2.
Now point me to the difference between those cables and OBBM apart of being 4 times more expensive ?
People who have spent 4 times as much on a lead will believe that the lead is 4 times better. This will give them a confidence boost, and they will play better as a result. Don't knock the placebo effect - it achieves real and measurable results. S.P.
 3. n. Camouflage. Play as many notes as possible, while simultaneously saying "bubbady dubbady dum ba dum" into the microphone. The right one has got to be in there somewhere. S.P.
 4.
Hunh? Lots of ice cream?
Si Señor! S.P.
 5.
Just opened a case.
What was inside it? S.P.
 6.
Hah. Sir...I eat pox for breakfast! But seriously, I tried two that were in the Bass Centre a few years back and they lacked sustain because the body wasn't rigid enough. Yours may be completely different for all I know, though.
Nope, I'd say that's a fair assessment. But complaining about a Sinsonido's lack of sustain is like complaining about the fact that you can't fit your drumkit on the back of a bicycle. If you need something that you can fit on the back of a bicycle, then don't buy a drumkit. And if you need bags of sustain all the time, then don't buy a Sinsonido. I don't use mine in all situations, but it's definitely got a place in my life. S.P.
 7. By the looks of things, there might be a neck dive problem with that one. S.P.
 8.
Hello again! I've sorted myself out with a bass now I need an amp. I have a £300 limit. I'm looking for a head unit rather than a combo (renting cabs at practice rooms and borrowing cabs at shows means that's all I need). I'm really not too familiar with what's good in terms of bass amps. I've got a Sound City L120 in the repair shop, well, saying that my mate has had it for over a year now, I think he might have disappeared! What's good in this price range? Trace Elliot, Ashdown, Ampeg (although these seem very expensive)? Help!
Hartke LH500 is £300 new and is a superb amp head. However, I'd suggest that you be very, very certain that you don't need a cab. S.P.
 9.
The Aria equivalent of this bass is awful. I hope this is better. I like the 'body' shape.
Are you referring to my beloved Sinsonido? A pox on you, sire! S.P.
 10. Get that male vocalist back, if you can. Do the gigs without a lead guitarist. S.P.
 11.
4F - flat? Forward, f***face. Vulgar, but I've never forgotten it.
Neither, I suspect, will I. S.P.
 12. Every time I need to set my intonation, I need to go online to remind myself that if the 12th fret is flat (relative to the open string), then I need to shorten the string, and not the other way round. Does anyone know any good tricks or mnemonics to make this easier to recall? S.P.
 13. Being a bass player in such a situation must surely be like being a bass player in a band with 3 bass players. Even if you were audible, what could you possibly contribute to the sound? Anything melodic that you do will be frequency-stomped by the guitarists. Anything rhythmic that you do will be frequency-stomped and rhythm-stomped by the guitarists. I hope that I'm mistaken. S.P.
 14.
Do they have one in a colour other than Olympic white though?
The CV jazz is only available in that colour, yes. There are also two CV precisions available - a 50s style one in LPB and a 60s style one in sonic blue. You can also get the CV jazz from soundslive for £248 - here. S.P.
 15.
SOmething similar happened to one of the BC members and he told us about it here. It led to a rush on circuit breakers (me included!) I can't remember the chap's name I'm afraid.
You may be looking for this thread. S.P.
 16. Another satisfied customer - my second order, doubtless not my last. Fast and friendly as usual. S.P.
 17.
So are you saying there is no protection? If so, what is the point of an RCD? I don't gget it....have I missed something?
An RCD's response time is of the order of 50ms. So you'll get shocked for 50ms. It will be unpleasant, but hopefully not kill you. S.P.
 18.
So what's the answer apart from wearing thick welly boots?
Actually, even thick welly boots won't help you. Generally the main problem you'll encounter at a gig is where one hand is touching your bass strings (or bridge, or control knobs) and the other is touching something else (microphone, someone else's guitar, etc) and the current is passing through your body from arm to arm. You could wear thick rubber gloves, I suppose, but that might impair your playing. S.P.
 19.
just remember it'll all be worth it in the end
Or it might not be. It's impossible to predict with 100% accuracy. Hey, I'm just managing expectations here. S.P.
 20.
Yes!! Honk!! Could use symbols like on Orange amps - a horn with a bulb symbol for honk . Sub could be a submarine etc etc
Puffin could be a picture of a puffin... S.P.
 21.
Nearly done mate, as Eude says, hang in there
Yep, just a few years to go. S.P.
 22. I've never used one of Pete Cornish's cables, and probably never will, because I can't justify spending that much money on a cable. S.P.
 23. Possibly, what condition is the power lead in? Your safest bet is probably to contact Ashdown customer support before you try plugging that amp in again. S.P.
 24. This suggests to me a possible problem with your home wiring. Have you tried the amp elsewhere? S.P.
