1. Thanks for the replies and the info... Should be enough to fund something nice even if I can't find a bongo
2. --- Paging the font of all knowledge that is Basschat --- Got this 2006 Infinity recently in a deal with the Overwater I had and although the new prices seem extreme, I wondered what the real value was likley to be Come on you Warwick experts help me out Here are a few piccies Cheers
3.
I'm coming...
I agree it's a nice bass but is there really any need for that!
4. How do you feel about overwaters?
5. Bass withdrawn from sale
6. If anyone is at a loose end tonight we are playing from approx 9pm onwards 3 sets of grown up pop music might see you there... if you come, make sure you say hello... I'm the one with the really BIG guitar lol
7.
Fundamental thing every bassist should know - The notes on the fretboard. Otherwise, you'll be jamming with a band and someone will say "let's play something in F#!!!" and you'll be left looking like this -> As a matter of fact, I would be looking like that too... Who would want to jam in F#?!?!
Better in Eb... our guitard really likes me when I kick off in Eb
8. My 36" scale overwater currently has 45 to 125 high beams on and I am trying to find somewhere that sells them
9. I set my stingray 5 up using the Lakland setup video off youtube with an 8 thou gap at the 6th fret and about 2mm height at the 12th and it plays perfectly. I am using Elixir 45 to 130 strings. I find that even though you can hear the zing of the frets the audience usually cant. What about using 65 to 130 (bottom 4 of a 5 string set)
10. Here is my current rig... loads of tone and power, and pre booked appointments with local chiropractor
11. Ok Guys... Seeing as I recently joined the club here are a couple of shots of mine I think one of those needs crossposting to musicman porn and matamp porn lol

For me it was always a close call between Hiwatt and Matamp... I plumbed for the Matamp
13.
Congrats! Progress 3's are stunning and the build on them is absolutely phenominal. When I got my old one (gone now) I must have spent about 20 mins just looking at it. I know what you mean about the 36" scale, it really does control that B string well and it doesnt take too long to get used to either. I have a Overwater Jazz at 35" now and that is a bit more aggresive on the B but I quite like that. You have to get some pictures up to support the Overwater "porn" thread now so we can all have a good look.
To be honest for the type of nusic we play it's perfect (so was the stingray) but the overwater makes the stingray sound weak by comparison. It's not as aggresive in in your face as the stingray but packs a lot bigger punch in a balanced way, if that makes any sense... I can't wait to gig it for the first time on Saturday
14. Well at 36" it makes my stingray feel like a telecaster by comparison eeeek After an hour of playing I'm getting used to it but the clarity of the sound on all strings and especially the low B is mind blowing, I honestly didn't realise until I A/B'd it with the stingray and it blew the stingray out of the water (and I really like my stingray) The EQ is so precise and effective it needs very slight adjustment to achieve a completely different tone and being able to pan onto a neck pickup is delightful (stingray is the single humbucker) Will bore you all to death again soon as I discover more joys of Overwater ownership PS Thanks Iain you are a true gent
15. I had this very amp for about 3 months and it is the definition of valve tone... awesome
16.
2 new cabs got collected this morning, so borrowed a little valve head to give them a run! Lets just say, this is a bit loud, O M G !!! Bad picture from iphone
Nice cabs man... I'm at Gretna green services on my way home with a rather nice overwater to add to my collection
17.
Met a big guy playing an Overwater Bass in Silverburn for a Hospice. Hope he posts a pic of his new Overwwater on here and buy the way, 'Take the A Train' was spot on! Says his name on here is Moscow Bass.
I'm off up to Glasgow tomorrow to buy his "old" one sounds like a decent chap... see if you can get him to teach the progress some good habits before I get it lol
18.
Thanks guys, it is beautiful, if I wanted a blues amp I'd be sorted with this. But it's sadly a genre I'd never play seriously enough to need a specific amp for it. I am selling it as a guitar amp, not a bass amp. I've heard that they were designed as bass amps in the first place (don't know if that was true or not, but it's believable though I've never tried this as a bass amp), but genuinely this is the best guitar amp of it's type I've ever heard so I'd rather sell it as a guitar amp. It does need a bit of TLC, but when you look at similar amps like the original bluesbreakers and Fenders, you're looking at an extra £1000 for something that's almost identical.
Just a quick comment to let you know these sound lovley as a bass amp... I've used our lead guitards WEM dominator mic'd through the PA and the tone is to die for, but you do have to keep the volume on the amp back to get the clean tone... but what a tone. I use it for rehearsals sometimes when I can't be arsed to drag all my stuff down
19.
I've just found these..........Overwater make 35" scale strings. http://www.overwaterbasses.com/extended-flatwound.htm
Unless I am mistaken you might find a lot of similarities between Picato and Overwater strings... In fact I might go as far as to suggest you may struggle to find any differences
20. tssssk You stereo amp guys... Even your replies are in stereo
21. I will be travelling between York and Glasgow on coming Sunday in my little van. If anyone needs anything taking or picking up PM me and I'm sure we can sort something out. Mods. Maybe we should have an underground railway forum for things such as this as it may make the difference between someone being able to buy or sell something?
22.
Sold, pending the usual...
This is me with a big grin on my face this is >> <<
23. These have now gone pending payment
24. Trades... well my dream bass would be any one of the following: Musicman Bongo 5HH, Status S2 Classic Headed 5 string, Pedulla pentabuz If you have a highish end 5 string bass you fancy trading then PM me and we can have a natter Thanks for taking the time to look
25.
Nice work sir. What amp is Tom playing through? Sounds remarkably authentic!
Well spotted... A Laney valve combo and a WEM Dominator both mic'd up through the PA. We are both valve addicts
