1. Any interest in this lovely example? One of its last outings: https://youtu.be/x5itK1cL0hw & https://youtu.be/QxhFql_qIp4
2. A lovely example of the ever-popular Yamaha 424X, in black, and with hardly a mark on it. Fitted with D'addario EXP coated nickels, it has a lovely tone and is set up with a good low action. I will surely miss it, but I am now married to my 425X so it is not being used much and needs someone to gig it! Currently fitted with LOXX strap locks, but the original strap buttons will be replaced. Otherwise it is all original, about 3 years old. Try-out and collection from South Gloucestershire. I can post if required. Let me know if you have any questions, but much has been said and lauded about this instrument in these columns.
3. I have been told by The Management that I no longer need the gear I no longer use, so I am having to put it up for sale. We have: Ashdown MAG 300 EVO 3 (badged as a Toneman by Thomann), bought new late 2015 and in super condition. Was my main amp for most of 2015 and 2016. It is now mounted in a: Ashdown Rootmaster RM210T Combo cabinet. The RM420 (now my standby) was removed from the combo and replaced by the MAG300 and that is how I gigged it. I had to put a jack on the speaker wires coming out of the cab, but no issues there. The cab has two Rootmaster 10" speakers, with tweeter. Sounds great with the MAG300 Ashdown Rootmaster RM MAG 115 cab. Used with the MAG300 and 210T, this makes a great little stack with plenty of punch, and of course using all the power of the amp at 4 Ohms. Great for pubs and clubs. To get even more thunder, I sometimes used this instead of the 115, an Ashdown MAG 210T Deep. The combination of the 4 x 10" speakers gives a great sound, with the ported cab below particularly loud and thunderous. The MAG 210T Deep has an original Ashdown cover...and you know how much they cost new!! I am asking only £230 for the lot, or individually: MAG300 with 210T combo : £150 RM MAG 115 cab: £55 RM MAG 210T Deep cab: £50 Best would be collection, location South Gloucestershire. I would not like to have to try and post any of these. Let me know if you have any questions. I am also selling a superb Yamaha BB424X, as it is rarely used as I am married to my 425X now. That can be found in the basses for sale.
4. We recorded 6 live tracks on Sunday afternoon, and the first one is just being mixed to get the levels more or less right for the other five. Do you think this is a good final mix? Any comments most welcome!
5. Bought Ieuan's Barefaced Super 12. Great guy to deal with. Lovely cab, he looks after his gear.
6. I use a BB425X and love it for its tone and playability. The B string is a killer for a bass at this price level. I also have a Dean Edge fretless 5 with 35" scale, and that has a superb low B also, especially with Chromes. I bought that for peanuts.

8. I had a similar problem with my Ashdown RM420 (D class!) amp not making the best of my natural p-bass sound, and getting lost in the mix; so I spent £24 on a Behringer BDI 21 modeller and the difference is immense. Really adds tone. I was quite shocked what a difference such a low investment would make. Certainly worth a go at this price I would say.
9. Hi there! Did you find any black lightweight elephant ear tuners in the end? I am also looking to replace some heavy tuners in 18mm holes.
10. We are an established blues and blues rock 5-piece, losing their lead guitar for personal reasons. We play mostly pub gigs, festivals (even in France!), parties etc. We have gigs lined up and need a new blues guitarist pretty quickly. We are based in the Gloucester/Stroud/Cheltenham areas. We now have our man!
11. I bought a P-strat 5 string pup from Etienne Lauzon in Canada. It has more height than a standard P with much character. P pup on steroids! But I guess the crap exchange rate may kill this option.
12. I like the way the chrome glints in the lights...! Also more practical for access to the ruddy 3-way switch which often needs a little squirt. They are not the lightest bass, but sound a lot more like a P than most P's. And more like a Jazz than a lot of jazz's. And sometimes at a pinch much like a 'ray on some days of the week. Love mine; rather unique and lovely, with their own characters.
13. The low B is as good as any, and very usable higher up the neck. Obviously depends on the string used, with coated elixirs it sounds good, if a bit floppy. Out of the box these are well set up.
14. I have a 424X and a 425X, and now play nothing else. Despite being the same age, with the same Elixir strings, they have slightly different characters. The 4 seems more gentle with a gorgeous P tone, while the 5 is a real tone monster seemingly more aggressive. Love 'em both. Play both at gigs depending on my mood!
15. Did you get this sorted? My new 425 arrived with a bent machine head, probably suffered just like yours did. The dealer I bought it from is arranging with Yamaha spares to get me a replacement. It is taking a few weeks to arrive (in the meantime I have stopped the key rattling by stuffing Blutac into it!) but if they can do it for me (admittedly under warranty) they should be able to do it for you. My contact is Will Everett at Musicjunkie [email protected] Good luck! Chris
16. Oh yes. Next door to the Swan Hotel where you played before, earlier this year I think?
17. I am playing on Saturday about 6pm. www.route61.band I did use flats for the last 12 months. Recently moved to Elixir condom wrapped....
18. If you are in Gloucestershire this weekend, why not spend some time in Wotton-under-Edge and enjoy two days of blues, all free! See more here: www.wottonbluesfest.org
19. Anyone want one of the best B-strings in the business for a bargain price?
20. Hi Paul, Our kitchen scales put it at 10lb 1oz., or just over 4.5kg. I assume they are accurate! It feels good on the strap though as it is very well-balanced. It has very nice sustain. Let me know if you need any more info. Chris
21. Still available. I am able to post, and there is a deal to be done here!
22. For sale is my much-loved Squier Deluxe Dimension V. I have owned it from new since February 2015 and there is not a mark on it. It has been rehearsed, gigged and recorded fairly extensively over the past 18 months or so, but it is cared for and blemish-free. It plays beautifully, lovely neck, reasonably light-weight small body; very comfortable. All the songs recorded here were made with this bass using Chrome flats. The Dimension is currently fitted with Dean Markley Blue Steels which give it quite a unique tone, and they will be coming with it. It is a very well-finished bass, extraordinary value for money, with quality components including a Fender Hi-Mass bridge; I will be very sad to see it go as it does have its own sound, unlike any other Fender/Squier. I prefer for the buyer to try it out and collect (I live in Wotton-under-Edge between Gloucester and Bristol) but can post if absolutely necessary!
