I read this article a couple of weeks ago. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/reverb-best-selling-bass-guitars-2022 I'm not sure I buy the idea that the Squier Bass VI being the best selling bass on Reverb of 2022 is really down to a Beatles documentary, but what ever the reason I'd be very surprised if we don't see more special editions from Squier and probably Fender themselves incorporating it into their own ranges, for a while at least, over the next couple of years. I'm sure we'll see more bass vi types from other manufacturers too.

It's impossible to be 100% ,but the way it was packaged and sealed in the box was pristine, right down to the foam bag thingy around the instrument. My guess is it came from the factory like that and that Andertons never had it out of the box between it arriving with them and sending it to me. It's definitely started to settle now. The first couple of times I tuned the E went down to around C flat within about 5 minutes. Just now it had slipped from E to Eflatish in about hour. I reckon by tomorrow it will hopefully be fine, then I'll have a proper look at the neck relief and whether the truss rod needs a tweak.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a vi for years. Came very close to buying a Burns Barracuda vi a few years back but they ran out of stock and never got anymore in. Anyway as soon as I set eyes on these at Andertons a few weeks back it was pretty much the end of all resistance. First impressions mostly favourable, not found any finishing or fret issues and the elctronics seem to work as they should. Only slight niggle is that it was shipped with the strings completely slack and at the moment it's almost impossible to keep in tune. I'll keep tensioning the strings every hour or so and hopefully it'll settle down pretty soon . One thinh I was quite suprised at was for the brief periods I've had it in tune the low E feels and sounds OK. I ordered some Newtone Axion at the same time as the guitar, but I'm not sure I'm going to need them. I put it through my Katana guitar amp and when it's in tune it sounds great, especially with a bit of reverb, I'll try it through the Hartke rig later. Assuming the tuning issues sort themselves out I think I'm going to very happy with this one.

I didn't think it was worth starting a new topic over, just a warning tbat there may have been a glitch in Anderton's matrix for anyone who's ordered somwthing in the last couple of days. I ordered something yesterday and got acknowledgement email aaying my order was being processed and would be with me today. Because I hadn't had a 'dispatched' email from them or a nessage from a courier within 24hrs this morning I checked my Andertons order history on their website and yesterday's order wasn't on it. I set them a message via their 'contact us' link on their help page and within 20 mins someone got back to me to say that for some reason, though payment has been taken for some reason the order 'did not download to their system' He also said that he'd processed the order manually and it should be with me tomorrow. So just a heads up to anyone who's ordered from them in the last couple of days if you've not had the 'your item has been dispatched' email it might be worth checking with them. And kudos to Andertons. I've only ever had one other problem with them, a bass with a dead pickup and much like today they arranged a solution within minutes of me making them aware.

Many have tried, but I can't think of a new Christmas song that's made itself a permanent fixture on the festive playlists that was released later than 1994, which a quick Google has informed me saw the release of East17's ''Stay Now' as well Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas'.

I saw them at Glasto in the 90s, I enjoyed the gig but wasn't huge into them until quite recently. I've been really enjoying discovering their back catalogue, they're just one of those special bands that have their own unique, instantly recognosable sound.

I think the goal posts have moved on what gets considerdd 'metal' these days. Back in my day it was pretty much anything with distorted guitars. These days it seems that for something to be 'metal' it has to have grunting/screaming vocals what we used to call 'thrash' guitars (heavy distortion with palm muting) and only use minor scales. Which is possibly why despite it's fans spliting it into a comically large number of sub genres, it all sounds a bit samey to me. Though I stopped listening to heavy music in my early 20s I was a huge fan of Anthrax, Megadeth and to a lesser extent Metallica back in the day, I was never that into Slayer though, and to me it's Slayer who actually seem to be the most influential ìn the direction modern Metal has taken.

Nice basses! I know some people think a PJ is a compromise, but to me it's the best of both worlds I also prefer the ergonomics of a Jazz so a Jazz PJ would probably be ideal for me.

I was in my teens and 20s in the 1990s when half the britpop bands were trying to sound like the Beatles from various eras. No fault of the Beatles but it sort of sullied the originals a bit for me as by the time I tried to properly listen to the originals it felt like I'd already heard it all before.

Fender put the Bass VI into all your ranges and offer it in something other than sunburst/tort.

Another vote for DR Hi Beams, the zingiest strings I've ever found. And don't be taken in by Dunlop Super Brights as I was a few years ago. They're average bright at best.

I've come close to getting a pelham blue one. Never played one but it's so pretty that if I didn't get on with it I could just frame it and hang it on a wall.
