2. Damnit you guys have got me thinking about RAM upgrades. My home desktop has 512 MB, and could probably do with a smidgen more. S.P.
 3.
It has a CRT monitor and was in it's day quite a powerful machine, fine for kids to mess around on or WHY.

specs?
486 then. S.P.
 4.
if he was a Jedi nothing would have happened to him.
"These are not the song titles you are looking for." S.P.
 5. It's political correctness gone mad. I blame Gordon Brown. S.P.
 6. I'm interested in the process of how you design these. Presumably you have a collection of separate transparent images of bodies, necks, bridges etc, which you then assemble and line up - is that right? S.P.
 7. I think that if you're planning to personalise your amp, then surely asking other people for their opinions kinda defeats the object? Just do what looks good to you. Name the knobs and sliders after varieties of seabird if that's what grabs you. S.P.
 8.
It isn't usually the peaks which destroy modern speakers which are designed to mechanically limit this problem. They burn out when they are driven by excessive amplifier power over long periods of hours rather than minutes or seconds so it is your average power that matters.
In the context of bass speakers, I was under the impression that it was the other way round.
The peaks may sound like the aftermath of a mega chilli but they won't necessarily damage the speaker.
Again, I'm doubting that you know what you're talking about here. S.P.
 9. If you do find a cheap, light, loud 4x10 with even frequency response, please let me know, as I think I'd like one of those too. S.P.
 10. Oh man, I'd love that bass. I'd replace the bridge with a badass, replace the tuners with lightweight ones. Maybe defret it. I'd definitely give it a purple sparkle finish and a mirror pickguard. Then, and only then, would it be awesome. S.P.
 11.
I would probably put the Rocktron in the effects loop- should look tidier that way!
Agreed. All the wiring will be at the back. S.P.
 12.
Four times this year bands that I’m gigging with have been recorded without our prior knowledge. And on three of those four it was the promoter! Now I've just found several YouTube’s of my first gig with a band I've just joined. We had no rehearsals and I'm busking and reading. I think I did a good job for a first gig but the band was a bit shaky in places and there's no way would I want that gig to be filmed! I'm finding it annoying that unapproved performances are being put into the pubic domain like this in a way that gives us no editorial control over the quality of the performance. Anyone else had or having this problem?
As far as preventing people from filming it is concerned, the only way to achieve that is to not play the gig in the first place. If you do discover stuff on YouTube and you want it removed, a polite message to the account holder usually works. If they refuse, use the YouTube copyright complaint form. S.P.
 13.
Want to to use your bass amp but not let anyone else use it? You can get a gig somewhere else, because we don't want you. If bands can't be nice to each other and share, then they haven't got the right mindset for a DIY night.
It's a different thing. Making arrangements to share kit in advance is one thing. The ranting in this thread is about people who turn up without their amp, assuming that they'll be able to borrow someone else's. That's disrespectful. S.P.
 14.
Looking for advice/help on home recording. Never done it. Be handy if people could give me some tips on how to start out. What are the best interfaces to purchase at a reasonable price. What equipment will i need to produce the most polished off sound bla bla bla.
Welcome to Basschat! Are you planning on using your home computer for the recording, or would you prefer a dedicated hardware multitracker? How many channels do you need - are you going to be miking up a full drumkit? What's your budget? Do you already have a microphone? Also, this should have been posted in here but I'm sure that a moderator will be along to move it shortly. S.P.
 15.
Is this the ebay bass with no pics? If so +1 for awesome
Now THAT is punk. S.P.

 17. VMJs usually go for about [s]£200[/s]* second hand. For some people, the signatures may increase its value. For others, they may detract. S.P. * I vastly overestimated the current price for a new one. Please ignore me.
 18.
I suspect the Peavey Tour TNT is 600w max, not RMS.
The 600W will be what you get when you connect up an external extension cabinet, so it will get about 450W on its own. All figures RMS. S.P.
 19.
Sometimes, it isn't all about money.
Depends how much of it you have. S.P.
 20. The seller hasn't stated whether it has a neck or not. For that reason, I'd be wary. S.P.
 21.
I'm in bloody tears watching that cat! Excellent
Heh, and now I've removed it and you look like a lunatic. For everyone else's benefit: S.P.
 22. Very strong magnet. Failing that, replace the whole socket. They're not expensive. S.P.
 23.
Is there a 'Cymbalchat' anywhere?
There's a sub-forum of drumchat.com called "Cymbal Chat", if that's enough to satisfy you. S.P.

 25.
once he's set his drums up, make sure you have a good old bash around his kit and see how he likes it! preferably whilst he's stood there too
This one can backfire horrendously. If he's not as precious about his gear as you are about yours, then he'll interpret this as meaning that the two of you can play on each others kit as and when you feel like it. S.P.
