Tuner, usually. I'm such a pro.

Our contribution to Salisbury Live, loads of bands on all over town tonight. Make yourself known to me as Basschatter and...well, to be honest you'll probably end up doing the sound. Going to be dang hot tonight whatever happens

Concluded a splendid deal with Grumble for a fretless bass. Let me test it before sending him a cheque. Can not praise him highly enough really

My contribution to low quality luthiery featured the same spec http://basschat.co.uk/uploads/monthly_06_2010/post-3752-1277043976.jpg
These make great improvised barbecues by the way
Now look what you've done, it's hosing it down across the South West

I've got a couple of these to get rid of. One cheap B&Q job which the work surface butts up to - good for utility rooms etc. Another more expensive Screwfix one which sits in the work surface. Will both need collecting from Salisbury, PM if you want more details.

Now gone to a good home.....Patchbay and Audio Selector

I'll have them if they are still available -
Didn't Clarky have a black Spoiler? I remember yours being a natural finish - it felt a decent player, very solid. Little heavier than I was expecting. I'd still like one, to complete my Jason Newstead impression
He had both, the maple one was mine for a while

I used to work for Rob Heaton's brother Mike. I figured talent might be the deal breaker rather than nepotism on this one though.
I wish I still had a Spoiler
I had it after Clarky and I wish I still had it

First gig back after my eye op. Nice and easy reintroduction with an 8 o'clock start. Definitely more nervous than usual, I had a touch of fat finger in the opener and slightly disturbing wonky vision moment at the end of set. All went ok though and the venue filled up nicely for the top of the bill bands.

Eight o'clock kick off for us. Roll up, roll up see the one-eyed bass player

Which BC Member's Bands do you want to see, and have seen?
deaver replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
At least three off the top of my head. I've seen Crikey in Tyrannosaurus Alan a couple of times and mighty good they were to. A few years back I saw Farmer61 with one of his covers bands and was very impressed with his playing and his orange Jazz. I was also on the same bill as OldSlapper at the Chapel in Salisbury when he was with the Hollywood Killlers who were also excellent. (If you've played the Winchester Gate or The Old Ale House in Salisbury in the last few years then I've probably seen you as well) -

We'll be on first, so you'll need to be there early to enjoy the Intercepteurs experience. A trip to the bar before we start will also pay dividends.
Mike Lull and Thunderbucker Ranch do fairly accurate chrome T.Bird replicas. They're still quite pricey (especially Mike's stuff) but nothing like what you'd pay for an original set. Fly guitars http://www.flyguitars.com/ is a good resource for comparing/contrasting Gibson bass hardware and features.
Thanks for the info, the Thunderbucker Ranch set http://www.thunderbuckerranch.com/index.html might be the long term answer to this. In the short term I might look at some kind of artistic bodge - cheap plastic chinese humbuckers sprayed gold or some other kind of terrible DIY affair

A couple of places worth looking at http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php?title=Main_Page and http://www.epiphone.com/History.aspx I think I've seen the information you're after on one but can't remember exactly - I'll update if I find it

I finished my first bash at one of these on the cheap as follows: a couple of coats of Colron staining wax, a couple more coats of Lord Sheraton's Beeswax, and a polish with Gibson guitar polish The results are here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/43330-first-time-build/page

Fender USA Pbass refinish (2nd project) - Completed!
deaver replied to MarkG3's topic in Build Diaries
Hand sanded? Bleeding hell!! Truckstop

lol yea took me about 3-4 hours!
Respect - took me about 3-4 weeks to hand sand the body I had -
From what I remember. . . . The body was drawn up by Peter, Explorer shape and sized to keep everything in scale, so it doesn't match up exactly with any other Explorer shaped bass. It had a raised centre section, as per a Thunderbird, used Thunderbird electrics and bridge and of course the P neck and tuners. From memory, the body was made from Mahogany. There are various makers around the world "Who" have done this before, many times, so it will be interesting to see how the project moves forward. Good luck. Cheers.
Thanks again, those who have carried out this build before would probably be best averting their eyes once this is under way
