  1. Keef uses that guitar tuned in open G and plays it without a low e string. Still doesn't explain the lack of wear under the A or what he's been doing to cause that much damage to the end of the fretboard after the 22nd fret. Edit:It's also slightly odd that the 'reproduction' has 22 frets. The original has the usual 21.
  2. I'm definitely not doing the cat thing.
  3. I thought it was Basschat law that someone mentions the Zoom B1on in these situations. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-B1on-Bass-Effects-Pedal/dp/B00JLEHMG6 It's a perfect headphone only practice amp and so much more.
  4. The Fender website is infuriating to use. They offer ebony but only with with certain colours. https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/electric-basses/jazz-bass/american-elite-jazz-bass-v/0197101719.html Unless you click through all the colour options you can't see what type of board it comes with. The website does seem to say that the colour in the OP comes with a maple board though. Edited for incorrect link.
  5. I genuinely enjoyed that. Ethically I'm conflicted about their stance on slaughtering endangered species. But otherwise it's brilliant.
  6. I seem to recall that @Dood had his own Deacon tribute bass at some point. Might have dreamt it though.
  7. I'm sure it's doable but I reckon it might feel a bit weird because maple boards pretty much always have a laquer or poly coating whereas ebony boards generally don't. I'm not sure it would be possible to get a seemless transition between the two materials. I'm leaning towards it being a photographic illusion/error of some sort although you'd think that images intended for advertising would be checked more carefull.
  8. I'm not keen on the Five. I'm sure plenty of people will love it but that fancy wood top and even the figured roasted neck (I normally like the look of roasted maple) is just too much 'bling' for me.
  9. I've not used the TS on bass but it's a relatively subtle effect when used with a guitar. I reckon it could be worth trying on bass to push it into that 'just starting to break up' zone.
  10. If you just want a bit of grit it might be worth just checking out some of amp and cab sims on their own. The SVT is pretty growly. If you want more then there's plenty of options available, from a tube screamer type boost to the heaviest full on distortion.
  11. I've been trying out various new costumes. At the moment I'm thinking that I'll probably go back to something similar to the old one.
  12. I enjoyed that, cheers.
  13. When Sting performs with Shaggy do they just stick to material from the album they did together or do songs like 'Don't stand so Close to Me' and 'Fields of Gold' get a dance hall rap section added? Does Sting get a verse on 'Mr Boombastic'?
  14. He'll have to get it extracted first.
  15. At least the ads I'm getting now are mostly vaguely music related. Before I was constantly being invited to sign up to faith based dating agencies.
  16. Have you used the 'won it in the annual Basschat charity raffle' excuse yet? We could actually start a fake thread to 'prove' that such events are a regular occurrence for frequenters of these forums. Maybe have a word with one of the mods to see if it would be possible to back date it....
  17. I seem to recall that following certain shenanigans on an early US tour the Kinks actually got banned from touring in the US for most of the sixties which probably didn't do much to increase their US fan base.
  18. Another victim of the great avatar massacre of 2019. No idea why it happened but it's definitely connected to the ongoing work on the site. I redid mine yesterday. I tried to make one identical to the old one and failed so I might go for something completely different in the next few days. I doubt I'll be the only one. Exciting times ahead.

    Nemesis day

Not counting Telecaster, Les Paul and archtop style basses there have been two single cut bass designs that I've found myself actually liking the look of. Both of them have been built by AndyJr.
  20. I don't know about the albums but I saw them live a couple of times in the early 90s and he was swapping between 4 and 5 string Warwicks. He might have used a different bass at some point during the sets but if he did it could only have been for a couple of songs.
  21. Ah, sorry. My power supply is plugged into a multi plug power socket which i turn on and off at the wall. I'm not sure I've ever touched it while the Stomp was on.
  22. When I was researching the Stomp I came across some information from someone from Line 6 on their community forum. Basically they said that because of the way the tech inside the Stomp works that it will generate heat and get warm and not to worry about it. I'm guessing the same is true for the HX. As long as it's not so hot that it's uncomfortable to touch I reckon it'll be fine.
  23. It's a bit odd that they specify 'Only available as a right handed four string'. For that kind of money I'm assuming that the instrument is almost entirely hand crafted starting out from the blocks of wood. I don't see why making a left hander would present any kind of problem in the manufacturing process.
  24. I'm pretty sure someone on here had one of his actual basses, I can't remember who it was though or whether it was a signature model or one of his other Warwicks.
  25. +5 Might be a bit flamboyant but in my head I'm picturing it with a set of gold strings.
