3. SOLD SOLD SOLD I've just taken delivery of a new lighter 1x15 cab so this is surplus to requirements. Full details of the spec can be found at the foot of the following page: http://www.marshallamps.com/heritage/dbs/dbs_02.asp I bought it in August 01 and have never had any problems with it. It has some superficial gigging damage to the covering which you can see in the pictures: This is now on ebay with a delivery option: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=280340629025 Any questions, feel free to ask. Edited again because of the ebay thing. SOLD SOLD SOLD
  4. Hey hey! Check it out! I did it all by myself. Before: After: I'm so proud.
  5.
Bridge cover doesn't mind how the strings are strung, unless they are strungg through a badass 2, in which case it won't fit. Get some wide masking tape and put bunches around wherever you are working on the bass, prevents dings and you can mark any holes you are drilling and double check they are in the right place.
Cheers for the advice! Wish me luck, I'm going in.....
  6. I'm going to give this a bash tonight I think, but before I do, I've got what I imagine is a stupid question. When changing the strings on a P-Bass with an ashtray bridge cover, I assume you need to take the cover off. Is this correct? The other thing I thought is that you shouldn't use a bridge cover unless the strings go through the body at the bridge (which mine don't).
  7. Please post any feedback from transactions you've had with me here. Ta
  8.
Practice and if needsbe simplify the bass line. Saw Slayer once close up and while singing Tom Araya played quite striaght forward bass lines only showboating when there was no vocal, seemed a goodish move to me.
My approach exactly. Although if I have to use simplified bass lines to get the vocal, once I've got the vocal I work on making the bassline more interesting. But as everyone else says, practice practice practice. Don't be afraid of making balls ups in practice in front of your mates. Keep making the balls ups there and insist on going over the bits you're shaky on until you're confident. It doesn't come overnight either. Edited to add: But it does come.
  9. Chuck Berry - You never can tell.
  10. UNDER OFFER: Zoom 506 Bass Mini effects processor: http://www.zoom.co.jp/archive/English_Manual/E_506.pdf This seems to be pretty much in working order although I've never used it with the power cable (which I don't have) only batteries (it takes one 9V). here's some photos: You can have it for a tenner delivered (to the UK) including the battery! Anyone interested?
  11.
i aint particularly but i know a few guys who are a bit handy so they shall be getting a call soon. And if you want some feedback i'm all for posting it, i dont know what the 'rules of feedback' are
I'll get it sent over to you first, then we can sort stuff like that out later if necessary.
  12.
haha, no worries, tbh even if i did get their first id have let him have it since he actually posted a thread asking for free stuff
I totally missed that. It's been sitting on a shelf for ages now, I'm glad it can be made useful by someone. Do you think this transaction means I need a feedback thread now? Even if it's free?
  13.
i posted a 'wanted: FX pedals' thread on this a week ago and i didn't think anyone would actually offer free fx. i was sending that message as quickly as i could so i hope it made sense.
I got the gist mate! Like I said, needs a bit of work but if you're handy I'm sure it can be resurrected.
  14.
pm sent, probably exactly the same time, who got their first.....
Ash_sak by a whisker. Sorry mate.

  16. For the postage (or collection), you can have a Zoom BFX708 Bass Effects processor that's been sat on a shelf next to my wife's flute (not played since school) and some piano books that got donated to me (never opened since I've had them). I gigged it for a while so it's not in mint condition, I'll post pictures when I work out how. This is a link to the manual: http://www.zoom.co.jp/archive/English_Manual/E_BFX708.pdf It's got a few issues:

the input jack socket is a bit unreliable, I wouldn't gig it without checking out the soldering and all that, you can get intermittent sound from it with a wiggle.
The thing takes 4 AA batteries but the battery cover is long gone.
I think the power input is dodgy too.
Other than that, it seems okay. If you're interested, let me know. Edited to Add: Already got a couple of offers, fast work! I'll re-post it if they fall through.
  17. Thanks for all your advice, I've tried to put some of it into practice during the two gigs that we had this weekend. The advice given by a number of people to tell yourself that you aren't nervous worked well, lots of calming breathing did the trick too. I normally need a Guinness next to me to steady the nerves but on Friday I decided to try without and it went fine, I am free of substance dependency! Cheers again everyone, I'm most grateful.
  18. Cheers!
c*** = see you next tuesday
Reminds me of "there we are then"!
  19. One that I haven't seen elsewhere other than here is GAS. Anyone able to offer a translation?
  20. I've got a Squier P-Bass that's been my workhorse back-up bass for years now and I never use it. Never even take it to gigs anymore because my stingray is so reliable. Anyway, I had an idea to add chrome bridge and pickup covers and a thumb rest to it to make it look all retro and maybe start using it a bit in the 50s and 60s band I'm in. I'm okay at putting a shelf up but I've never tried to modify a guitar in any way. Is it worth me having a bash at fitting them myself or should I really go and find a pro? Also, if I'm going to possibly start using it at gigs would it be worth replacing the pickups at the same time? Any and all advice gratefully received.
  21.
Anyone used the Bass Centre recently? Are they worth dealing with? I have to decide where to spend my money (for what i'm looking for). Their site still mentions their premises near Liverpool St. (Is it now just the warehouse?) While their registered office, is a stone's through from me. The thing is, i'm thinking of spending pretty big, so i'd rather play the instrument than take a chance over the net.
I'm awaiting delivery of an Eden Nemesis 2x10 combo and a 1x15 cab from them that I ordered from their website at the start of November. Website said it was in stock, they emailed after it had all gone through (money taken from C-Card etc) to say the next delivery they were getting from Eden was at the end of January. According to them, I would struggle to find the things elsewhere at the mo. Having said all that, they were very nice about it and offered me (without me asking) a refund if I so desired. I decided to hang on and wait until January. I'll update you then if I remember.
  22.
Assume its all going to go tits up from the start and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Then, if it doesn't, its a pleasant surprise. Works for me, at least. Helps me abdicate any sense of responsibility for my f-ups too. There a clip of me playing on youtube somewhere, we're doing The Conga and I come in 4 bars too early. A song I've played hundreds of times before and the one time its recorded for posterity I f*** it up. No abdicating that one!
Not sure that the expectation of abject humiliation would be sufficient to calm the nerves!
  23.
Yeah, nerves are good, I've done breathing exercises whilst driving to a gig, sounds stupid but it's true. Try and get to the point where your nerves end up being the positive excitement of playing live.
Sounds like a plan man. I do Tai Chi so I suppose I should try some of those breathing techniques. It never really occurs to me when it gets to playing, there's always loads to do like soundchecking and flyering, I should probably take few minutes to settle myself.
  24.
Shows your human
You're probably right, I might just need to deal with the fact that it's going to happen and live with it.
  25.
Well, I think everyone would (probably) have that little bit of adrenalin and be a little psyched up for it. What I find ,is I'll be a little nervous before gig but after the 2nd song I'm beginning to do lots of silly rock poses forthe rest of gig! However, I do what I was told by my mentor. Have 2 drinks before I go on. No more than that tho'
I mostly try to just power on through by belting out the singing and generally just rocking out with the playing but it takes me about 6 songs to settle into enjoying it without my knees being a bit knocky and having to force my breaths to be steady.
