1. Actually, Alex. I've changed my mind. I've decided that I don't want a Compact after all. Cancel my order. Various reasons, the most significant of which being that I want one of these instead. S.P.
 2.
how much do you want for the cat?
I think the cat is an AccuGroove accessory, and won't be compatible with other manufacturers. S.P.
 3. If I was planning on selling a bass for £1,500 you know that I'd make a bit more of an effort with the photographs. S.P.
 4.
I started a battery thread somewhere. There are some excellent deals online for 9V batteries.
Search Amazon for Procell 9v. Pack of 10 for about £10. That's all you need. Edit: oh, and here's your thread Syed. S.P.
 5. You will be mine. Oh yes. You will be mine. S.P.
 6. Just to echo the above comments, I also once had a small component fail on an Aria bass and they sent me a new one for free. Excellent customer service. S.P.
 7. Had a great gig last night. It's funny how my desire to be in this band goes in a certain cycle. It peaks during (and in the few days after) a gig, and then gradually drops away again until about an hour before the next gig. So I guess we need to do more gigs. Drummer hasn't been practising much lately, and it showed. He kept slowing down and pulling off really clumsy fills. I felt like I was really carrying the rhythm section last night. The other guy playing bass last night had a really tasty fretless Sei Flamboyant Lightwave which he let me have a few moments with. I was most taken with the feel of the neck. S.P.
 8.
and the fretting hand?
Lighter strings (maybe flatwounds?), lower action. S.P.
 9. My main thinking behind this suggestion was that it would make it easier to style "Off Topic" threads in a way that makes them easier to ignore, unless you are actually looking for them. S.P.
 10. I've always felt that expensive basses are for good players who know how to get the best out of them. Which is why I've never spent more than £300 on a bass. S.P.
 11.
I fear he would have to pay a fortune to the publisher of the music to release it on here.
In fact, I fear that he's inviting litigation just by mentioning the names of the songs. S.P.
 12.
With our previous drummer who often struggled with tempos the solution was to get him to focus on the lyrics - if the lyrics feel like they're going by at the right speed then so the song is running at the right tempo. Once he had them in his head then he usually ended up pretty dead on. Alex
I think that often, drummers are so focussed on their drumming that they forget there's a song going on around them. In fact, I think the same can probably be said of any instrument, it's just that the effects are most noticeable when the drummer does it. S.P.
 13.
However I simply can't work out what's going on in those first two pictures.
I'm glad that it's not just me. S.P.
 14.
Oh and the guy at my store recomended me this amp: http://www.prolineaudio.co.uk/shopsub3.asp?submenu3=BHBX1800 Any body had any experience with behringer amps? 180 wats for £150 i think something must be up buts thats just me. Thx for all the replys adam
Behringer might not be such a good idea. S.P.
 15.
Where are you? Maybe worth checking out the For Sale section? I've got a Peavey Firebass head and 2x10 cab I can do you a deal on (because I like you, you understand?).
I endorse this, actually. Having owned a similar setup in the past, I can vouch that it will give you plenty of volume. It's heavy, but loud. That amp head alone weighs about as much as 7 newborn babies. To put it in an easily-visualisable context for you. Edit: oh, and welcome to the forum. S.P.
 16.
I have a budget of £220 max and would like to get at least a 100watt amp as my mate plays guitar in our band and has a 150watt amp. So any help would be appreciated Thx Adam
You can get a brand-new >100W combo for under £200 (example) but it might not be loud enough. Are you willing to buy second-hand? How loud does the guitarist play? S.P.
 17.
Well, Friday actually. A St.Pat's Celebration in a church hall. One of the highlights was this, seen backstage..
That's beautiful. Speaks volumes about organised religion in general, doesn't it? S.P.
 18.
Given that listing, would you, or would you not expect the pedal to include the 9V DC external psu?
I would. It says:
Other features include [...] and included external power supply.
I know that's included as a copy-paste of the "website jargon" but it still suggests that the power supply which originally came with the pedal will be included.
What should I do now?
You can file a dispute. If I were in your shoes, I'd just buy a power supply and not do business with that seller again. S.P.
 19.
it's real difficult to cut through marshall 100w valve heads and 4x12 cabs.
"]It's just a matter of using the right tools for the job. S.P.
 20.
Possibly, but it looks like bubinga to me. The colour and grain texture is what I'd expect to see.
That's what I thought you might say. I'm not an expert at identifying woods, it just struck me as a possibility. It wouldn't be the first time that an eBay seller has misrepresented their wares, be it through malice or ignorance. S.P.
 21. Is it possible that the seller is mistaken, and it's not actually bubinga? S.P.
 22.
Just as well I've never written a song worth nicking, eh! How about sticking them on a website somewhere (with or without public access)?
The problem is that even if someone were to write a song that was spookily similar to one of Steve's guitarist's songs, you'd have to prove that they knowingly "stole" it, and didn't just coincidentally write a song that was very similar. For this to be an issue, the following things must happen: 1. The song must get intercepted 2. The person who intercepts it must like it enough to want to copy it 3. The person who intercepts it must actually go ahead and copy it 4. Make some money off of it, and... 5. Steve (or his guitarist) must find out about this. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's highly improbable. S.P.
 23.
Maybe the fact that the file 'mysong.mp3' is datestamped 20/03/2009 and Bastard Records are claiming they wrote the song on 22/03/2009 would be enough evidence? ie, the very act of making an MP3 proves the date you recorded it?
In theory, but in reality it's too easy to change the datestamp on a file. S.P.
 24.
Hi their everyone, I have an Ashdown Electric Blue 180 combo with 15" speaker. The problem is I have trouble cutting through the sound of our two guitars, I am unsure which way to go. Do I get an extra cab, or swap my combo for one with a more powerfull amphead? I want to keep using a combo, and I dont have unlimted cash either. I was wondering what your thoughts were. Cheers, Hitchy
Extension cab would do you the world of good, because you'd be able to stack the EB combo up on top of it, putting the built-in speaker closer to ear level. You'd also be increasing speaker surface area, and increasing the wattage of your amp from 130W to 180W. S.P.
