ss.... I've been bouncing between EBS and Eden amps for the past 5 years or so, so it's Edens turn for the next few months. Picked up a used WT550b which is the only reason I'm selling this. Lost most pictures of past basses I'm afraid. Oh and its Alan not Paul, but appeciate it's tricky remembering real names alongside usernames.

Andrew, sorry I don't have much use for a fretless 5 at this time. Could be up for part-ex on 4 string fretted basses if anyone is interested.
Could you please show us a collection of your basses. Past and present.
I think I've posted any basses I've had in recent years on the old basstalk site. Unfortunately most pictures I had probably went down with that site as my computer has crashed a couple of times in the past year.

As New Zoot 5 string in excellent condition. Only several months old but personal reasons forces sale. 7 piece neck-thru. Blue side leds. Aero pickups. Aguilar 3 band eq (active/passive switch, filter switch, Mid boost). Suitable for all styles with a wide range of tonal options from old school to modern. More pictures available on request. Looking for £1200 but reasonable offers considered.

Use to think finding a decent drummer was a problem but now know several excellent players and at least one is always free when needed. Know a few keyboard players but one who can step into a function situation and cover all the sounds LIVE are a bit thin on the ground.

Give Mike a call at the Bass Merchant. I know he had one in the shop for ages so he should know what it is capable of.

Warwick bass amp in perfect working order. This is the 600 watt Quad VI model. 4 ohm minimum load. Speakon, mute etc. Naturally big punchy sound. I think there are 4 valves at the preamp stage and you can tap into these via the Quad control to give various preamp tones prior to eq. The illuminated W adds a nice visual touch. Driving the gain stage introduces compression. I've used this amp in a function environment and have found it works well for all styles. I'll include the 2U rack case as shown in the picture. Looking for £400.00.

Left handed WAL Custom bass with original WAL case. Purchased new 1980. There are are few marks in places as the bass was my main instrument throughout the 80's for various tours, gigs and recordings. Since been refretted but otherwise all original. Further pictures and info available on request. Looking for £1500.00. May be interested in part ex on other high end 4 string.

Worth checking out a Vigier Passion. Pretty good prices used and you won't take a dive in tonal quality. The lightest bass I've ever played at around 6lbs with very low action and almost zero neck movement due to the part composite neck.

Good luck to him. It's nice to see a success story for someone who deserves it. I bought my first SEI from Martin before the Gallery existed (Flamboyant 5, serial number 002). He was working from his flat. It wasn't cheap then but was not overpriced compared to the high end competion in the early 90's. The time spent on establishing the business and reputation in those early years has paid off and I think he can confidently price his products for what he thinks they are worth in the market.

Sorry did I say IV, should have been VI which is the 600w version. The speakers were not breaking up but when you get use to a cab you know what its capable of and how to push it, and that particular Warwick is a monster. All the amps I've used with it worked well so Tube or SS is not really an issue.
Sorry to take your thread on such a detour, but this is really useful information to me. I have only used the 2x12" twice now:

the first time was with a Laney 165w head at the rehearsal space we were using. The amp was terrible, but the 2x12" actually filled the room better than the stack of cabs they had in the room (a 4x10" and a 1x15"). I was astounded by the efficiency.
the second time was at a showcase on Monday. I used a Behringer ADI-21 preamp pedal into a t.amp TA1040, which I'm guessing puts out 525w per channel into 4 ohms... however the ADI had a very weak output (despite actually sounding pretty good), so it was hard to assess how much power was going into the cab. I ran one channel at full volume, with the ADI also at full volume. It sounded glorious.
The Quad IV is rated at 400w though, isn't it... was the cab farting out, or were you getting cone over-excursion or something? Do you feel it works better with a head with a tube preamp or a solid-state preamp?
I have used the 2x12 with a HA3500 in the past. Did a dep where I supplied the cab and the band leader provided the amp. The sound as you would expect with this combination gave a tight low end, very punchy with clarity. There appeared to be power/volumn in reserve and it was a pretty loud gig if I remember. I used the 2x12 with various other amps and the Edens worked well, WT405 as an example. My Warwick Quad IV (rated at 600w) on the other hand was just a little too much for it. The 2x12 is quite deceiving. Standing close to the cab may give the impression its not that loud but there is a lot of throw in it. It can fill out a room without you realising.
must have just missed you on Thursday night then. Brill cab but I think something with a bit more power would drive the 212 better then the HA3500, I'm on the look out for something in the 500watt range, maybe whynot can chip in here as he seems to have all the EBS neo range! If only I had money left to buy his 210 to go with the 212. Dave
