Its just got here, and im a little excited to get home now... This will be the first time ive picked up a bass and pissed the neighbopurs off, ever! Im out all night in Canning Town watching a mates band so im not gonna get to play till tomorrow. Im also relying almost solely on StudyBass & a few downloaded video's to teach me the basics. Anything i should be aiming to be capable of doing within the 1st few hours/first few days?
Have you considered trying this? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=monkey+face
Smooth...
If your legs are really up to your ears then surely you already... [gets coat]
Or does she....? Got room in that coat for 2?
Hmph.... fine.. *skulks off and swears never to post full length photos anywhere ever again...*
Im sure your legs, arse, and ears are always welcome on the pages. Oh dear, this thread is wildly off topic. Anyway, i was wondering wether you get noticeably more sustain with those big Traben bridges like you have on your OLP? Anyone know if you can get the bridges seperately? Ive tried a search in the past to no avail.
Well sorry to disappoint but I'm fairly sure most of you guys are going to be rivalling me on the boobage front, but I make up for it by being 5 ft 9 and having legs up to my ears :brow:
You should seek circus work!

That is sexy as hell... and I didnt even know a bass could be sexy.
Well, us chaps seem to be hijacking the ladies thread here. What are we like?
I was under the impression this was an equal rights forum? Who said boobage? Ive got all the boobs a man (or girl) could ever need!
Long discussion about it here, including the buy in bulk idea.
It was that thread that gave me the inspiration to email Kurt in the first place. Only thing that worries me is the complete lack of a warranty if i get one of the basses with a shoddy finish. He replaces everything he sells in the USA quibble free.
Jesus - you had to ask, didn't you?
Ive got my eyes on a Jaguar copy, which means i'll probably order a Precision.

Im looking to order an SX from Rondo the weekend after next if you're still intending on going ahead? I have a mate living in Balham (South London) who wants to order a guitar from them at the same time aswell. Let me know... Im still eager to hear back from safetygav on UK based SX's tho if they work out financially better.
Probably right though... he he he he!!! - Though I am confident in my masculinity that I can admit, I really don't play games/consoles at all and therefore are rather useless at them. Would rather use my PC stacked to the hilt with music software ;o) Don't even get me started on football heh heh heh!
I havnt been into games for a few years now (except football manager), but i slammed a copy of Gran Turismo 4 in my PS2 the other day and ive been playing it since. What a game!
Maybe we should make it that you have to turn up looking like your avatar. I'm onto a winner there ( ), but I'd like to see you keep a small yellow bird on your head all day! EDIT: is it a duckling?
I pity the fool that tries to out dress me! -

Sounds good to me, another date in my calendar. I used to live 10mins from Guildford si it'll be nice n' nostalgic. If theres a Corvette $$, a Bongo, and a Traben present i'll be well chuffed! -

This sounds awesome... Although i will not have anything worth bringing myself. What should I expect from the day, i have no idea how these Bash's work? -
Correct sir, it's the John Hornby Skewes 'ad mag' - seems to get everywhere these days - hasn't helped sales of Spongebob ukuleles tho....
Haha... Yeh i forgot to mention the great ads for everything spongebob! So now am i to believe the Vintage Advance range is half decent or not? Trevor Wilkinson knows what he's doing does he not? I've also been wondering whether his Italia Modulus Bass is any good with 4pickups, one for each string? Its certainly unique.

I fear it is confusion... Damnit!
or dare i say, a bit older!
Nah... im as immature as it gets, and the day i dont laugh at American Pie & Super Bad will be the day i get myself cremated.

Im originally a big metal/rock loving man, and am learning the bass to play in such a band, but since i've been researching and learning i've noticed my ears are now partial to a bit of blues, jazz, and funk! I find myself putting on a bit of Jaco or Bootsy when i get in from work to unwind rather than my usual blend of Avenged, Atreyu, and Dio. Has anyone else found this or am i the only one going mad?
-
On another note, I bought a copy of Guitar Buyer at the weekend, solely for a review of the Warwick Streamer LX & a piece on Steinberger and his innovations, anyway, it came with a copy of Gear (the uk's #1 free musicians magazine). Does anyone know wether Trev Wilkinson has anything to do with this mag because it was the most pro Vintage & Fret-King read ive ever had. My only surprise was that there were no Italia's in there.
To be honest (am I the only one who types that anymore??), I think they're both pretty shoddy. BassPlayer is full of crappy adverts using phrases like "Holdin' it down with the Dawg Pound" etc etc, and BGM lacks the bollocks to call a peice of kit sh*t when reviewing it. I still buy both though. I think BGM has potential but needs a kick up the arse.
Im a complete beginner, and wont pick up my first bass properly untill friday, and ive bought a couple of issues of both mags and out of the pair i preferred BGM it was just a little easier to get into with limited knowledge, but i agree with BigBeef, i still wasnt all that impressed. Maybe the more i get to the know the subject the more i'll appreciate them, but jusy like most of you, i'll continue to buy both.

Are the Corvette Standard and $$ as heavy, and uncomfortable as what a lot of people say? With a nice wide comfy strap i find it hard to believe any bass can get "heavy" over your average gig set.
Im sure it will make a comeback.. Either that or you could corner a new market, water into beer!
Don't get me wrong, im good at what i do but beer is a recipe best left well alone. In my eyes there is Kronenburg, and there are other beers. I know Messiahburg could never match Kroney for it sheer hops-iness (a real word, probably), and attention to fizz and slow release drunkeness, and i would never want to produce just 'another' beer. For this reason i only produce Red Wine, and Spirits. note: Jesus is under 40years of age and therefore does not drink fizzless beer and ales.
What about that water into wine stuff? I bet you get invited to all the parties!
Wines not as popular with the mass's as it used to be. Water into Sambuca draws a bigger crowd these days.
