I'm not sure if there's any point in releasing a bass version if doesn't at least try to emulate the original Moog circuitry.

Doesn't matter if it's Coldplay or One Direction or any other band I don't personally get, if they're shifting millions of units then they must be doing something musically 'right'.

Sounds dangerously close to that guy who practices ear splitting solos while rest of the band is trying to discuss song arrangements, presumably because he's already decided what he's going to do in that song. As you say, a bullet dodged.

Trujillo is so much more than just a metal bassist. He's a fully rounded musician who can ans has played the full gamut of styles from Jazz the full blown funk. To be honest I've always thought his talents are a little bit wasted in Metallica, although I'm sure Trujillo himself, and his paycheck, would disagree with me on that one.

After I defretted my Axe bass with the aid of a screw driver it had an action of around 1cm at the 12th (former) fret, even after I lowered the saddles to the point they were touching the bridge plate. In my defense I was about 17 at the time and hadn't considered the possible consequences of my spontaneous bout of luthiery.

I'm actually a bit anti signature instruments. If I do end up buying a fretless p7 or v7 I'll be quite tempted to file his name off. It's not that I don't like Marcus, as far as I'm concerned he's a complete genius, I'm just not comfortable with the idea of anyone thinking I'm trying to be him or copy his style, which of course I couldn't do in a million years anyway.

Without the Marcus Miller endorsement Sire would just be another Far East manufacturer making budget/mid range Fender clones. As it is the impact and traction they've gained in the global market in a very short period of time is pretty jaw dropping for a new player in the manufacturing market.

I saw Placebo 3 years ago at the Birmingham Academy. That was the gig that triggered my decsision, after 3 days of ear ringing, to start wearing earplugs for live music.

I think they've only just come into stock in Europe in the last week, although they've been available in the US for a couple of months. There are at least 2 youtube reviews I've seen, both of which were very positive. I'm seriously thinking about buying a fretless P7 in the next couple of months, assuming they don't sell out as fast as the V7s did when Thomman got their first batch in.

Personally I really don't like a sunburst finish on a Precision or Jazz, but I think it suits a Stratocaster perfectly. I couldn't even begin to explain why.... Anyway, enough thread derailment.

Tortoiseshell is a bit Marmite, to employ an old cliché. Personally, I've never seen a bass or guitar that I thought it looked good on. Which, I'm pretty sure, makes any opinion I may have on this particular combination entirely invalid. Sorry for posting. Carry on. Edit, Having said that I think black and mint, or an even darker shade of green always looks smart.
