Two of my faves with unmistakable bass intro's Boogie nights - Heatwave Boogie oogie oogie - Taste of Honey Both of which I have recently learned... I think I need to join a disco band, I love the groove of disco tracks.
Ok cool, i might get me or borrow a real cheap ass righty and have a go see how it feels before getting a better quality one. Just a question, when playing bass do you ever bridge your fingers because i dislocated my ring finger at the end joint so it doesnt bend upwards. Its almost impossible to bridge 2 strings effectively. But bass is more single string finger work right, not one finger holds down all strings because i cant do that at the moment, hopefully over time the joint will become more free but maybe not.
I chopped the ends off my middle and ring fingers left hand last October in a work accident and I have found a way round it over the last year... and yes I regulally use my little finger to "bridge" two strings you just have to find a way I had o play with just index and pinkie for 6 months, it's amazing what you can do if the drive is there PS for those of you that are wondering, they did sew them back on but they don't feel like they used to lol

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: WORKSHOPS

I'm thinking of coming down tomorrow... I have some stuff up for sale on here, would it be considered bad form to bring it with me in case anyone fancies any of it? Being a 450 mile round trip it would be handy to offset the travelling costs if anyone bought any of it. -
It bloody wasn't lol I even remembered to do two laps on the verse second time round
"Valerie was sh*t, don't play it again. Everything else was good."
Music Shops in East Midlands/South Yorkshire Area?
Monz replied to rbatts2000's topic in General Discussion
I once had to change a wheel on manor top after a puncture... whilst I was jacking the car up a scraggy jumped in the car and started ripping the stereo out, when I asked him what he thought he was doing, he replied... "Well, if you're having the wheels, I'm having the stereo!" ) Seriously though, since reverb have taken over the stock of basses seems miles better and there is secure(ish) parking to the rear of the store
Electro music is probably one of the better shops in S.Yorks, though its a little bit of a hit and miss in my opinion to whether they will have a stingray in stock. Sound Control at Manor Top in Sheffield have quite a good stock from what ive seen and always a musicman, though Electro is the better shop and in a far pleasanter area, i certainly wouldn't waste any time between getting from the car and the shop in manor top :S
-
Wedding gig for us last night at Tankersley Manor near Sheffield. Best wedding gig for me so far... very relaxed and timings bang on !!!! (shock) DJ played first dance and then we were on for the first spot, kicked it off with heart of gold (N. Young) and dancefloor started to fill (amazed!) pretty much stayed that way all night. Second set has all the dancy tunes in it... finished off with Maggie May so guitarist could get his mandolin out. All packed up and ready to leave by 11:45 result.

Music Shops in East Midlands/South Yorkshire Area?
Monz replied to rbatts2000's topic in General Discussion
I was in there the other day and they have quite a stock of Musicman inc. a Bongo 4, they seem quite flexible on price too
Sam Hurst who is the manager at Reverb in Sheffield is a top bloke with a good reputation. But I honestly don't know the stock that they carry or if their prices are good or not.
-
Depends on your taste in music, but I'd say almost anything by Rush for starters.
<Thinks back to "Spirit of Radio" and feels totally inadequate> Launches all bass gear into back garden and looks for new hobby lol

Bugger and damnation If any basschatters see any Bongo 5 HH's in their local bass emporiums I would be grateful if you could let me know where they are hiding

S.E. BassBash 27 Sept Lift-Share Thread
Monz replied to phil_the_bassist's topic in General Discussion
I was thinking of going myself if only to meet the other basschatters but thought the cost a little too high... If you fancy chipping in to the petrol costs we could car share yours or mine either way
(long shot) anyone coming from the midlands?
-
Ok here's the deal... I really want either Blue Dawn or Stealth Black Bongo 5 HH Stealth black seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK and Blue Dawn being a 2007 Ltd edition are crazy money. Bass Central in the US are outing the Blue Dawn for $1500 ish so to my reckoning thats £750 plus 21% in VAT and import tax and the shipping so at worst it's looking like £1100 instead of the ~£1700 UK price Am I missing something here or are my sums near the mark?... £600 seems a fair saving to me

-
Count me in please Got the stuff in my sig plus should have a bongo 5 HH by then too

-
Hello there mate, Fellow Yorkie here lol I play for a sheffield band "The Call" (www.thecall-live.co.uk) will keep a look out for you
-
You also need to factor in that getting your hands on a new Bongo HH 5 is like searching for rocking horse sh*te... and don't even think about having opinions on what colour you would like unless you are willing to wait 3 months
-
Sound and Vision does it for me...

LOL I used mine to generate the finance needed to buy an EBS multicomp and a Gator Pedal Tote QED I persevered for weeks but common sense prevailed in the end... IMHO they are the tool of choice for the bedroom bassist
