2.
Think that would be a pretty large breakage risk.
Unless you made it out of titanium. (sorry, it felt like things were getting a little too sensible round here). S.P.
  3. What about making the headstock the same shape as the body, albeit smaller? S.P.
  4. It looks like the photo on the eBay listing is a stock photo of the model. I think that when the item is second hand, the seller should post a photo of the actual item.
Or any other ideas? Looking to spend about £150 to £200?
This. (or something like it) S.P.
  5.
show me a bass from 1968 thats not tarnished...its MINT for its age. jeeeeeze...
As the man says, you have a weird definition of "mint". Mint means "undamaged, as if freshly minted." There is no such thing as "mint for its age." S.P.
  6.
if they were good enough for John, then theyre good enough for me
I thought the whole point of them was that they weren't good enough for John, which is why he swapped the neck for a Fender, and stopped using them entirely after a couple of years. S.P.
  7.
That's a very subtle fan, ain't it?!
I'd say there's about an inch in it. S.P.
  8.
This is all original...its only had 3 owners including me.its been looked after immensly..clean as a whistle..its worth far more but i need a quick sale...its a beauty and is killing me to have it up for sale. but needs must...
It's a collector's item, not a player's bass. Its perceived value derives only from the fact that it is a rare design, and it was owned by the bassist from Oasis. It's only worth what people are willing to pay for it. S.P.
  9. I once had this solo project where I had to kick myself out of the band for musical differences. There was an awkward silence, and then I threw an ashtray at my own head, before storming out of the house and slamming the door behind me. Then there was another awkward moment where I realised that I had left my keys inside. I rang the doorbell but I didn't answer. S.P.
  10. If you're struggling to come up with a headstock design, then why not just make it a headless? (ducks) S.P.
  11.
That’s potentially a really good idea. I’ve got enough space on the back of the board for the holes for the power supply so it wouldn’t mean sacrificing any pedal space (not that I’ve even got enough to fill it at the moment ). See here:
You don't want it sticking out at the back. You want to keep the footprint rectangular for transit. I'd be looking into ways of using the space underneath the board. S.P.
  12. I think maybe you should take a break from this headstock-doodling. You're showing signs of delirium. S.P.
  13.
All I could think that a bigger improvement in tone/bass playing/style must come better from $1400 of lessons.
True, but then you'd be spending the hours as well as the dollars. S.P.
  14.
My solution to that is just to have the adapter placed on top of the pedalboard when I’m not using it and transporting it, then plug it into my extension socket that I’ll have near to the board when I’m using it, so realistically it’s not too much of a problem.
But then you run the risk of the adapter sliding off. I think you should cut three suitably-positioned rectangular holes in the top-left corner of the board, and then you can plug the adapter into there for transit. Maybe have a couple of pegs to wind the cord round too. Edit: though this does reduce the amount of space available for pedals. But you get the idea. S.P.
  15.
I’d be interested to hear people’s suggestions for improvements.
Presumably you've got a power supply brick somewhere out of shot - would it be possible to mount this to the underside of the board? It makes for one less thing to carry. S.P.

I think I'd be able to part with any of my basses if something better came along. S.P.
  18. Is it possible to get a separate VU meter and put it after the compressor in the signal chain? S.P.
  19.
Jazz trio gig. Played like a dick.
Did anyone else tell you that you played like a dick, or was that just your assessment? S.P.
  20.
Recent wheeze I've hit on to improve my timing is to imagine the drummer's kick pedal has broken, I now have to provide the bass drum beat for the band. It's just a mental thing but it sort of works.
Heh, I completely misread that the first time. I was about to reply saying "tell the lazy swine to buy a new kick pedal" and then decided that I should re-read it, just to be safe. I'm glad that I did. S.P.
  21. I bought an overdrive pedal from Neil yesterday and it arrived this morning. Very securely packaged and well padded. The pedal is, as promised, in excellent condition. Can't fault the dude. S.P.
  22.
people like us because we are not too loud and they can have a chat if they wish and listen at the same time
In my opinion, it sounds like you should avoid turning the volume up to match the drummer, and instead make sure that the drummer knows that you expect him to match his level to the rest of the band. S.P.
  23.
Source: Mail on Sunday
That's the relevant bit. Here's the link. S.P.
