1. Cool, very nice. Thanks. I managed to double click on each video so it opened up in youtube quit firefox, and then when you restart it they all start at the same time so you can flick between tabs and alter each track's volume. Uber-crude, but fun.
2. Personally i've tried a few techniques which aren't what i normally do and i have different opinions. I play fingerstyle 95% of the time with a bit of slap thrown in when the song needs it. double thumbing - played around with it at home and quickly realised i'll never use it in anger tapping - i've noodle around with it and come up with some nice stuff and it's fun to do, but again i'll never use it in anger. I did once, years ago for a very specific thing, but haven't since. Playing with a pick - it's something i feel that i need to keep practicing, only because i feel that certain songs do require it, just as certain songs may require a certain effect or tone. Fretless - Never really tried it, i dabbled with upright at college but realised i didn't have a passion for it as i do for electric bass so stopped. 3 finger right hand - i injured my middle finger on my right hand ages ago so i used my ring and index finger, when my middle finger was back in action i played with 3 fingers for a while, but as i wasn't playing hemi-demi-semi-quavers at 160 BPM i reverted back to using index and middle. I've settled for the fact that as i use 45's - 125's and have quite a high action, i'll not master the tuned machine gun slap sound, nor playing a million notes at a million miles an hour so i don't use the limited practice time i do have trying to get faster, nail the complex techniques or sound like Victor etc. After playing for 20 years i've reached a bit of a technical plateau, which i modestly think is quite a high standard, but realise i don't NEED to be able to play like the superheros. I try spend the time trying to keep in time, learning songs and becoming more musical.

6.
I am really impressed by "Transcribe!" software - free 30 day trial then costs about $50.
Seconded, one of the most used pieces of software I use. Brilliant yet simple.
7. Reef - Bloody Mary, and i'm off to see them (again!) tomorrow night. Woo hoo!
8. Pantera - Dallas Stars Fight Song
9. Here is my humble offering.. each one of these is awesome, in my opinion.
10. My actual homepage is twtd.co.uk which is the ipswich town fanzine website, but as firefox remembers the tabs i have open i always have, in order: Facebook, basschat, TWTD, bbc news, spedeworth, lloydstsb, lightnetwork.com and then it's on to whatever i was looking at last.
11.
I had a Deep Impact. Bought it for £50. Used it for a year. Thought it was poo next to my mates Boss Syb-3... Sold it for £80 and recall feeling chuffed for making profit from something I thought was a bit Cack. Oh how foolish was I....
I was going to say Deep Impact too. I found one on e-bay. It was in great nick and i got it for a pretty good price. I didn't really have a need for it but after reading and hearing so much about it i thought i should get it and give it a go as that price doesn't come around everyday. After having it for about a week i realised that i was right, and i had no need for it (it did sound good though) so i sold it (on here, for the same price i bought it for), and of course the price of one now will always continue to rise.
12. Radio 5's Saturday lunchtime programme fighting talk with Colin Murray (which is simply brilliant!) has always had the Beastie Boys' - Sabotage as the theme / intro / interlude music, but over the past handful of weeks the actual bass riff of the song has changed to something else. Does anyone know what the new riff is, or has someone just remixed the track and laid down a new bassline which fits? Also, when it uses the original riff, it seems that it's been looped and altered so it's no longer a straight 4/4 riff. Has anyone else noticed this or am i just not paying attention enough?
13.
A couple of mine have already been posted
This was my all time favourite song for a very long time... brilliant. I've always wanted to do it live, but still to this day haven't found a singer who can pull it off with aplomb (oo-er missus!).
14.
fixed. Clutch! Classic! More Rollins, from the end of the Andrew Weiss era
Clutch! They're brilliant!. My mate got me into them with Robot Hive / Exodus earlier this year and then a couple of weeks later they were at High Voltage festival which i was working at and they were awesome. (I got my mate in to the festival by way of thanks for getting me into them!!).
15. Ah, Maplin. I spend far too much time and money in there. It looks like quite a bargain and it could be something i may investigate too.
16. Mental! How the hell do you go about playing a beast like that?!!
17.
sounds okay to me, that note's probably the best part of the tune, but then I do listen to a lot of Doom and Sludge Metal
What's sludge metal??!
18.
This colour please!!! with a maple neck & black blocks!
Ooh... that's nice!
19. Not for me, but life would be boring if everyone agreed!
20. http://www.ernieball.co.uk/products/produc...0.0.0?pp=8& I've used these on all of my cabs and amps so far. They've been bumped up and down all manner of stairs and steps and have been rock solid and i'll definitely buy them again for the next cab i buy. Heartily recommended. Also, with them being pop-out you can get rid of them for the gig if needs be....
21.
It was just an excuse to post a very rare live clip of Chic playing in the 70's to be honest. But this is the clincher for me anyway...
The music sounds cool, but, my god they all look bored!!!!!!
22. I played 4 gigs this year (which seeing as i'm not in a band is a lot for me!). 2 in pubs in Bucks, 1 at a very close friend's wedding by request and lastly, yet most importantly at my wedding, with my closest mates, which will never be topped. A great year!
23. I wonder if anyone has ever made a bass / guitar with a Millenium Falcon shaped body, such as in the video?
24. For me, it's 1 - Flea, 2 - John Paul Jones 3 - Tim Commerford Whereas Jaco is an idol of mine and an inspiration, i certainly don't play like him
