Oh bugger and damnation.... I was hoping you were all going to say don't bother they are crap but I guess my take on it wasn't far from the mark then From the replies I've had I'm guessing the 200W will be plenty for pub gigs and the occasional club gig. Now the stinger question... If they are so powerful do I need to get a cab capable of handling more juice? Like a 400W or 600W to match to the 200W head?

So just recently I wondered into Music Ground at leeds to play on some basses and ended up playing through this HIWATT custom 400 and a 4x10 and 1x15. The sound using a Bongo was earth shattering and treacle smooth at the same time. Saw they had them up on ebay so did a bit of digging and found out they are the manufacturers of HIWATT now (or at least the owners of the brand). Not being a tube devotee (but might soon become one) What is the FOAK's opinion of these amps
I promise I'll consider it very seriously but after all the cabs I've been through in the last year I'm thinking that if I'm going to spend my rent money on anything else it'll have to be heard before bought.
You are at Leeds and I am in Barnsley trying is not a problem if you are serious
It sounds like a setup to me ...... too much of a coincidence for my liking! I was thinking more along the lines of a 12+tweeter because this Zoot really brings the combo alive with the tweeter on about a third. I know Alex Claber would kill me for making such a generalisation though. How does the sound of yours change when you plug in the 15" extension?
It makes the sound brighter which is something I'm not looking for really hense the reason it's up for sale in another thread

As it happens... I know where the perfect match for your combo is.... Sat in it's roqsolid cover round at my house (T151P)

Have we any Dutch bass players on here... Seeing as I am in Eindhoven this week just wondered if there were any flatland bass players on here with any upcoming gigs?
8< I obviously haven't seen the new design but we have lots of plans to reshape the mag and hopefully make it much more relevant in terms of features and reviews and create a much better looking and feeling end product - hopefully future issue will include articles of more substance and look far less like it was all thrown together at the last minute 8<
Can you either get the proof reading team to do their jobs right or pass the message onto Victor Wooten that the top 4 strings of a 5er are EADG and not ADGC
Lee & Bryn at Roqsolid did my Eden covers (and I believe Yorks5stringer's Mark Bass too). I had a positive experience.
And my MarkBass cover too... Very good quality, fits like a glove and good guys to deal with

A good friend of mine and bassist runs a jam night in Tyldsley? at the RAOB club next to ALDI's every Friday night his name is Steve get yourself up there and have a look, you dont need to take your bass first time... just go and see how it runs. This is how I started not many moons ago... gave me the confidence to get up in front of a crowd of people and play. Go and stretch yourself... the buzz is awesome

I know it's not the same cab but I tried the 4x6 New York cab at the Manchester Bass day and found it totally weak and lacking everything from tone to volume. Very disappointed
Nice rig... Any particular reason why the combo is on the bottom?
The extension 1x15 has a tweeter/horn effect thingy in it which I have never been that keen on, however I have found that with this almost at ear level and almost attenuated out it makes it easier for me to make out what I am playing by adding just a little of that fizzy sparkle type sound.

This is my 2x15 rig and I love the sound so much so that I have stopped DI ing through the PA as the rig is a lot better than the PA at bass. It's great to have all your sound coming from behind. Adding the second cab didn't immediately give me the increase in volume I expected on stage but it certainly throws it out front and there is tons of headroom.
