  1. Thanks for your replies. The sub route was my most likely choice but was interested in peoples opinion on whether the art 910s are much more capable than the 310s.Ill start scouring ebay etc.cheers
  2. After months of following the numerous pa threads and informative conversations with Phil Starr im about to buy a pa.i have chosen to buy rcf 10inch tops.My final question based on a budget of around 1000 pounds is would the 910 cabs be up to the job.We have double bass, bass drum, banjo and two vocals.Small to medium pubs are the venues. If a sub was needed id probably go the art310 route and pick up a used sub.cheers
  3. Im still.following pa.threads.with interest as i have yet to decide. Both the rcf 910 and hd10 are contenders but i cant find much difference between them.even the prices are close.
  4. Absolute steal at 400.great bit of kit
  5. Given the love on here for art 310s how do they compare to srm450s if a sub was added.
  6. I saw a texan accordian player called Ruben Moreno accompanied by l,il Jim from Derby in a local pub last night.Great foot tapping zydeco and cajun.
  7. Hi Phil,i follow these pa threads with interest as we still havnt made up our mind on which way to go.we are still a few months from being fully gig ready so are in no rush.If anyone organizes a ne pa type bash im happy to bring my qu 16 along.

  11. Always time for hayseed dixie
  12. Having had a look at bills comprehensive website which i found very interesting ,is it feasible to scale up his sla pro design to 4x10 plus tweeters and keep the advantages of the original design.the cabinetry isnt a problem for me but the correct dimensions and hence volume would require a new skill set for me.cheers
  13. I recall having a pair of bins made by custom sound.they had 100w 15 inch fanes and were bombproof.near the end of their life some 30 years later they lived outside on a trailer covered by a tarp and still kept going.eventually the chipboard cabinet fell apart
  14. This.may.sound a little.bizarre but the columns were to be the base to make them look like old american.gas pumps .we have double bass, banjo and a suitcase bass drum.we are a slightly off the wall duo but still want a clean powerful sound in the pubs we are intending to play.
  15. Cheers,ill have a look
  16. Thanks for your replies.I was hoping bill and phil would comment as they have far superior knowledge than me.Looks like converting existing columns is not feasible so ill look into constructing my own ,maybe along the lines of bills picture.More thought and study required.cheers.
  17. Thanks for your reply phil. Its for a small themed band.Just really wondering if its possible to get acceptable sound quality and reasonable volume from them in todays world.I realise calcs would be desirable if upgrading to modern drivers and also possibly internal mods.cheers
  18. Thamks.Bill,i.was.thinking about modding the top.aperture to take a proper.hf horn, leaving the.next.2 as mids and making the.bottom one bass albeit with some internal.mods.cheers
  19. Given that the latest pa systems are line array, how similar are they to the 4x12 speaker columns of the 70s,80s.with this in mind could a 4x 12 column be updated to give good performance whilst keeping the look.Internal mods would be ok,cheers

  23. I would hazard a guess that many people following and maybe commenting on this thread have yet to purchase their first handbox product. As someone who did and ended up with a deal that went sour i think its only right to point out that there is always another side.I have no issues with the quality of handbox equipment, indeed if my situation had been resolved correctly i would probably be playing through a handbox amp now
  24. Ive followed this thread with interest from the start. This led me to buying a pair of handbox cabs and my journey starts on page 14.As far as my understanding of consumer law goes if the goods are damaged in transit then it the responsibility of the retailer/manufacturer to either replace or reimburse the customer to the full value of the goods.Unfortunately this did not happen in my case so if the amp in question has been damaged in transit then i hope you have better luck than me.Caveat Emptor
  25. Do none of you handbox afficianados fancy some handbox cabs to go with your new amps
