Just about! Deposit-wise I'm done now. Just need to wait for it to be built! 3-4 weeks apparently. Out of stock of the transformers. Hm, just a random musing, but did your GT200 come with Speakon jacks as standard?
Great news Speakons are 4 pin... one at 8 and one at 4
Monz...sorry, just re-read your post. If anything could be arranged to try these out, I'd be over the moon! Do you know how yours and Ste's differ? Cheers
I would say the first one I had made which Tayste now owns has more in the mids although is does the whole spectrum very well including a very HiFi sound if you need it whilst my new one has a lot more in the way of bass and yes it is a lot more of a vintage sound which is exactly what I was looking for... It also has some huge (magnet) drivers in there so don't be expecting a one handed lift I would say if "driving bass" is your boat then Tayste's cab is the way to go With regards to meeting up I will have a chat with Tayste and see if we can't get together with all our gear sometime soon and maybe have a Matamp-Fest so anyone wanting to try these cabs/amps could pop over and have a noodle... watch this space
Last time I went down (about 2 weeks ago?) they only had two bass cabs around - a ported 4x10 and a sealed 8x10. They don't really keep massive amounts of stock for things like that.
They dont keep stock as each cab he makes is tailored to the players requirements... grilles/cloth/tolex pattern and colour/drivers/impedence Anyway... have you ordered an amp yet

As it stands there are only 2 of the 2x12's out there... Steve owns one and I own the other as the 2x12 was a design Jeff made for me so I could do smaller gigs without humping 2 4x10s I am sure we can arrange for you to play mine and possibly Steve's as they are two completely different animals loaded with different drivers. Where abouts are you based and when are you looking to try it/them. If you are going to bass day (Manchester, November 22nd) both Steve and I will be on the Matamp stand with all our Matamps and Matcabs and a selection of basses to play through them. Although I suspect cranking them up might not be on the cards I'm sure we can arrange something PS Depending on where you are based I/we could maybe set something up for you to have a noodle before or after the bass day

I'll do my best to drag all my matamp gear up if anyone is bothered about giving it a try, oh and a ray5 and sub5 -
Wow, just Wow! Lovely looking stack Monz, well done. Would love to hear that cranked up with a band. Cheers, Jon
I thank ewe I must admit I do like it myself It especially sounds well with the stuff I am doing with "Katnip" (originals band). When I turn up to do pub gigs with the covers band they just shake their heads and look despondant LOL
Infinite baffle is where the front and rear waves of the driver are isolated from each other. That may be via use of a 1/2 cubic foot sealed box, it may be by mounting woofers in a wall between two rooms of a house. The roughly 4.5 cu ft cab of the OP will work well sealed with drivers that have an EBP of less than 75, vented with drivers with an EBP of more than 100, with in between 75 and 100 being OK either way. Delta Pro 12s would require the cab be vented and tuned to 45 Hz. To stay sealed the Beta 12 would work better.
<applause>
i really liked the Roland Bass Cube that I used to have. Worked fine with a low B too. Guess it depends on how loud you want it to go.
+1 on the bass cube... very capable little amp, I use mine to rehearse with the covers band all the time and it's got a really good COSM amp modeling section as well as a few effects

As far as I am aware "Infinite Baffle" means the wood that the drivers are attached to is an integral part of the cabinet construction i.e. stressed member As far as drivers go i have just had another 2x12 made for me by Matamp and chose Eminence Delta Pro 12A and so far they have surpassed my expectations... VERY loud and punchy with great bass response and not mid happy like the neo drivers seem to be, be warned though... they are not light With regard to valve amps Matamp is the way forward although I would love to own one of the original Hiwatts but then we are back to Matamp again PS My cab is sealed and will handle 800W (400 per driver)
-
At this rate we will need a matamp porn thread
-
Mine are JJ's and give me a wonderful tone... did you try those settings?
-
One word MATAMP I happen to know he has one made loaded with Eminence Delta drivers because it was gonna be mine till I changed my mind and got 2 sealed 4x10s instead. And we get discount being basschatters

Steve
Wentworth... I'm surprised we can't hear each other practice lol I'm in Wombwell
-
You live in Huddersfield... you have one of the greatest bass cab manufacturers on your doorstep LOL Nip to Matamp in Meltham and try one of their 4x10s or the new 2x12 I promise they will blow you away... they did me, actually I'm off to pick up my new 2x12 today If you mention basschat you also get 10% off

I have an AKG bug wireless system and it hasn't let me down yet and it's played lots of gigs, just waiting on my X2 being delivered as they are supposed to be even better/less colouration although to be honest I havent noticed that much with the AKG. I always have cables but if I leave the singer to do the soundcheck I am always too quiet
Hey how are you all? I'm looking to buy an amp/combo to use in a church. Now churches, even a lively one like ours has a few quiet moments in it so my current amp, a Kustom KBA 100 isn't the best if you put even a slight amount of gain on. It's a bit lifeless with no gain at all. I know I could just shut the gain off every time I sit down but it's a faff on doing that. Are there any quietly powerful amps out there with maybe an ability to just flick a switch to silently kill it while things like prayers and readings are going on? I am a fairly new player so any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
No brainer... anything all valve with a standby switch ...as an added bonus you get killer tone as well
Guess what colour it is. I was going to strip it back to base, there is a lot of primer and paint on it. I attacked it yeaterday with 400,800, and 1200 again, and have sanded out the shrinkage lines, im going to put another couple of coats on and see how it dries.
If that fails Isopon car body filler is your friend... does exactly what it says on the tin
